Wanted to update my review that I'm still a loyal customer here 5+ years later - even after moving to Long Beach! I drive 2-hours round trip every three weeks to get a fill with Michelle. I've had great service from her since the first day I scheduled an appointment with her. Of course every visit has not been perfect - there were a couple of instances where I had mediocre service from the other employees working here: 1) taking twice as long for a lash fill, when usually it takes less than 1 hour with Michelle and 2) one time I had an obviously sick employee doing my lashes and she kept coughing inside her mask and Michelle had to take over and finish my lashes. It took like 1.5 hours to get my lashes done that day! Probably one of my least favorite visits. After a couple of these incidents, I sent a text and requested if Michelle could be the only one to service me going forward and she made it happen. It's hard to find good quality service for a reasonable price and I wanted to continue coming here. Give grace when experiencing bad service, communicate your concerns and see where it goes from there. My most recent visit on 6/17 was one of my best experiences, I came in for a 4-week fill and she asked if I wanted to try getting my brows laminated. I never thought about doing it before but always open to recommendations by Michelle because I trust her with my face! Lol my eyebrows and lashes never looked better and now I'll be sure to touch up my brow lamination every 4-6 weeks! Please remember: Michelle takes her time with every client and her appointments often overlap with other appointments because she cares about the quality of her work. This lady is extremely thorough and has attention to detail. She will make sure you look and feel great! The other ladies working here are all hands on with their clients so you won't often have a receptionist to greet you at the door. At the end of the day, you're here to get quality lashes done and not someone to smile at you as you walk in the door. I booked an appointment for a lash extension with Michelle. When I got there, she was still working on another customer, but came out to greet me and we discussed what I was looking for. Shortly after I was walked into the room, and she pawned me off to someone else. I wasn't asked if I would mind wait waiting for her. I went with it and regretted it later. Within 10 seconds of finishing , I was walking to the front to pay, a few pieces of the lashes fell into my eye, and they had to rush me back to take it out. I requested a last minute service around the holidays and was able to be fit in the next day. I requested the no glue lash lift with Michelle and I was very happy with the results! The service took a little over an hour to complete. I was a bit strapped for time, but she still took great care of me while trying to work quickly. I decided to give this place a try after reading such good reviews. Unfortunately my experience wasn't as great. My lash set took 3 hours!!! My appointment was at 4:30 and I walked out of there at 7:15 and it wasn't even a complex set. Even worse, I haven't even had them for a week yet (today is day 6) and I'm already missing more than half (keep in mind I've been having lash extensions so I know proper maintenance to keep them lasting as long as possible). I don't know if it's the glue or if it was a new technician or what but I'm beyond disappointed. Didn't know what to expect of this place because of mixed reviews but I decided to give it a try because of the groupon deal! I made an appointment through yelp and Michelle responded very quickly. She was flexible with time and day and very pleasant to deal with. Based off of the yelp reviews, I specifically mentioned that I wanted my lashes to be done by her. I also didn't have to purchase the groupon because she said they would honor the price in store. There's a lot of street parking around downtown Monrovia so it wasn't a hassle finding somewhere to park. When I got there, I loved how quite the studio was but there was no one around. I stood outside in the lobby for a good 5 minutes before someone came out, and only because the phone was ringing. I was then told I had to wait 15 minutes past my 12 appointment time because I guess they were running behind--it ended up being 30 minutes and it wasn't Michelle who did my lashes. I didn't get the name of the girl who did mine, but she just told me to lay down without asking what I wanted. She wasn't very good at recommending the styles and didn't even tell me about the length of the lashes or what material she was using. I haven't been to a lot of lash extension places so I wasn't really familiar with my options and she didn't even offer to show me any pictures for examples. I just told her 2D and a more natural look, but she ended doing "open eye" (?). The whole process took around an hour + the thirty minute wait time (1.5 total). The room they do the extensions in is nice and wide but it's not very private. When other customers started coming in, it got really loud and someone kept playing their Snapchat videos (or something) out loud so it was quite annoying. When my technician finished, she didn't even give me a mirror to look at the results until the very last minute and it seemed like she was in a big rush. I noticed my lashes were really short which wasn't what I wanted but I didn't have time to say anything because she was already at the door waiting for me to pay. My lashes don't look bad, but it just wasn't what I was asking for. Overall, terrible service but okay outcome. ******I also noticed that she, nor any of the other technicians, washed their hands between customers. I always make an appointment and I am seen fairly promptly. I find one technician I like and stick with her because I get a consistent look. I always get compliments on the naturalness of my lashes for everyday. I always advise anyone who wants to try lashes or try a new shop to try MM. I am a long time customer and convert so I try to tip a bit extra. The pricing has always flumoxed me as it can be one price for the same amount of weeks between appointments and then the next time I return the pricing is similar but a little different. I cannot go every 2 weeks. I figure it all equals out as some appointments are a little less or more, than the same visit same number of weeks of return. I have done 3d for special events and stick with 2d for daily. I truly wish other customers would turn off their phones. It's so rude to the technician and others during their service. Profoundly disappointed in the lack of respect and accountability on behalf of the owner, Michelle. I made an appointment three weeks ago and specifically mentioned that I was in need of a time when there wouldn't be many clients present, as I have an international trip and am extra concerned about mitigating risk re: COVID. I was given an 8am appointment and my concerns were acknowledged and assuaged. I arrived at my 8am appointment today and waited 45 minutes outside and no one showed up. Michelle texted me an hour later with a photo from another client's text exchange, demonstrating an attempt to confirm the appointment. I told the owner that I am not Brianna and that the number she texted is not my number and she must have made an error in booking. No apology. No accountability. Instead she gaslit me and made comments about how "weird it is that you have the same number as another client." The number literally had zero shared digits. She simply made a booking mistake. I asked if she could nonetheless fit me in, as I leave on a trip tomorrow and she was able to fit me in at 11. Great! During the appointment, however, a child accompanying a parent was sitting unmasked, sneezing repeatedly 8 ft away, and clearly sick with an upper respiratory infection. When I pointed this out to Michelle, she asked the child to wear a mask. Upon finishing treatment I noticed that one staff member was walking around totally unmasked, and another was wearing the mask below the nose and sniffling. So upsetting. I pointed this out and Michelle gaslit me again, saying, "My staff wears masks" at I literally pointed to the unmasked staff and asked if they work for her, clearly rhetorical at this point. She just stared at me awkwardly. Part of me gets it: it's been two years and we're all fatigued with the protocol. I also fully understand that mistakes happen in scheduling-- I've run two client-centered businesses for 14 years. However, when mistakes do happen it's less about the actual mistake and more about how the owner shows up and steps into accountability by acknowledging it, offering to make it right, and doing better. I've tried a several eyelashes places and I can't go anywhere after here! They do a great job! They are really professional, and would give you some suggestions of what kind of shape looks good on you based on your eye shape. They can finish it within an hour with full eyelashes. It lasts at least 4-5 weeks with some eyelashes and I live far but it's worth the drive to get eyelashes done over here. Super easy to find a parking spot too. Highly recommended!! read more

First came here with a Groupon new 2D eyelash extension set and loved how they came out. One of the best deals out there in my opinion. Why I kept going: -My lashes looked full yet natural. They also have longer lashes if you want a more dramatic look. -Low maintenance upkeep. -Always ample street parking. -I can get an appointment at almost any time. They're very flexible and responsive on Yelp messages. Mild gripes: -$2 credit card charge policy is inconsistent. When I first went at the beginning of the year, they charged $2 for services less than $50. When I went yesterday, I was paying $80 for lashes and Michelle still charged me $2 and acted like she had no idea what I was talking about when I brought it up. -New 3D lash extensions are $89 and new 2D lash extensions are $79! Not a big difference in the price point but it would've been nice if she told me about the price difference before doing the actual service. Overall, I had a good 5 month run with lashes here but I feel like they don't really care about returning customers. Good place for lash extensions though if you live in the area- just make sure you get that Groupon or Yelp check in (10% off) deal! read more

The one star is for the technician's friendly demeanor. I recently moved to the area so, I wanted to find a new lash place since my usual one is back in Glendora. The whole service was so weird. The lady didn't ask me what type of lift I wanted. She didn't talk through the process (eg. "I'm starting the timer" or "I am now applying the keratin"). After all, it's a perm so you would think they would explain as they go. Anyways, she kept poking and prodding at my eye. When I told her that it hurt she apologized, but I found it bizarre that it hurt so much because this has never happened to me at other lash bars. One of my eyes looked okay and the other looked crimped. They both look shorter than I wanted. I think she put the rod too close to the lash line, which doesn't make sense since I told her I really didn't want a curl. My previous lash tech told me that the curlier your lash is permed then the shorter it will look. I like them to look long and lifted, which is exactly why I told her not to make them curly. When she finished I looked up and didn't feel my lashes touch the top of my brow bone so I knew she didn't do it right. I should have just drove to Glendora. I won't be back. read more

Both times I've come to my appointment there's been a 20 minute wait with no one at the front desk to greet or seat me when I arrive (you have to announce you are here and someone will walk out to greet you). The waiting rooms is nice, but really I just wish there was more communication from the staff on when you can receive service, especially if you come on time to an appointment made in advance. Reading Yelp reviews I thought they would have installed a monitor to not have guests waiting in the lobby, but I guess that hasn't happened yet. Don't come here if you are running short on time! While getting lash extensions, my technician answered the phone 3 times, it felt like she wasn't really paying attention to my lashes. You are paying for time and quality service, but answering the phone multiple times takes away from this experience. Combined with long wait times and interruptions, it's not a quality session. I thought personally that the lash lift I received previously turned out better because there was more focus given to my service at that time. Finally, when you come in, they show you pics of what they can do and have you select the design you like. I chose a "fox eye" style where the lashes go from shorter to longer, but was disappointed to see ultimately how the lashes were about the same size in length all around, not giving the effect I wanted. 22 hours ago I have been coming to MM Beauty for a few years now. It was my go to place for lashes and fills and also had my eyebrows micro bladed there. I am very familiar with the owner Michelle and never did I have a complaint in regards to the services. Unfortunately when I was there last I was horribly insulted by Michele. I was in the middle of having my lashes done by Amy when an appt came in for Amy and Michele came to me saying I would have to leave and make an appt for another day! She actually wanted me to get up and leave with one eye that had lashes and one without!! To top it off my appt was with Michelle not Amy it was really wild the treatment I was given!! I was shocked with the unprofessionalism I experienced. Cindy was who spoke to for this appt and apparently she screwed up and left me having to defend myself to Michele because she insisted that I did not have an appt. I still cannot believe that she would think that I would just show up as a walk in! She actually called Cindy while I was there because I guess my word wasn't sufficient enough for her. Apparently Cindy denied ever scheduling my appt over the phone which I find absolutely frustrating. I cannot use her services anymore because it's the principal that matters to me. Not once have I ever walked in for lashes I've always made my own appts online. I made a purchase for the 2D lash extensions off of Groupon and booked my appointment through Yelp. Everything went smoothly, and booking an appointment was effortless. Parking: street parking for 3hrs, no meter. There's also a free public parking lot. Location: the shop is a tad bur difficult to find. They're tucked away inside the strip plaza. They do have a little banner hanging from suit entrance though. Definitely helped point them out from the other businesses. Process: Deciding on a shape/style: a card is given to you to choose what style/shape you want to go for. A general rule should be going in with a lash shape/style you have in mind, and asking for their opinion. I forgot to take a picture of the styles they offer, and someone correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe they were: Classic/natural: same length throughout Cute: short on the inner/outer corners, long in the center Sexy: short on inner corners, gradually longer at outer corner I think there was a fourth style I'm forgetting. After deciding shape/size and how lengthy you want your extensions to be, you're guided to another room to have the process completed. There are a few beds, calming and relaxing music playing. Time: about 45 minutes to an hour. My experience: I tend to go for more of a cat eye false lashes because my eyes are more round. A cat eye, their "sexy style", helps elongates and extenuates my eyes, making them look less round. I also opted for 2D instead of 3D. I wanted to stick with a slightly more natural look, which I did mention to the ladies. If you decide to change your mind after purchasing the Groupon package, you do get the option to pay the additional fee to get the upgrade. My friend came in and upgraded from 2D to 3D. Easy and simple, hassle free. The process was completely painless. My right eye did experience a bit of discomfort after a few hours. It's been three days since I've had them done and any sort of discomfort is gone. I've received a plethora of compliments from friends and coworkers. They all mentioned that the extensions look really natural and compliment my eye shape, which is why I stress again, ask for their opinion on what suits you! Critique: I didn't get get the name of my technician, but she I'm glad she did my lashes. Only thing I would like her to improve on is to mention what she was going to do next. Anything along the lines of, "I'm going to clean your lashes now", to "I'm turning on a fan to help dry the glue", etc. Otherwise, excellent. Don't forget to tip your technician! read more
