She's much calmer and better at self-regulation - and they taught her people a thing or two as well. This is a no-frills service. Don't expect tons of photos and flowery letters. This place was awesome! We had some close friends use Canine Perceptions and they came highly recommended to us. So highly recommenced that we drove about 400 miles to drop our boxer puppy off. In a nut shell: I don't know how to train a pet, I want a well mannered dog around family and friends, and wanted someplace I felt comfortable with to leave my new furry friend. The way it works is that you drop off your dog and they work will them constantly for a number of weeks and call you when they feel the dog is ready. I appreciated that they don't go for a certain amount of time regardless of how well they are learning and instead set benchmarks that the dogs needed to meet before they felt comfortable with them going home. They were amazingly friendly and easy to work with and got our Boxer Lola (see picture) to be more well mannered than most children I know. I would absolutely suggest giving them a try if you're needing professional training. read more

Incredible!!!! I was recommended by a friend in dallas to have my German Shepherd trained by canine perceptions. It wasn't even a question to make the drive from Houston for training! From my initial phone call with Tim I felt comfortable and confident in his 6 week training program. Prior to my arrival I couldn't walk my dog at all which was beyond stressful and gave me a lot of anxiety. Dropping off my dog they were ready to work! I received weekly updates on training along with the following weeks course. Upon my arrival to pick up my German Shepherd was so special. I noticed a significant difference immediately. He was calm and trained. I was able to have a conversation with (Austin) his trainer who did an amazing job without my dog seeking attention... weeks later back in Houston - safe to say the 6 week training course absolutely paid off! I'm able to walk my dog on and OFF leash with him by my side as he is obedient to his new commands. Truly blessed for Canine Perceptions coming from a loving dog Mom. Thank you again! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. Canine Perceptions was recommended to me by a friend of a friend who took their puppy. My dog is 3yrs old, fun loving personality, never met a stranger and no underlying health conditions / concerns. I took her to help address off leash commands / responsiveness, jumping upon greeting others and occasional aggression at dog parks. When I dropped her off I was assured she (Maltipoo) would be kept in house in a kennel (it was supposed to freeze) and there was no need for any additional clothing/blankets/protection, "only retriever breeds stay in outside kennels as they acclimate to the weather." I was told I would receive weekly progress reports and pictures as requested and they would demonstrate training at the mid term check up and at graduation (except 2hrs). The only positive thing I can say is that I got a response. That response / progress report, however, was nothing more than "she's adjusting well," "she's doing good," and "off leash is going good" and one photo of her on leash. At the mid term check the handler walked her on a leash in a square pattern to "demonstrate" her on leash training (she already knew how to do this). My bigger concern was her weight loss. There was no mention of this prior to my arrival at week 3, they said the food I took didn't have sufficient nutrients for the work she was doing, and they'd change up her diet to put weight back on. Again, there was no mention of this concern prior to me questioning it and she is not a working dog so it doesn't make sense to me, regardless how often she's training on/off leash, that she would lose so much weight. They either lied about her weight or their scale is significantly off bc she was 3 lbs lighter than what she weighed at the vet the week before drop off (which is a lot for a small dog) - her ribs, her spine were so prominent, she was at an unhealthy weight when the vet weighed her again the day after I picked her up. They said the collar I provided wasn't good enough, though had all the same levels and settings as the one they sell. When I picked her up, the graduation consisted of letting her off leash to demo the "here" command once, and a repeat of the on leash walking pattern from the mid point check, then asked if I had any questions. I was honestly in shock. I knew she was still thin, yet they only reported she had diarrhea and was putting weight back on. When I got her home I bathed her bc she stunk and looked muddy, to my surprise it wasn't mud and didn't wash off. I took her to the vet immediately: she had a severe yeast infection all over her body (nose, potty areas, up all 4 paws and across her chest), she had blood in her stool, diarrhea and is on medication and a special diet for the next month to address the GI issues, and I can't tell if it's due to her current health condition / illness or if she is legit traumatized from the experience, but she's not her happy, playful self. She is lethargic and uninterested in toys, bones, things she LOVED before. There is NO accountability on Tim's part, there was no detail on training or proactive communication regarding her health, they lied about the boarding environment and likely about weighing her and training her based on what I've observed thus far. I wish I would've read the Google reviews prior to taking her, and listened to my instinct when dropping her off. This is NOT a reputable boarding or training facility and I strongly recommend you NOT take your pet here. read more

Let me start by saying my dog is a stubborn, goofy, pain in the butt. However Canine Perceptions did a wonderful job with her! Monika was so amazing! She always responded quickly to any and all emails I sent! My dog Scout had a major problem with jumping and overall being stubborn, Monika, Tim, and the rest of the trainers there worked in my opinion a miracle. They treated Scout like a member of the family and made her an even better dog than before. I can't tell you enough about how wonderful a process this was. I am so very happy with the work and effort Canine Perceptions has put in to Scout. They really are amazing at what they do! read more

I absolutely recommend Canine Perceptions! Monika kept in touch and let me know about my dog's progress. I left him there for the 3-4 week program and he is much more well behaved. When you pick your dog up they guide you through the training so you can keep it up when you're ate home. They also offer overnight boarding for $10 a night!
