Today I'm coming to use the sauna to reap the benefits of sweat. I came in early to avoid the days crowd. I'm impressed with the cleanliness, very clear instructions and everything in its place. The cleaning crew was everywhere but out of members way, which is impressive considering the number of members coming and going. The steam sauna is my favorite, reminding me of a few I used in Norway and Sweden. I have previously used dry heat saunas, but I find I enjoy the steam.

Since the beginning of this year, they have renovated the swimming pool, jacuzzi, and men's locker room, and now the women's locker room is being updated as well. While it's good to see continuous improvements, the ongoing construction can sometimes feel inconvenient and is a reminder that the facility is aging. My experiences with the staff have been mixed. Some employees are friendly and helpful, while others come across as less welcoming. One incident in particular left a disappointing impression. I accidentally left my phone at the Life Cafe table and realized it after I had already left the gym. When I returned, a young staff member asked to see my membership card. I explained that my membership information was on the phone I had left inside, but despite the obvious situation, he refused to let me enter without an ID. Even after explaining multiple times that I was simply trying to retrieve my phone, he continued insisting on identification. It felt like common sense and flexibility were missing in that moment. Another concern is the membership cost. I currently pay more than $180 per month, which is quite expensive. At that price point, I believe members naturally expect not only quality facilities but also consistently professional and understanding customer service. Despite these frustrations, I still appreciate the convenience of the location and the overall amenities the gym provides.

Unfortunately, the courts are unavailable Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM throughout the summer due to camp activities, yet members are still paying full membership rates with no discount or accommodation offered. For members who use the courts regularly, this removes a major part of what we're paying for. It feels unfair to eliminate access to a key amenity for an extended period while continuing to charge full price. I understand businesses want to run summer programs, but this situation seems focused on generating additional revenue at the expense of paying members. I raised these concerns with management and was told, "Sorry, nothing we can do." That response was disappointing and felt dismissive. For a gym at this price point, I expected better communication, better planning, or some effort to make things right for affected members. This was handled poorly.

Another great perk is access to the locker rooms and saunas. I feel the entire facility is kept clean and organized. I love the big windows everywhere which allow for a ton of natural light to come inside. I also enjoy using the indoor/outdoor green space on the bottom floor which has a garage door that can open and close depending on the weather. Very nice during Spring, Summer and early Fall. I never feel like I have to wait for equipment to free up, and they do offer complimentary towels at the front desk upon check-in. This athletic club is on ClassPass and I typically just purchase gym time using a couple credits or I sign up for the circuit or conditioning classes.

Everything you do toward achieving your health/fitness goals from that moment on out will be custom-tailored for your body. My body has slimmed down (although I'm still a work in progress). I know they're helping me do something right because heads have been turning in appreciation. :-) The strength training has sculpted some awesome arms, calves, and hips (if I do say so myself). And, let me add: this place is phenomenal for families. I have two sons; ages 13 and 17. They both are football/lacrosse players and they train here. They have an athletic fitness program designed for my sons that is so awesome that it helped my oldest son become selected as part of the football team at Georgia Southern University. Gladiators have been around for a while, but have not been to a game yet... until last night at Gas South Arena in Gwinnett. Tickets are reasonable & plenty of price points for all budgets. Parking, $15.00. Pics & a fun video of a fight will show some of the experience. The arena had food/beverages so nobody will be hungry. Beer was $$, as normal now... stinks!!! This is a fun night for a date night, families, a night to relax (lol, crowd gets into it). 3 20 minute periods in a game with 2 20 minute breaks between each period. Entertainment between periods & of course the Zamboni. Mascot runs around & he will take pics if you ask. A little chilly inside, but not bad. I'm excited to go again before the season ends.
