Messages back and forth from Hector trying to over charge for labor

I requested service through Home Warranty of America, after a different plumber had already assessed the job and provided me a quote. When I called to schedule, I was assured the repairs would be covered and completed the same day. Hector, the technician, confirmed this in person and diagnosed the same issue as the first plumber. I even received an email from the warranty company approving replacement of the PRV, hose bib, and up to 4 hours of labor. Great! But just an hour later, Hector called to say the coverage was only partial--and I owed an additional $270. I asked for an invoice with a breakdown. What I received listed 7 hours of labor (2 hours for valves, 5 for the PRV). Hector had only been on-site for around an hour--it simply couldn't have taken 2 hours to replace the valves. I also questioned paying more before he replaces the PRV, especially since it's unlikely even six hours of labor is needed. Hector ignored my concerns and told me to call the office the next day. But the office didn't answer while he was there trying to collect payment. This is unacceptable--my PRV is still uninstalled despite the promise of same-day service. Additionally, Hector left the water on, even though I specifically asked him to shut it off due to high pressure. Now he's ignoring my texts altogether. I will never recommend this company, and I plan to file a complaint with both the home warranty company and relevant consumer authorities.

I would like to give this company a hand and stamp of approval! I made servals calls to plumbing companies and these guys were able to give the best response ok a professional and timely manner. First off they showed up on time, yes I said they showed up ON time! Second they were very respectable and used booties to wear over their boots to keep my new carpet clean. They surveyed the problem and made the repairs needed to be done. All while the working process they kept their work space clean and made sure to not make a mess. I was very impressed by the crew and their professionalism. I would recommend these guys and will be using them for any plumbing issues I may come across in the future.

The remodel took over six weeks, and during that time we were displaced from our bedroom and had to move into a spare room upstairs. Recently, I noticed the caulk around the bathtub seal was coming up. It took more than two weeks for someone to come out, and the repair itself took only about five minutes. Instead of handling it as a courtesy, I was told the work had been installed in January 2024, the warranty was only for two years, and I was a few months outside the warranty period, so technically I should be charged got a $150 service call. While he were here, one of the toilets they had installed also needed a very minor adjustment inside the tank. Again, I was told I was just outside the warranty period and would have to pay over $150 for a service call for what was essentially a two-minute fix. I understand that labor is not free, and I respect that service companies have to charge for their time. However, after spending nearly $40,000 with this company, I expected at least a little courtesy and goodwill for such small, quick adjustments. Instead, I was met with a rude attitude and a complete unwillingness to help unless I paid another service charge. My biggest issue is not just the warranty cutoff. It is the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and customer care after we spent so much money with them. The experience felt very transactional: take the money, then refuse to stand behind the work in any reasonable way once the big project was done. Based on our experience, I would not use this company again, and I would strongly encourage others to be cautious. Get every warranty term in writing, keep all documentation, and be prepared for them to request proof and charge service fees even for very minor issues. Or just avoid them all together and don't do business with them. Buyer beware.

The estimate seemed too good to be true plus I had also seen some mixed reviews on Yelp so I wanted to be sure I did the extra due diligence before making a decision. Not all plumbing jobs are the same and things that happened during the big Texas storm early in 2021 I had to take with a grain of salt. After confirming all the details with Pete and researching more online, I trusted him and his team with the job. I will say their plumbers are very professional and I even enjoy their cute little bios that's they text you - very nice touch. That amounts to nothing really if you don't complete the job that is paid for. They did a water leak inspection and charged us $350 to tell us that the leak was likely on our water softer line somewhere. So we called Puragan who quickly came out next day and took a look. They also charged me $0 dollars. It wasn't their lines but they found a line that Roadrunner did not and bam! Guess what we found? Wet ground and eventually the leak. It was on the complete opposite side of the pool. No where near where they said the leak was likely at. We won't be needing a plumber now cause we can fix it with a few parts and some of our own labor. I want to be fair with this review. I do have a very large ranch style house with a pool. It's old and complicated but we love it and are doing our best to bring it back to its former beauty. I'm also not looking for the cheapest option. We just want to hire contractors that give us the quality work that we pay for. Not only that, if you do a good job we will highly recommend your company to others and you will have a repeat customer for as long as we live in SA. We are no contractors but grew up poor in Alaska making us very capable and handy to complete "do it yourself projects" but we are also smart enough to know what things require a professional.
