These Guys Saved Me Over $250..plus gave me some great advice! The screen on my iPhone 5 was coming off and my Home button had already fallen off. I went to the AT&T store earlier in the day and they wanted $450 for a replacement! The tech at AT&T told me that I could buy the same phone online for cheaper, so I went home and found one for $270! I thought that was great! Luckily, I told my wife before I purchased. She suggested that I take my phone to Mobile Kangaroo in San Mateo since she had a good experience there with a cracked iPhone screen. Normally, I don't trust these places, but we're kind of hurting for cash at the moment and I wasn't doing anything that day, so I decided to check it out...and I'm so glad I did! Steven greeted me and I showed him the phone. Initially, he thought the screen was cracked since my screen protector was cracked. He quoted me $99 for the screen and $25 for the Home button. And, he said they could do it in 10-15 minutes! I was ecstatic thinking I'd just saved another $150 and a week! When Steven took a deeper look at the phone, he realized that my screen wasn't cracked and the reason that it was coming off was due to the battery. He quickly took apart the phone and showed me the battery. It was all puffy and swollen. He told me it was due to overcharging! I always have my phone in a charger...at home, at night, in the car and at work. It rarely goes below 90%. Steven told me this was bad for the battery and that I should only charge it over night or when it's below 5%. He then said they were out of batteries, but he'd give me a used one and order a new one. However, he found good used one and told me he wouldn't charge me for it! Then he fixed the Home button. He tried several buttons before he found one that fit perfectly. He replaced the Home button with a brand new one in less than 10 minutes. I then asked him to look at the Power button since the phone was dissassembled. He told me that there was a recall on iPhone 5's due to defective Power buttons. He told me to bring it to the Apple Store and they'd replace it for free! The total bill was $25!!! And I had already figured that I was going to have to spend close to $300 to get a replacement phone! So, I figured I saved $275 plus got lots of great advice! I went to the Apple Store on the way home and, sure enough, there is a recall on iPhone 5 Power buttons. They're fixing it now...for free! And, FYI, before they took my phone, they ran it through a diagnostic test to see if the phone had been tampered with and everything came up clean...they specifically tested the Home button and the battery and both passed with flying colors! I'll be bringing all my electronics to Mobile Kangaroo first from now on! Thanks, Steven. You could have taken advantage of me, but you didn't. Thanks for the great and honest service. Take your apple watch here for battery replacement rather than going to the Apple store. It will take less than a week. $87 or the door and you get a refurbished watch from Apple. Apple store was not interested in replacing the battery on my watch. Apple was quoting me upwards of $200 even when the price should be $79. They said it was because my watch was out of warranty. read more

I broke my brand new phone screen (samsung S5 sport) and was smart enough to get the insurance so went to Mobile Kangaroo to have it repair. Unfortunately my phone was so new that it was impossible to get the frame - they could only order the screen. Robert and team went out of their way to try and find the parts for me. it's sad that yelp is a land where most people don't write reviews unless reviewers believe they really love the business (or hate in some instances), even when the love isn't truly fully deserved. that's why there are some truly overrated business on yelp. mobile kangaroo is the exception, and deserves every 5 star review it gets. i brought a nexus 5 to them recently, thinking it was mere screen damage. after a quick diagnosis, it turned out to be water damage, and big time water damage. ted spent a lot of time working on the device, replacing parts, and keeping me up to date, until he called me telling me that the phone was fixed. for $80, that's a huge relief considering buying a used replacement would cost over $250. when i pick up the device, i check it out, and it appears fixed! however, i get the device home, and the same problem crops up again. i reached out to ted, he told me to bring it back, and i did, and he tried again for several days. now, you have to appreciate my mindset--i was fully expecting the phone to be a goner when i first found out about the water damage, anything he could do to rescue it was a miracle. well, a few days later, he wrote back saying there is nothing further he could do. i guess i'm back to square one, but $80 lighter (to me, it's worth the cost if he could have rescued it--plus, the guy's gotta make a few bucks for his work). well, when i went to pick up the phone, he refunded me the $80! i couldn't believe it, as i know he spent hours trying to fix the phone. kudos to ted, he's a true professional and a pleasure to deal with. truly deserving of all 5 stars! p.s., i was able to find another broken nexus 5 on cl and brought it to him for parts, which he frankensteined the phone back together for $60. all in all, a win-win for me, a replaced phone below replacement cost, and a new go-to for phone repairs! read more

Was contacted very quickly after my last review. I brought the phone in on Monday and all the water damaged was fixed for free and available before the end of that day. My phone is working great now, the screen has a watermark on the right corner but I can definitely live with that. They still did offer to replace the screen for $80 the next day.
