They carry everything painting related that you could possibly need, so it's a great, one-stop paint shop. I went in to get some ideas as to what color to paint my newly renovated kitchen. The main line they carry is Benjamin Moore. It's a quality paint, and the displays they had offered plenty of paint chip samples for me to choose from. While there I also picked up a beautiful metallic paint for an arts and crafts project. At the register I asked where cheap paint brushes would be - and they man showed me they had three differently-sized $5 brushes right at checkout. So smart and so convenient. I've narrowed down my color choices, so I called ahead to get two sample colors made. Each color cost $6.99, and was ready by the time I arrived to pick it up. They also provided recommendations for painters when I asked, which is so useful. Why deal with the hassle of a big box store, when you can shop here with no fuss? They have been in business since 1933, and I hope they make it another 87 years!

I was having a problem with finishing exterior doors at my office. I stripped, sanded down to bare…read morewood, re-stained, and applied the final spar urethane topcoats. It kept appearing hazy and would not clear up, no matter if I brushed it on, diluted with mineral spirits, or wiped on with a rag. I have gone into every paint store I could find in the St. Pete area big and small with this problem. Even called MinWax twice. I searched online for hours for suggested solutions. Finally, I walked into the Dyco Paints and asked manager James Brown. After I explained everything I had done, he said try using a water-based spar urethane instead of the oil-based I had been using. Well no stores in this area carry it, but I did have it delivered within a day. It solved the problem!! Now I have a very clear urethane topcoat. I cannot believe that of all the places I tried, all the websites I searched, James was the only person that could solve this problem.
