I originally found Michael by doing a simple search for someone to demolish my old deck and fence…read more When he came out to give me a quote, I mentioned that I couldn't replace the deck until I installed a new fence because the existing fence was actually being supported by the old deck. He immediately told me he could take care of both. As we continued talking, I mentioned that my backyard was an overgrown disaster and asked if he did landscaping. His answer was, "We do everything." That ended up being the best thing I could have heard. What started as a deck and fence project turned into a complete backyard and front yard transformation. They removed the old deck, installed a beautiful new fence, built an incredible paver patio, graded the yard, seeded the lawn, and completely changed the look of our property. Throughout the entire project, Michael was unbelievably responsive. I work 12+ hour shifts as a nurse, so I often texted him after normal business hours and always told him there was no rush and that he could respond the next day. More often than not, he'd answer that same evening anyway. He checked in throughout the project, kept us informed every step of the way, and made the entire process incredibly easy. The quality of the work speaks for itself. The craftsmanship is outstanding, the crew worked efficiently, and everything was completed quickly without sacrificing quality. His pricing was also very fair, especially considering how much work was done. The transformation honestly made me emotional. I had hated looking at my yard for years, and seeing the finished project actually brought me to tears. It's hard to describe how much this has changed our home and how excited we are to spend time outside now. His name is a Chris…read moreMcDonagh- Not Erick While I would love to come here and rave about the fantastic work that was done by this company, unfortunately, that will not happen. There was so much that went wrong with the ENTIRE job that I ended up having to buy additional materials and pay the hired workers to finish the job for me, because the owner simply abandoned the job. He never paid his own workers for the work that they performed either. He took advantage of these guys and me as well. I want to say that the actual workers did a fantastic job, but it was no thanks to the owner. I had to negotiate a price with them to finish, what he hired them to do. From the very beginning, he came up with every excuse in the book. The start date was delayed, then he needed additional monies to continue (not finish) the job. Then if that wasn't bad enough, he then asked for yet another advance on the payments. I reminded him that he and I had a contract and that he was breaching it by not holding up his end of the deal. When we booked a consultation, his representative came out to my house and assessed the job. He then offered to do the job for 15% less than the lowest bid I had gotten. I saw this as a great deal considering that I had a few projects that I wanted to get done and was working with a limited budget. After reading his reviews and looking at his previous jobs posted here (which I am now convinced are ALL FAKE), I agreed to the terms and conditions, the contract was signed and the work began. He didn't start the job on time and by the 2nd day of work, he was telling me that he had fired his rep complaining that he had underestimated the job. I reminded him that, HE in fact sent me the contract, which I modified and sent back to him to update since the original left off a few items- which he did. There was never any talk about any under estimates at that time. On the 3rd day, the crew of skilled laborers (who are very hard working guys) came to me to ask me if he was coming to pay them and that he owed them more than $1,500 for their first couple of days of work. I told them that I had nothing to do with how he conducted his business and encouraged them to reach out to him. At that point, they pretty much told me that they were not going to finish the job until they were assured that they were going to be paid. That made all the sense in the world to me. I then reached out to the owner and asked him what was going on. He told me that he had run out of money, he would need more to finish and that he wanted me to ALSO pay HIS workers and that he would pay me back. I told him absolutely not. I had given this guy almost $10,000 and not one of the projects was complete. To put things into perspective. These were the projects: -2 walkways with pavers on both sides of the house leading to the backyard. -An L shaped paver pad for a BBQ area and Fire pit seating area. -A Fire-pit. -Downspouts to go underneath the walkways to drive water away from the house. -A cement pad under the deck area, later to be enclosed and used for outdoor storage. I got none of these even close to being completed. I ended up having to pay for additional materials myself and his workers to finish the job. After all of this, I was in contact with him and he agreed to repay me what I paid out, but now he has gone ghost. I contacted my attorney and he told me that this guy is doing some very shady business. We do have a plan to recoup my losses, which I will not discuss here. However, I would tell anyone who is even considering this company - DO NOT. This man and his company is a complete SCAM. His website doesn't work and his information is hard to find. Virtually impossible. We all work hard for the things that we want and this was a terrible experience. I am left (for now) paying back all of these erroneous expenses that I shouldn't have had to. PLEASE Don't let this happen to you! I called one company I knew and I had to keep calling and calling back to get an estimate. After two weeks of waiting, I decided to call someone else and stumbled upon Johnston Roofing. Charlie came over and wrote me up an estimate on the spot on a pre-printed multi part yellow form -- warranty included (did I mention old school?), I just went with them without waiting for the other estimate because he said he could do the job the next day, max two days. Well, that solves my problem right away so I go for it without even getting the other estimate. His guys come, the job is neat and clean--no more leaks and done in one day. I have a nice new white colored roof which is greener too. Five days later, I get the estimate from the other guys and it was way more complicated and expensive. Guess I'm lucky the other guys took so long.

I tried to talk through various options with him, but as soon as it became clear I likely wasn't going to spend $6,500 on the spot to replace the entire roof, he became disinterested and eventually hung up on me. I get Charles not wanting to waste time, but the numbers he was throwing at me seemed very large, especially for the situation. He wasn't wiling to talk through things at all unless I was going to commit to thousands of dollars on the spot. Also, after some less rushed research, $6,500 is a very high price for a 250 square foot flat roof. Charles seemed like a nice enough fellow - but I can't help feeling that I narrowly escaped being taken for a very expensive ride because i needed work done quickly - as anyone with a leaking roof likely can relate to!
