Great experience with these guys and would refer them and come back again. We had called Poison Spider initially but they were a bit douche'y to my boyfriend over the phone so we were going to scratch mt. biking altogether. Last minute, we took off to town on our rest day from climbing and saw Moab Cyclery right off of Main Street and decided to check it out. I'm a novice rider but not completely green to two wheels on a singletrack, while Matt is more advanced and this used to be his primary sport. But still, he hadn't been riding in years so we didn't know what to expect with Moab trails. Not only was it crucial we get a bike that we felt comfortable on but it was important to figure out which trail might be best for us to ride together at our differing skill levels. Zephyr assisted us well with that and we only had a few hours before closing. We had an extra challenge in that the weather was pretty poor (high winds, rain coming and going and even some lightning). Zephyr ultimately helped us choose some options for trails that would be more sheltered than the high exposure on Slick Rock. And she also gave us some details on what to expect as far as technical challenges along the way. She is very knowledgeable about the riding in the area. We chose their GTs with a 27.5 wheelset, full suspension (forgot the model name). That saved my ass for sure. Our ride began on Amasa, continued onto Hymasa to ultimately go up and back down on Ahab. We felt a bit sandbagged by how much time it would take to complete it (only because Zephyr is a bad-ass rider :)....or I should say for ME to complete that loop. It took me an extra hour due to the steep drops; however, it was some of the funnest riding I had ever done..... a crazy storm with a time limit made it even more exciting! It was an adventurous day and if I lived out in Moab, I can see how one would become addicted to this (aside from the climbing that's out there). I would suggest that if you're going to still get on an advanced trail, to at least be fit if you are not an expert mt. biker. Or try out a sample of the trail first. We made it back in time to return the bikes so the guys could leave work at their scheduled hours and gave them some beer money for helping us with the awesome day out. They were incredibly nice and we appreciated that kind of service. read more

Awesome LBS. I got to Moab and needed some maintenance done before I could hit the trail. They got me to the front of the line and had me in and out quick. Everyone was friendly and helpful but for the price, not a good value. The length of time spent on the trails biking was minimal compared to what we had expected. Our half day of cycling amounted to about an hour of actual trail time. We experienced a flat tire. The spare tubes on three of our bikes had holes in them. The guide had to use her undersized spare tube to repair it. We spent more time repairing and adjusting equipment than we did riding. The trails we were riding were nice but an overpriced disappointing experience. read more

was in moab to ride the mag 7 trail, stopped by the shop. super friendly guys. the shop had a great vibe and feel, lots of good merchandise, and helpful knowledgeable staff. i read some of the negative reviews this shop has, and i can't believe they are talking about this shop. that bearded mechanic guy the one dude talked about was very soft spoken and professional, i don't see him threatening anyone. perhaps the one reviewer is just afraid of guys with dirty hands and beards. i would totally rent a bike from them and would totally go back to them for help or service and i would recommend them. read more

BEST. DAY. EVER. Two girlfriends and I had never been mountain biking and only had a few hours instead of being able to bike the whole day. Eric was so flexible and friendly! We had a blast, he did such a good job of giving us the high level basics of how to use the bike, what to expect, and made it our own special experience and he did a great job of adapting to our skill level. There was zero pressure to do well, it was more about having fun and learning. He also gave us a lot of information about the area and desert. It was so much fun and such a great experience we all decided we are going to come back and do a full mountain biking excursion! And we will definitely be planning it through Moab Cyclery. They were just awesome and we can't wait to go back and see them again! Already planning to go back in March. We rented bikes from Moab Cyclery twice, for a week last autumn and for another week just now. We've also used their shuttle service several times. I've no idea why their rental rates are so much less expensive than their competitors', because our experience has been nothing but brilliant. There are lots of bikes to choose from, something for everyone. The bikes we rented were in excellent condition and perfectly tuned, and set up with really great tires for local conditions. (Some shops use cheaper tires that wear longer, which sucks because they never grip nearly as well.) The service was friendly and expert. The mechanics set the shocks etc. up for us and provided us with flat kits. They were more than happy to help us with the bikes throughout the week, although needed very little help since the bikes were already dialed. The shuttle drivers are super-friendly and full of great info about local riding. The inside shop people are a bit more variable, but even the cooler-than-you ones will mark your maps with helpful advice about local trails. We'll definitely be back. read more

Upon reading other reviews, I felt it necessary to comment. First of all, I've been to Moab many times. Over the last ten years it's been a wonderful place to retreat from the winter doldrums here in CO. And, it's a wonderful place to visit in the late fall (most years). Specifically, this shop has helped me time and time again. I've had mechanical issues with my bike = fixed. I've rented, or 'demo'ed' = Super Stoked. I've bought maps and asked for information on new trails = Satisfied. I've even taken showers here when it was necessary = CLEAN. In short, this place has always been completely professional = AWESOME! I have no issues with other shops in town, but MC has always given me the time of day and service that I've come to respect. If your undies are in a bunch before you arrive, consider visiting another place in town. But, if you're prepared and in the mood for some great riding, give this place a shot. Heck. read more
