    Strawberry waffle

Pulled up at 12:05pm for their noon open time... crickets. "Open" sign finally flips on at 12:10. A few of us walk in and stand around like confused Sims...no one at the front. Someone eventually pops out to say the manager is "pulling up" but gives us menus to browse. Manager rolls in around 12:15, tells us we can come order at the counter "whenever we're ready," then turns the TV to VEVO and blasts it like we're at a cookout. Ordered at the counter, waited about 15 mins. Food came out in to-go containers even though I was dining in. Slightly annoying, but ok. I ordered the Gorilla Bowl, which includes mac & cheese, grabbage (greens + cabbage), corn, and fried chicken all layered in one bowl. Let's break it down: Mac & cheese: 2/5. Creamy but bland and grainy. Grabbage (greens/cabbage mix): 4/5. Flavorful and well-seasoned. Corn: 3/5. Standard. Chicken: 4/5. Crispy, well-seasoned, even under toppings. Strawberry waffle (on side): 3.5/5. Floppy but tasty...pretty sure it's strawberry cake mix in waffle form. Do I care? Nope. They need a little help in the professionalism department, but the food wasn't bad. Just not amazing. I'd give it one more try. Solid 3 stars.

I've been here a few times and always order the same thing. The service is prompt, food fresh seasoned & hot. This place is a whole vibe what can I say. I'm ready for a location near me but until then I WILL TRAVEL FOR GOOD FOOD ! Vibes DON'T LIE ! Chefs Kiss !

Service was amazing! They make their punch in house and all of the food we had was incredible. The gorilla fries...I'm still dreaming about them. The crawfish gorilla nutz?? Perfect blend of spice, seasoning and tenderness. There wasn't anything we tried that we weren't falling out the chair for with how good everything tasted. Cannot wait to come back!

I just tried the cabbage and mac n cheese. Both were tasty. However, the service left a lot to be desired and is an opportunity for growth. The lady behind the counter was small chatting with, I'm assuming, a customer at the counter when I walked in. When they finally stopped talking, she just stated at me. No, "How can I help you?'", or "Dining in or pick-up?" Nothing. I spoke to her and relayed that it was my first time there but she was no help. I finally told her my order, and she took it and my money and said,"You can sit down." Someone brought my sides out about 10 mins later, placed it on the table I was sitting at, and then walked without a word. Bad customer service can kill a business. I'd suggest they make some changes to improve that.

I don't even need to see or taste their food. I ordered nearly two hours ago through Doordash. The Dasher had to wait at the store nearly 40 minutes. Now that I've finally received the order, and the food looks pretty good, I'm updating this review to say, I absolutely will not be eating at or ordering from this establishment again. The fries were not even cooked and the mac n cheese was extremely dry. This just may be the worst experience ever!

This food here was soooooo good. We went in the middle of the day on Saturday so they were BUSY. They truly make everything to order. Yes, we did wait an hour but there are signs that say this can happen. So I wasn't surprised but it was worth the wait. We got the gorilla platter, came with 18 wings. 3 flavors, we had the strawberry, wet honey lemon and gorilla. They were all delicious. We got fries, Mac and cheese and the grababage. All the sides were okay. We got all 3 flavors of waffles, strawberry, cookies and cream and cinnamon roll. They were extremely good. Not over cook and no gooey either. Just perfect. And last we had the chicken gorilla Nutz. Not for me but my husband loved them. We will definitely come again and get wings and waffles and order online so we don't have to wait. But the staff were so friendly and helpful to us while we were there. Give them a try.

I finally drove 45 mins to try this place and i have no regrets whatsoever!!! I got the Wing Combo, spicy strawberry and honey lemon. I got double gouda mac and strawberry waffles on the side which aren't pictured. I had a pre sesh beforehand and let me tell you... this is a meal that had me smiling on the inside and moaning from enjoyment. Easy 9/10. Yall will definitely be seeing me again soon thank yewww

2 Fried Pork chops with two sides. We ordered at six piece wings and between two people. It was enough with leftovers.

It's wonderful when you have a restaurant within a 5 mile location from home what went well during my first visit to Gorilla nutz! The service came with a friendly smile. Food was served hot and within minutes. I can vouch for the fried pork chops, the chicken and two thumbs up on the sides of greens/cabbage and Gouda Mac! A go to snack will be these amazing Gorilla Nutz because I love Boudin! The food quality Was superb and platter & meal portions were enough to serve 2 persons.

Service was good and inviting. The ordering method was simple. The food was pretty good, will be coming back to try more of the menu.

I heard about this place and the new location on the radio. The interior is nice, I like the color scheme. There's plenty of seating. I ordered online and the estimated wait time was accurate. The food was, sadly, average. The spicy strawberry wings were not spicy and did not taste very strawberry-ish. The lamb chops were good, not seasoned much though. Strawberry waffles were unique and not too sweet so that was good. I was disappointed in the grabbage, it was really greasy and not seasoned that well. The Gouda Mac and cheese was GREAT, the Mac and cheese with the crawfish was okay, but the crawfish were frozen. Overall, I'm glad I supported a Black-owned business but I wouldn't return.

Gorilla Nutz is a mid-sized spot where you can sit in and enjoy your meal. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the man at the register was exceptionally friendly and helpful, taking the time to talk me through the menu and help me decide what to try. We ordered the buffalo wings and the legendary strawberry wings. I was initially skeptical about the strawberry wings, but they were absolutely delicious--I couldn't stop eating them! Both flavors were cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese was tasty, and the street corn, while different from the traditional style I'm used to, was an enjoyable twist served casserole-style. I also tried the sweet tea. While I prefer southern-style sweet tea, this version had a slight lemon touch that was still refreshing and good. The meals also come with waffles but I didn't try them because I was too full. Overall, the food and service were excellent, and I'd definitely recommend checking out Gorilla Nutz if you're in the area!

What's the most unique wing flavor you've ever tried? How about Spicy Strawberry? That's just what I had the pleasure of eating when I visited Gorilla Nutz on Live Oak, inside Uptown Eats. I enjoy new and interesting flavors, but I would have never imagined Strawberry Chicken Wings, but they are delicious! Wonderfully caramelized, sticky and sweet, on big, savory, tender wings. I don't get over to Dallas often, so I couldn't stop at wings. On the side, I had their Grabbage (mix of greens and cabbage) which is a terrific spin on classic greens. The two are a great counter balance, adding flavor to the cabbage, while eliminating the bitterness that turns people away from greens. (I'm not one of those people, but mixing the two is truly the best of both worlds). I also had the Gouda Mac & Cheese, which is rich and sticky - just the way I like Mac & Cheese. I had to stop there, because that was more than enough food, but I am so anxious to stop back for the Lamb Chops, Shrimp and Grits and their other unique wing flavors! Along with some more traditional flavors, Gorilla Nutz also serves up Buffalo Lemon, Wet Honey Lemon and Tropical Lime! This is a shared kitchen, and all carry-out, so know that before you go. Check out Gorilla Nutz. You have never had food quite like this!

We walked in to an empty restaurant but I'm so glad we decided to stay! These folks were very friendly!! Customer service was on point! The wings were great! We had the tropical lime, gorilla & buffalo lemon. We were careful to ask that they not be over cooked after reading reviews. They were cooked perfectly!! And those flavors were fire The Mac and cheese had a great flavor and texture. The corn had good flavor but was overly cheesy! Good street corn just has a bit on the top. The fries were nice, fresh and crispy not soggy. The greens were definitely Glory mixed with cabbage. The flavor of those canned greens is very distinct so I could taste it. And the cabbage was too mushy in the greens. Please don't short cut on the greens. Try a sauté method on fresh greens and add in the cabbage when they're nearly done. I stopped eating Glory because of the preservative taste. Those could have been much better on the palate. The Gorilla Nutz were nice. They were served with cheese but we put that on the side cause well, Mac n cheese, corn n cheese, sooo ‍ we didn't eat more cheese. The waffles tasted soft and like they had been pre-cooked. A fresh waffle would've been great but we ate them nonetheless. The shrimp and grits were also very tasty, however, they were floating in some type of oil. We couldn't tell if it was butter and olive oil or just oil. It was a bit too much. We used a napkin to get some of it out. The grits could have cooked a few more minutes. The texture was a tad gritty but that happens with grits. Otherwise very good! We will return. It was worth the drive out especially to support a BOB! We've got to try that lemonade next time!

First thing that stood out is that the wings were great sizes in both the bone in flats and boneless!!! With comparable pricing to other places in the area as well! Every flavor I tried tonight was SO good. They have a special texas flavor they had us try that is the Buffalo hot with the garlic parmesan, probably my go to from now on! It's on the secret menu so don't be scared to ask for it!! The fries are waffle style with a great crunch and great seasoning ratio. I'm such a sauce girl and didn't even need any they tasted so good! The next thing they had us try were the sweet corn nuggets with a sweet chili sauce. The crunch they have were great since some places are soggy. They have grilled instead of fried wings, halal and vegetarian options too, as well as plan on having alcohol options in the future as well. I can't wait to come back!! It's also BYOB after 4pm!

The coleslaw wasn't anything to rave about. The wings here is the winner and the bacon glaze sauce was a knockout.
