The food has a more traditional taste and Teri chicken is called Teri chicken, they have Chicken Katsu but the katsu sauce is spicy. The macaroni salad taste good but still has a pepper flavor. I've been trying to find a home away from home food for quite some time. Many of the places my husband and I tried fell short.. sadly. I've seen Mo' Bettah in Plano and I didn't realize there were other locations. I'm so glad that we had the time to stop at this restaurant. When I walked in, chills of home vibes quickly embraced me. It felt like home (Hawaii). I also read the mo'olelo and the owners wrote a beautiful message. I loved how they had the surfboards, large photographs of surfers, and little messages of what Shaka means and the surfboard. It was also very nice to see familiar brands such as town and country. There was a variety of plates available. My husband and I ordered the mini plate.. which was still had a lot of food. You have a choice of two proteins. My favorite has always been the teriyaki chicken so OFC I had to get that. I was surprised that they had the Pulehu chicken.. an all time favorite as well.. #iykyk! My husband got the Pulehu chicken and shrimp tempura with all rice. The Mac salad was my favorite. FINALLY! I found a place that made it right! The teriyaki chicken was 'Ono! so good. It was cooked to perfection! The pulehu chicken was a bit dry, but the flavors were still there. For the drink, OFC we had to get the POG drink. IMO - it wasn't as sweet as I remembered, but that's okay. Still good. Unfortunately there's not a restaurant closer to our house so this will be a once in a while eat out place for us. Today I was wanting rice and teriyaki sauce to go with some chicken that I already had for lunch. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew the Hawaiian places usually have some good sticky rice on hand. I popped in just to ask them for rice. It wasn't busy at all at 1130 this morning, so everyone was behind the counter, I counted 5 people, and they all wanted in on this discussion. It was actually a bit humorous. They said they could do just rice, ok, great, then they started asking how much. I tried pointing out the small to go container they had and say just enough to fill that container, then they said they charge by the scoop, I asked a few times how large a scoop was until one of the ladys finally understood over the others talking and showed me. Awesome, I need two of those scoops. Two scoops was only $2.50, great deal! Rice was good, it was nice and sticky like I wanted, and it came with two things of teriyaki sauce, which was also good. Chicken I had went real well with it. Staff is plenty jubilant and helpful. Smiles on all! It was pleasant. Inside was clean and looked nice for the atmosphere they are trying to reach. The restaurant is spacious and offers both inside and outside seating. The service was decent. More katsu chicken was needed so we paid and sat at a table waiting and our food was forgotten about until we went back up to the front to check on the status. They did get busy serving other guests so it is understandable so be patient with the workers! I've been to a couple Hawaiian spots and can confirm Mo' Bettahs is better! The inside is very spacious, clean, and decorated. I ordered a regular plate with the choice of two meats. I was really impressed by the portion size they were giving out. We could not finish our whole meal. The shrimp tempuras are freshly fried. They had a whole chicken grilling station back there too. I do think the teriyaki chicken was *slightly* overcooked, but it had great flavor. The katsu was incredibly crispy! The teriyaki sauce was okay but a little too sweet for my liking. However, the macaroni salad was SPOT ON! The noodles were perfectly cooked and coated with an appropriate amount of mayo. For ~$13ish for a regular sized plate, you get a great portion size of delicious food in a very timely manner. Definitely one of the better spots to eat in Mansfield! read more

Not sure what happened to my previous review, but anywho, such a great experience trying this place out for the first time. Been back several times already because the food is so delicious and fresh, and they cook it right in front of you. The staff is also very friendly. We've tried all of the proteins except the shrimp tempura, and they were all delicious. The macaroni salad was good too, but was very filling that I couldn't finish all my food. So just a suggestion, if you'd like to eat all your food and you're ok with not having the macaroni, just get another scoop of rice with the 2 proteins of your choice, and you're good to go!!! First time at Mo' Bettahs. Arrived on a Friday night around 7pm. Several tables were taken and several pickup orders were going out the door. You go to the counter to order. We were greeted with a smile by the workers behind the counter. We ordered four meats between us, the Kalua Pig (very delish - tasted like what I had in HI), the Pulehu Chicken, the Teriyaki Steak, and the Katsu Chicken. All the meats we tried were delicious and reasonably priced!! The meals come with macaroni salad (a little too much mayonnaise for my friend), but I liked it cabbage, and rice. I am not a huge fan of rice, but this rice was delicious...cooked perfectly. We tried the Hawaiian Sun juice drinks - they were excellent- not too sweet. Very good fruit flavor. We will be back!! We wanted to love this place, I'm sad we didn't. To start, the pro here is that the portions are very large. We tried Katsu chicken, teriyaki chicken, and pulehu chicken- I'm fairly positive that the teriyaki chicken we were served was just the pulehu and she did a tiny drizzle of teriyaki sauce on top. They tasted the exact same when we compared, but the flavor was fine. The Teri sauce is so so salty, we really couldn't eat it. Katsu wasn't anything to write home about. As far as environment goes, I honestly couldn't comment on the decor because all I could see was the uncleanliness. The bathrooms were both disgusting, pee dried all over the seats and floor. The walls in the place were strangely dirty too, I understand some scuffs but I wish I'd taken pictures to post to show what I mean. When I was cleaning up some rice from the floor below our kids I realized it looks like the floor never gets cleaned either, and not just under the tables. It honestly made me wonder if it's clean behind the counter. I leave you with this- the Pog juice is excellent. The people serving us were very nice, as well. We tried it, we won't be back. A coworker referred us to Mo' Bettahs and I was pleasantly surprised! When looking over the menu, there are mini and regular two meat options that come with two sides. Standard sides are macaroni salad and rice, but you can sub either or both for cabbage or a tossed salad ($1 extra for the salad). I ordered the Kalua Pig, Teriyaki Steak, macaroni salad, and tossed salad. While my food was good, my husband ordered teriyaki chicken and that was the star by far. I do not believe the teriyaki steak was worth the $1.50 premium and would definitely go for the chicken the next time we go. I will say that for $13-15, they give you an absurd amount of food with the regular size. I took half of mine home! All in all, the food was good, served quickly, and reasonably priced. read more
