My wife, who is 42, wasn't allowed to buy a lottery ticket because she didn't have ID. Fine--maybe that's the rule. But then I, a 36-year-old with grey hair and a full beard, was denied a lighter because I didn't show ID. The cashier insisted it was "state law," which is completely false. You don't even need to be 18 to buy a lighter in California. The staff here move like they're in slow motion and act like they've never been trained. It's like walking into a break room at a retirement home where no one knows what's going on. I'm all for protecting kids from adult products--but that's not what this is. This is incompetence, plain and simple. To the owner: pay a little more and hire people who can think. Right now, your store is staffed with the most clueless group of people I've ever seen in customer-facing roles. Do better.

But that's not what impressed me. There were only two employees, Brenda & Daniela, & no manager on site. Brenda was outside sweeping a parking stall where a nearby tree drops its leafs. Daniela was inside mopping the floor between customers. These two are excellent employees and should be made an example for others to follow.

Wondering if they're just stating the obvious OR if they're trying to push people up to the more expensive 91 grade gas, which apparently, they feel is "not slow" by default. I have another great idea...fix your pumps.
