The exterior shattered pleasantly, giving way to a molten, creamy center. Paired with a pineapple sauce, each bite balanced sweet and salty in exactly the right proportions. My wife ordered the Australian Wagyu Flap Sirloin, a 12-ounce cut grilled over charcoal and served with house-made chimichurri. It was everything you hope Wagyu will be, deeply beefy, wonderfully tender, and rich without becoming overwhelming. The chimichurri added brightness without stealing the spotlight. Then came the dish that first caught my attention. The La Reina de la Casa, or "Queen of the House." At first glance, it almost feels designed for social media, a cheese pizza crowned with an enormous grilled octopus. I would be lying if I said that presentation didn't influence my order. Fortunately, this wasn't style over substance. The pizza itself stood on its own with a crisp crust and generous layer of bubbling cheese. The octopus, however, was the reason to order it. It was expertly grilled, tender without a hint of chewiness, and seasoned with a spice blend the server politely described as the chef's secret. Whatever was in that seasoning deserved to remain a secret, because it transformed an already well-cooked octopus into something memorable. Dessert brought things back to the classics with a crème brûlée. The sugar crust cracked cleanly beneath the spoon, revealing a silky vanilla custard underneath. Simple, elegant, and exactly the ending the meal needed. 1910 could have leaned heavily on flashy presentations and premium ingredients. Instead, it paired both with thoughtful execution. That's a far more difficult trick to pull off. Some restaurants earn attention because they're photogenic. The best ones earn repeat visits because the food is every bit as impressive as the photos.

The fried cheese was served on a little piece of pita bread and is a must try. I also enjoyed the refried bean soup, especially when dipped with plantain chips. As far as my main course, everyone knows how much I love cows! Before everyone at the table even had a chance to place drink or appetizer orders, the server abruptly turned around and walked away. Roughly 30 minutes later, she returned with my appetizer. As she attempted to leave again, another guest at the table had to stop her in order to place an appetizer order. During that interaction, she asked whether we were ready to order our entrées. We explained that we wanted to wait until the other guest received his appetizer before ordering our meals. At that time, I also requested a water. The server did not return until approximately 15-20 minutes later when the second appetizer arrived, and once again she left immediately afterward without checking on the table or seeing if anyone needed anything else. When she eventually came back, she took our entrée orders and disappeared again. After waiting approximately 30-45 minutes, our food finally arrived. Ironically, this was also when I finally received the water I had requested much earlier. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. Several entrées were only lukewarm when they arrived, as though they had been sitting for some time before being brought to the table. My boyfriend ordered his steak medium, but it arrived well done. The birthday guest ordered a meal that was supposed to include chimichurri sauce, yet the sauce never arrived. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of table service throughout the evening. The server rarely checked on us and never gave us an opportunity to communicate our needs. We were never offered peanuts, drinks were not properly checked, missing items were not noticed, and we had no opportunity to mention that we were celebrating a birthday. I had planned to order a brownie dessert for the birthday guest, but because the server was so unavailable, I never had the chance to tell her. Throughout the evening, I occasionally saw the server elsewhere in the restaurant performing side work. Having previously worked in a restaurant myself, I understand that side work is part of the job.
