I took it in to Robert who said he could repair it quickly but had a few customers ahead of me. It ended up that he fell about a half hour behind which wouldn't really be that big of a deal but it kind off messed with my kids practice times. I had a Samsung Galaxy S3 which had a faulty connector for power charging. Ted at the San Mateo store was able to solder the new part and check it. It works like a champ! He understood that I needed my phone and worked quickly and efficiently to fix it so I could pick it up the same day. They have a Yelp deal where you pay $10 to get $20 worth of service. Nice. This store also has a service that if you want to purchase a phone from a 3rd party, you can have them meet you at the store. Then Mobile Kangaroo will check the phone and make sure it is "clean", not stolen, etc. before you take ownership. I will take them up on this deal when I buy from a 3rd party in the future. Ted is a huge boss, in every sense of the word. I came in to get a quick screen replacement on my Nexus 4 but the replacement stopped working once I got home. Ted invited me back to the store for a replacement, but there was something wrong with that one too. Over the next few weeks, the guy ordered screens from a few different suppliers because of minor quality problems with each screen that came in. I must have come in 5 different times in total because of weird little issues with each replacement (once the camera lenses was foggy; once the screen was too dark; once it was slightly smaller than my original resolution size). These were 100% supplier problems and Ted apologized each time, even though it wasn't his fault. Each time, Ted was super courteous and installed a new, and better, screen until I was completely satisfied. Oh and then, for my troubles, he threw in a free battery replacement. Stellar guy. Cannot recommend highly enough. read more

Why does this store have good reviews? The store is NEVER open. Been her two times at 10a and not a cat in sight. Went back at 130p sign on the door says our to lunch w/ no return time!! I'd give them five stars, but I don't know about consistency yet. Went in with a phone on the fritz. I explained the problems, Eli worked on it for a few minutes and let me know what was wrong, how they would fix it, and how much it would cost. With all the 5-star reviews on here, I expected to also be able to give Mobile Kangaroo 5 stars. I WANT to. But that wasn't my experience. Maybe everyone is just basking in the glow of having a working phone again? If that's what we're talking, then yes, 5 stars for the repair performed. I do greatly appreciate having my cracked screen fixed. Stars deducted, however, for: -the long time it took to get the screen shipped in -inconvenient hours for 8-5ers (you're basically limited to coming in on your lunch break, because they most likely won't have enough time at the end of the day to work on it) -occasionally not being able to get through on the phone (and there's no voicemail) and wait time to be greeted in the store (this seems to be due to a small staff) -a somewhat dingy storefront in need of a Swiffer that doesn't make for the most pleasant wait Though those things caused the experience to be more of a headache than expected, when all's said and done, my screen is fixed, the price is right, and the employees were friendly and apologetic for the issues encountered. With a bit of tweaking, this place could be great, and I'd try them again. read more

Came in with a phone screen that was so badly cracked that it was missing parts of the screen. Not only that, but part of the screen had bent so it was somewhat coming out of the phone. Highly recommend this place! I needed a new battery on my 3GS in order to hold out till the 5 comes out. I didn't get the guy's name, but he was VERY helpful, courteous, and professional. There were a number of phones in front of mine, but they were waiting on parts, so he just did mine first. I played 4 levels of Super Mario Bros. 3 that they had on their modded Wii, and didn't even notice that my phone was completed in that short time. I was a little bummed, as I wanted to keep playing Wii. Store is very modern and clean. $35 and 15 minutes later, I had a new battery, and my phone is great. Battery is back to normal. Only tiny issue I had was a SIM card error later when I got home, but after removing it and putting it back in, it has not ever happened again. Everything is good! I also overheard the guy talking to a customer, and he stated nothing there is over $45, unless nearly everything on the phone needs replacing. Lifetime warranty as well. Any issues, just bring it back. read more

My iPhone 4's home button has been a bit moody for a while, and a few days ago, the lock button pretty much stopped working. Of course, the phone is now out of warranty, so I knew I'd have to pay to get it fixed. I checked online at first to see if there was a quick fix, but no such luck. I took it into the Apple Store, and was told that the buttons can't be fixed, and that the whole phone would have to be replaced. Of course, the silver lining is that it would only cost me $149 + tax, and wouldn't reset my contract at all! I looked at the guy, told him that I know the repair is possible, and no thanks. This morning, I went down to Mobile Kangaroo. The guy there, Richard, quoted me $35 for the lock button, and $40 for both (the yelp deal brought it down to $25 total). He was friendly and professional, and since I had something with me to do, I went ahead and waited in the store. During my time there, approximately 35 minutes, I saw Richard handle at least half a dozen customers with the same friendliness and professionalism he showed me, and I didn't see even one person leave upset or dissatisfied. Once my repair was done, he showed me how to clean out the home button myself if it ever gets sticky again, so that I don't have to come in again. I should also note that on my receipt, it stated that there is a 30 day warranty on the service performed. My phone is back to working perfectly, the experience was quick, professional, and very reasonable, and I'd definitely recommend them to anyone needing an out-of-warranty repair! I have taken two of my phones to be repaired there and both times I left a happy customer. The first time they were repaired a cracked screen on my LG phone and the second time they replaced the charge port for my iPhone 4. I took that same iPhone to the Apple store and they told me my phone was unrepairable. So I would highly recommend anyone who has been told that their phone is unrepairable to take it to mobile kangaroo for their opinion. read more

They refused to replace my cracked screen because my "Find my iPhone" was still turned on. My phone was sitting right there in front of them the whole time. It wasn't lost; no one was trying to sell it for parts. I have the receipt showing I paid $749 cash for it. I have the serial and IMEI numbers. My credit card is still in the Wallet app. What happened to common sense and critical thinking? Do people not use them anymore? Phone was not lost (as it was also there on their computer screen) so why did "Find my iPhone" have to be turned off before it could be fixed? Has anyone explained to them, and all APPLE "geniuses" what that app was designed to do??? If they have any common sense or can think for themselves for once, they'd know that replacing the screen would have allowed me to accept the verification codes Apple has been sending to that phone for a week now. Then I could've reset my password and turned the stupid "Find my iPhone" off. Also, no one wanted to honor the AppleCare+ I've been paying for months either. It seems power tripping still TRUMPs compassions even during a difficult time such as this. I understand now why the 1% is able to easily keep us down and separated: people will do anything to be accepted including blindly following orders without thinking for themselves. read more

I had a major accident with my Galaxy S3, dropping my iPod Touch on top of its screen (Alex, I'll take "Things That Can Only Happen to Complete Geeks for $100). Read the reviews on Yelp, printed the coupon and headed on in. I'm not sure where they get their employees, but I hope somebody invents cloning REALLY soon. I got the most AMAZING customer service. So friendly and polite, even tried to give me some cheaper options for fixing the screen in case I was looking to save money. With my wedding coming up on Saturday, I just wanted to get it done. They gave me a small break in addition to the coupon, just because they knew how stressed I was and how expensive weddings are. When I mentioned to the guy that I was impressed by their Yelp rating, he said "It helps when you're doing what you love." He even wished me good luck on my wedding as I was leaving!
