I reached out to Landmark Retrievers after randomly commenting on how relaxed and well behaved my…read morefriend's dog was and learned she went there. My dog had been threw very basic, weekly training from 5 to 8 months so when I contacted Roger, I let him know Oscar knew how to sit, lay down, etc. on command; however, he was becoming unmanageable on a leash and developing terrible anxiety to the point where he would shake every time he was outside and any time he'd hear a noise, (I live in downtown Dallas so there's a ton of it) he'd freak out, get low to the ground, and pull me back home to his safety. After Oscar worked with Roger and Megan for 6 weeks, plus weekly visits, he's honestly a different pup. He's confident. He's silly. I joke with my friends he's back to puppy Oscar ways. Oscar 2.0. He still has anxiety, but it's easily manageable. I use the commands they taught us to redirect attention to calm him down and continue our walk or whatever adventure we're on. While in training, every week when I met with him, he was extremely happy to see me but also happy when I told him goodbye and I'd see him in a few days. When the 6 week training program was complete and finishing our final working session to head back home, he ran around the Land Retrievers yard licking, snuggling the employees. Hard for me to say but I'm also so happy, he loved it there. He didn't want to leave. That's so telling. I plan to board Oscar at Landmark Retrievers whenever I leave town moving forward. It was a really great experience and very reasonably affordable. I'm definitely happy I was pointed toward Roger and Megan.

He is incredibly smart, compassionate, and truly understands that every dog is unique. He tailored the training specifically to our dog's needs, using a very gentle yet highly effective approach. You can tell he genuinely cares about the dogs he works with -- it's not a one-size-fits-all method, and that made all the difference. Our dog responded so well to Justin and his training methods. On top of his excellent training skills, he's also a fantastic dog photographer! He captured some beautiful moments that we will cherish forever. (I included some pics he took in this review!) I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a thoughtful, skilled trainer. We would definitely work with him again if ever needed. 10/10 recommend using him.

We were afraid to let them be in the same room together due to the size difference - when they were in the same room, it was basically gladiator warfare! We chose to board and train them together with Justin for two weeks while we went on an overseas trip. We were absolutely shocked at the progress Justin made with them in a few short days. The pups are totally integrated and we are all finally able to relax in the same room together. Until Justin came along, we were sure this was going to be a forever issue. Aside from the integration, Justin really listened to what our concerns were for training and was able to address each and get us moving in the right direction. He approaches training with love and always with the intention of strengthening your bond with your dog and teaching how to behave so that your dog can live it's best life and have as many adventures with you as possible. It's evident that Justin loves his work and loves and really gets to know each dog. We got great updates every day on how things were going and what he was working on with them. He's also an amazing photographer and we have so many gorgeous puppy portraits that he took. Best decision we ever made to use Justin and Modern Dog to help us with our boys. We just got them back yesterday and they are already more calm, having loads more fun and happy boys!

I read Breyers' testimonials on Yelp and on Google, and I thought to myself, "This is too good to be true..." After working with Breyers, Bubba is calm on walks, walks directly next to me with no redirection, and has become a perfect gentleman at the vet! To say I was shocked with the results is an understatement. Breyers truly puts in the work, and helps you better understand your dog and their capabilities. He gave me the confidence to trust in Bubba again, and gave Bubba the skills to be the best dog he can be. I cannot rave about the results I've seen in him enough! The best part is, the longer we train and the more we work together on his skills, the better he gets! He was off leash in my front yard not too long ago, and came to me to get put on a leash with ease. If I could leave you with one bit of advice, it would be this: trust the process. Breyers is a professional with a successful training model, and it truly works if you have faith and are willing to put in the work. Bubba loves Breyers! Thank you for an excellent service, and for giving my dog back to me! You can teach an old dog new tricks!!
