Came here for the NY inspection and was told by one of the staffs over the phone that it would be $37 pass or fail and that it would take 15-20 mins for it to be completed. After 15 mins or so, one of the mechanics came and told me that I need to get my brakes repaired and it I didn't I wouldn't pass the inspection. I was told the cost would be around $350-$400 and after 2 hours, I saw that my bill would be $400 for the brakes. I didn't like that he told me a price range and at the end gave me the higher price for two brakes to be replaced and changed. I am no mechanic myself but I don't think he should've charged $400 without having a breakdown of the cost. My overall total did come out to $472 because of the inspection and of course, tax. But I do like that they displayed prices of things that they offered, that way you can see the prices for yourself. This place is not worth for full service. I did a big mistake by going n filling up my car gas. The full service old man had super bad attitude n he was the most horrible person. I didn't pay him tip he showed me attitude n didn't gave me receipt also. He Didn't had manners to talk n even didn't gave me the receipt. He wanted tip which he was not worth for any tip. This is my new spot for auto repair. I don't know a lot about cars. I used to go to a different auto shop for years but I felt they alway over charged me for small fixes. So someone recommended me this place and I went there a couple times, one time for inspection and one time for my ac repair. Their service was quick and professional. My inspection was done in 15 minutes. For the repair, the owner told me about the issues with my car and cost before they fix it, and the cost was fair and reasonable. I was driving and all of a sudden the car's check engine light came on. I was near Micky's gas station and pulled in. I was stressed about what to do. Micky was super friendly and helped calm me down. The staff checked out the issue and explained in laymens terms what was wrong with the car. I called my husband to have Micky explain what needed to be done. The shop is fairly priced and the technicians are knowledgeable in the work they do. They didn't try to over charge nor did they try to rack up the bill by saying additional things that needed to be done (I called a few other places when they told me what was wrong to get price comparisons and this shop was the best priced.) We use this place for all of our regular maintenance like oil change and inspections as it truly is a one stop shop for car repairs and it's super easy to get an appointment scheduled. I drove into this gas station without knowing this is a full-service place. Two things I noticed, and I gave 1 star. 1. I asked for a full tank, but I did not ask the employee to pull the trigger outside the tank and waste the gas on the ground to make $28.00 even. 2. PHOTO INSPECTION: So you don't get any confirmation from them once you finished with the photo inspection . They are suppose to send it directly to your insurance company . What happened if they don't ? You insurance company will cancel the full coverage on your policy - that's what happened to me . When I found out from the insurance company about it and went back there , they told me they can't give me any proof I did it and I have to do it all over again . Incredible attentive service. Tony was professional, fast, courteous and honest. Came in for new tires, inspection, brake/coolant/transmission flush. Yes, my civic was a mess. It did not have a proper check up in more than 5+ years. Well, it is now all taken care of. Disclaimer: The new owner of this establishment sent me a message and told me that this business is under new management and asked me to remove my feedback. I would LOVE to do so if: 1. The business has really changed hand; 2. Service and attitude of this business deserves me to change it's rating to a better one. However, I would like to keep this older review because I think people live around me should know what I have encountered. Thus, they could avoid incidents that I have experienced. Original review: I went to this facility for annual NYS inspection for my handicapped neighbor. I also went there for an oil change for the same neighbor. Every encounter with this facility was not a pleasant one. First time was an oil change, they pulled every single filter and part that they claimed my neighbor needed to change. I figured my neighbor might need to change her air filter so I agreed to change that after struggling to convince them that was not my car etc. Today, I went back again for inspection because all other inspection stations were full. More than one man was holding a torch to find what they could squeeze money from me. They saw a small batch of oil, they looked so serious when they asked me to go look at that "leaking" and I told them it was not my car I was not authorized to do work on this car. And they spotted another thing: for NYS inspection, 1 wheel is taken off to check if the brake is good. So they took the wheel off and asked me to look at the brake pad. The man told me that the brake was nearly gone. So I went there and looked at it. Good that my family is in the car business (not in NY), so when I looked at the pad, I knew instantly that they wanted to scam me again. So I told the man that the pad still has a lot of it. He became silent despite he took of the wiper blades and asked me to change them asap (good that he said he didn't have it in stock). I want to point out that if people were not coming from a background with cars or knew something about cars, they WILL scam you and make you pay for something you may not even need to. Please avoid this facility at all cost or unless you know your car and just drop in for an inspection! read more

I just started using this shop, twice in the last month. 1st was for inspection... guys were very professional, clean, courteous , and attentive. They asked if had any questions or wanted any thing else checked out. Inspection passed without being scammed :) 2nd time was for oil change... Again same type of service, they knew their stuff excellent mechanics... they knew my car in and out and provided tips and helpful information to maintain my car. Let me just say I've hear of rip-off auto shops before, but this place right here takes 1st place. So the other morning I notice smoke coming the hood of my car while driving on the L.I.E. so I pulled over, I notice that one end on hose going to the radiator had come off and the clamp was blocking me from sliding it back on. So I made my way to the first auto shop I could find just to have someone help slip the hose back on and I could be on my way. So I told the tech what was wrong, he could see what was wrong and agreed that it just appears to have slipped off and no problem to put back on. So $170.93 later I'm back on the road, this guy couldn't even look me in my face when he gave the clerk the bill: $90 to Re-attached the hose to the radiator, $60 for Pink Antifreeze(which I didn't need) & $7 for a Hose Clamp(which I already had & just needed to be moved) Never again will I stop at this place, I'm not even stopping for gas. I came to this shop recommended by my warranty. My car was leaking coolant from the Water Pump. It was suppose to be an easy fix. It is been three weeks now and they said they replaced the water pump twice and the car is still leaking!! I spoke to Raj, the mechanic in charge and he gives just ridiculous excuses. Plus he turned my car all dirty inside/outside, full of grease and all, disgusting quality of labor!! I have spent a lot of time going to that place and will have to go again. My experience with Main Street Auto Center was an extremely positive one. Gregg and his staff are extremely caring, understanding, and most of all honest. I had an issue with my car in that it failed to start up. I was expecting to get hit with a big bill because of a bunch of failed car terms that I would not understand. Before they gave me a diagnosis, I went to speak with one of the guys working there and told him I believe that my gas gage was inaccurate and that the issue was that I ran out of gas. While the line was out the door and the mechanics were very busy, this man dropped what he was doing, helped me with putting gas into my car, which in of itself was not easy, moved all the problematic cars surrounding my car, and before I knew it i was on the road again. The service here is fast and organized. There should not even be a question in one's mind if they have any car issue. The first thought should be Main Street Auto Center. After all the help I received from the staff, I was not hit with any bill, besides for of course paying for the gas. I want to publicly thank Main Street Auto Center for all there help and specifically the one man who really went beyond extraordinary measures to make sure my car was running perfectly. It baffles me that someone had a negative experience with Main Street Auto Center. I truly believe that there must have been a miscommunication. There is no way that they intentionally try scamming people. If you choose for them to inspect your car, which if you want your car inspected everyone should, they are going to make sure everything about your car is safe and fully operational. sad thing about this business is that the guys in the garage work shop and fore court are very pleasant individuals..however the owners charge credit card rates when using a debit card..this i cannot imagine is legal (in spite of the fact that it is as a small sign is posted). not impressed...other local stations do not do so..even for credit card transactions.... read more
