Shortly before we were due to leave I discovered that the motel we were staying in did not provide ice. I used Yelp to find the nearest convenience store and called to verify they had small cubed ice for sale. The clerk assured me they did and I drove right over. I wish I had the man's name. He was truly exceptional in customer service. He recognized me as the woman who called. He proceeded to make a bag of fresh ice for me so the cubes would not be stuck together when we filled our water bottles and small chest. When paying I tried to tip him. He said all tips go into a jar for the local animal rescue. We got into a quick conversation about my adopted kittens and his tiny little chicken. I left with a smile on my face. A simple transaction had turned a stressful situation into a delightful part of my day. I will be sure to use this location again when visiting Astoria.

We are out money for a tow, and repair and Valvoline has yet to make us whole or contact us. Dawson Cook the manager at this shop has not once contacted us and we have called Valvoline & submitted all receipts and have repeatedly been told a check will be sent, yet with each call we make we get the same story - that Dawson Cook hasn't submitted his part of the paperwork. Do not give this place your business, if anything goes wrong you cannot speak to anyone that actually deals with the problem you are just sent "further up the chain" which gets you nowhere. We submitted our claim with all receipts and need this resolved. Claim # CS2247067. Plan on hiring an attorney if you use Seaside Valvoline.

Instead of doing the oil change properly, their technician chose to vacuum the oil out because removing the undercarriage cover would "take too long." We relied on their expertise and trusted they knew what they were doing. The car was driven a short distance after the service and seemed fine. The next morning, however, it started misfiring immediately and was clearly unsafe to drive. The vehicle remained parked until it could be evaluated, and was eventually towed to a certified mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed a missing camshaft seal and advised that this type of failure is consistent with improper oil extraction using suction equipment and would not occur during a standard oil change. We paid $613.79 in repairs, plus the original $97.95 oil change. We made multiple attempts to contact the shop (calls and email). Eventually, their claims manager called on 3/25/2026 and denied the claim solely because they didn't get to inspect the vehicle first--ignoring the fact that the car was unsafe to drive and that we didn't even know they caused the issue until after a professional diagnosis and repair. At this point, it's not just about the damage, it's about accountability. Cutting corners for convenience caused real damage, and they've refused to take responsibility. We are now pursuing this through small claims court. Use caution. An oil change shouldn't result in engine damage.

There may have been a few out there who gave less, but for me this gas station is a TOTAL LIFE SAVER! We almost ran out of gas and then God showed us this place!!!Yea the place looks like it needs a few renovations, but HEY! The people who works there are phenomenal! I don't care what others say. Some people say its scary, it used to be a gun shop, blah blah yada yada yada! "DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!" Great people! Great service! Not a lot of people appreciate people who have the guts to run a gas station in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a beautiful array of lush trees and 13miles away from Astoria!
