You know what's not great? Needing an entire septic system replaced in an older home. Know what's even worse? Having to get bids from a bunch of companies to come out and return astronomical bids over the phone and (when you can actually get them to show up) at your home. That changed when I called MJ Septic and received an actual realistic bid for a turn key anaerobic system. They work by email, which I prefer so that there is a paper trail of contact, which it turns out I didn't need. I worked with Stephanie who was awesome! She coordinated with me and the Engineer during the permit process, she set realistic and accurate expectations concerning the time table to have those permits approved and when the install day came, the crew moved with lightning speed. From the initial ground breaking to the final electrical install and test the process took one week. ONE WEEK! My neighbor (with a similarly aged home as mine) called me to ensure his eyes didn't deceive him; "There is NO WAY they are already done with that install..." LOL, yep! I was blown away by their efficiency and clockwork adherence to the schedule which is something you don't find too often in this industry. I was kept in the loop as far as what to expect and when to expect it, it was an all around 5 star experience. This company has you come in for 2 days to train for about 10 hours each day, stated that you are hired then the day before the start date they decide to advise that they will reach out to you and to not come in. Stephanie from MJ emailed me and offered a detailed explanation about the different types of tanks and the different reporting systems they use. She explained to me the error that the technicians did not report that my trash tank was buried, but that this is common and just wasn't accurately reflected in the reports. I appreciated her clarification and explanation, so I'm updating my review here. Update: So we got an email, not a email asking what they did and how they can improve it, but to accusing why I gave them 1 Star. When we didn't respond in a couple of day, here, she sent a email threatening us to stop our service if we don't respond. We have a contract and we paid for it. This is a BREACH OF CONTRACT! In addition, they are just not very good, they missed reporting a major issue for years in our property that was not even their fault (they didn't do install). We called them in a desperate need of septic replacement. With no explanation of how it would look different than the 1970's system they put the aerobic system right in front of the house. I got home from work to find all the caps, monitors and pipes right beside the walk to front door. Also, half yard was a wasteland. They killed ornamental trees, too. It cost me thousands to get the yard presentable again. And I was told I couldn't hide any of it with plants. So I used big pottery. That was almost two years ago. Now I have a formal letter from them saying they can't service my system due to "excessive pottery." So what was I supposed to do? Just have an ugly chemical plant as the main feature of my yard? My 37-year-old conventional septic tank backed up last week, so I called a few septic companies to get their opinions. Some said they could repair the leech lines, but it would be temporary and one gave us a bid to replace without even coming out to the house. MJ Septic came out the same day spent about an hour with me explaining what the options were. Joe one of the owners answered all my questions and pretty much left without any sales pitch or pressure on timing. We decided to go with MJ Septic and replace our leach field with a 1500 GPD Aerobic system. They coordinated the electrical work with the electrician and installed our system this week as they said they would and within the estimate. Today they came out and turned the system on and step us through their orientation. So basically I'm a happy camper, Everyone involved was professional, straight forward and knowledgeable. I called them for septic pumping and they arrived right on time the next day and pumped till their tank was full, returned within 2 hrs and completed the job. Extremely in-experienced and very poor service. techs have little to no training and certainly didnt know different types of sytems at all. Even the tech said he was inexperienced and unqualified. He had no knowledge of our system and had to be taught by us. Also very high priced. I would definitely recommend busy bee or David Winters/ All Pro Pumping septic. After using MJ we had to have everything all done again by an older company with experience and knowledge. read more

The only reason they are getting one star is because you can't give less. We have had nothing but problems from them from the very beginning from putting sprinklers in the wrong place to putting a tank in that was very uneven which caused flooding and now we have a ditch basically because they can't fill it in right. Now to the newest problem is they didn't tie into it right so now we're having to have the whole from the house to the septic tank redone by other plumbers and they are being less than helpful as we now have to pay someone else to pump out their septic tank even though this is all due to their mistakes read more

Used this company for a year for service and maintenance on septic unit. They were inherited to us as a service agreement was in place prior to moving into home. Unfortunately, my experience with them has not been a favorable one. Aerobic system was working just fine prior to a routine checkup. Once technician left my property, a few hours later we noticed that red alarm was on. As instructed, I sent over an email advising of the issue. I received a call from one of their customer service reps advising that they would put us on the schedule to come out and look at the unit. However, this is where the conversation went in a much different direction. The rep asked that if there are any issues to the unit, would it be ok to charge the card that I have on file with them? This obviously was NOT the question I was looking forward to hearing. Instead of MJ Septic taking accountability for the alarm triggering and simply coming back to check the unit, their first response was to attempt to collect money from me. This is completely unprofessional and unwarranted. On a side note, I received a report from inspection that everything was fine just the day prior. It is definitely suspicious that unit all of sudden is now having trouble. After the rep debated and was condescending to me for a couple more minutes, she eventually transferred me to a Joe. Joe was completely offensive and impolite. Instead of being sympathetic to the situation, His first statement to me was, "I understand you are being a little difficult so you were transferred to me..." He didn't want to hear anything I had to state and hung up on me. My concerns were not addressed, and I am still now with a septic with alarm on. Additionally, I am paying them for a service, not the other way around. If it wasn't for paying people like myself, they wouldn't have job stability. They should be a little more grateful and graceful for the role that carry within the company. Nonetheless, I will definitely be looking for alternatives for this service. read more

Update: After corresponding several times via email with Stephanie, she responds to my last email saying that she was going to file a police report for harrassment on me! Pretty sad she views a customer responding to emails SHE sent as harassment. It was a total of I think 6 emails, 3 from me to her, and 3 from her to me. Nothing aggressive or abusive, just asking questions about the service I paid for that was not performed. I bet the officer taking that call would scoff at her for wasting his time when they have valid complaints to attend to. Nice to see that when this company is asked to be held accountable for their performance, they respond with threats. Truly pitiful. read more
