Bad experience with this place. They are not professional and have sketchy knowledge of cell phones and want to use your devices to experiment on. The gory details: The earphone of my Motorola Atrix stopped working. I dropped this off with Taz, the guy who runs the place there. He kept it for a few days and then called to say it might be a hardware issue. Cost to replace a board inside it was $80, which I authorized on the phone because I was hadicapped without a phone. He called a day later and asked me to pick it up. When I did, the phone had been re-initialized. I set it up again with my MotoBlur account, but the earphone was still not working. So I go back to him and say what he meant when he said it was fixed. He said he could not test it because he did not have my MotoBlur account! The gall!! He basically put in some junk in there and gave it back to me, without verifying if it worked or not! Then he asks me to leave the phone for another day and he will test it. I said no thanks, since I could not afford any more downtime without a phone. I asked for a refund, which he refused, saying that it was not his fault. Net, net: I spent 4 days without a phone, made 3 trips to his store, spent $80 and my phone is in exactly the same state. In hindsight, I should have attempted to go to AT&T. This place is a waste of time. read more

( I posted this on google reviews as well) I am incredibly discontent with the fixing of my iphone 5s and my overall experience with Mobile Kangaroo. My phone had batter damage causing it to be stuck on a white apple screen and the screen was cracked. I had done research to see what could be done, and it is a simple battery fix and a screen replacement which would in no way jeopardize my data, yet at mobile kangaroo they don't actually fix phones they are simply slaves to Apple, so because 'Apple' decided to simply replace the phone there was 'nothing they could do' about ALL of my data being lost, including around 8,000 photos from a recent vacation, hundreds of thousands of text messages, and more, even though there was no need to replace the phone entirely. Mobile kangaroo gave me a temporary phone for the few days mine was getting 'fixed' and the phone they gave me was incredibly glitchy, as you could barely even type, scroll, open an app without everything freaking out moving and the screen shaking. I told this to the guy and he apologized saying I was the first one to test out this replacement phone, which is extremely puzzling as when I received the phone the first thing on the safari browser was porn, which is incredibly unprofessional. Even if it was not one of them on that site, they should still clear the phones of any pasts costumers' search history and data before handing them out again. When they replaced my actual phone, the 'brand new' iphone they gave me also has software problems, as the screen will occasionally turn blue or red and black striped, and it constantly shuts off to the white apple screen, as did the one I took to get fixed, ironic. Honestly they are not any cheaper (screen repairs are like $130 or something, very expensive) than any other actual phone repair site, so please save your hundreds of dollars and take your phone somewhere else. read more

I was very displeased with my service there. I went in to have a problem fixed with my phone (I couldn't be heard when I talked to anyone), and after they had replaced the microphone (at considerable expense, discovered that the problem wasn't solved. I went back and complained and received an incredibly rude and inappropriate response. The guy there actually had the gall to come back and claim the problem was fixed because the microphone he had replaced, unnecessarily, was fine. It turns out that the input port was blocked, easily repaired with 3 or 4 minutes of work with a toothpick. In the end, my phone WAS fixed, after 2 visits, and paying 100 dollars in completely unnecessary work. They obviously didn't check to see if the problem had been fixed before giving it to me. I do not recommend anyone patronizing this particular store. Given the overwhelmingly positive reviews from other locations, I now suspect the problem is the complete incompetence of the people at this store alone. I might patronize the business in other locations, but this location is a complete loser. read more

Avoid at all costs!!! When I had a dentist appointment, I accidentally found this place and came in for a quick cosmetic fix for my iPhone 5. I had used the phone for ~2 years and it was in okay to good condition. The edge of the phone popped up a little bit. After a quick examination, Jacob informed me that the glue on the edge melted down due to exposure to sun. He recommended applying glue to the edge. The repair took about 30 minutes. I got my phone back and then realized something weird on the upper left corner (see attached photos). It seemed like that glue spilled over the corner with a big finger print. I came back and asked for fix. Totally unexpected, they wouldn't accept the responsibility at all. They kept blaming that my phone was at the worst situation when bringing in. Really??? The condition of my phone is okay to good, although not great. It worked smoothly when I came in and had no issue at all with the screen. I would totally understand if Jacob admitted the mistake and tried to fix. Jacob didn't accept the responsibility at all but kept humiliating me and my phone. In fact, he admitted "pressed the screen too heavily" during conversation and then he changed his saying later on. I didn't realize that a cellphone repair shop can break my phone. I thought about trading-in before came to the shop but now the phone worth nothing. I asked for a refund, but the manger refused. Basically they mentioned that the price I paid (~$25) is too cheap for their labor. ~$25 was the price they asked for. I paid for fixing my phone, not breaking my phone. The only workaround they offered is to replace the whole screen. The "great" deal that they offered is ~$80 with one month warranty, discounting from original price $99 (Lied right in front of me. During examination, Jacob informed me the price of replacing whole screen is ~$80). I got tired and just wanted to get this done. I almost accepted the workaround; what more ironic is that they used my phone to call each other and started a conversation. I asked the reason and they claimed that they wanted to test the phone and made sure there is no issue. Okay. How does screen fix has anything to do with call quality or connection? I guessed enough humiliation is enough. I took my phone and left. I easily replaced a screen elsewhere with ~$75 and one year warranty. I came in for an easy fix. I paid ~$25, not got refunded, and ended up with a broken phone. Thank you so much, mobile Kangaroo! This is a terrible terrible place lacking of honesty, responsibility and respect!!! DO NOT go there. My laptop had the blue screen of death. So I took it to mobile kangaroo, big big mistake. Well I drop my laptop off to them to fix. They told me that it will take a day to fix, so I said fix it and upgrade the memory for me. The next day Saturday comes up and they told me that they need another day to fix it. There not open on Sunday, but they said they would be in to fix it so I could have it Sunday. I told them not to rush just give it to me on Monday. It's Monday now and still no laptop. I had to call them again and they told me that need another day and will call you. Tuesday around 5:30 pm now and no phone, so I call them again. Guess what? They need another day because they said its the mother board now that needs to be fixed and will call you tomorrow to tell you what's wrong with it. Wednesday now and it's around 4:00pm, so this time I go over there to find out what's going on with my laptop. So I'm talking to the tech and the boss comes over and said. I just got back from a trip, but it looks like your laptop needs a video card and we need it for another day and I'll work in getting your laptop fixed. I was like cool. Thursday now and guess what. No phone call, do I call them around 5:00pm. No answer, But I leave a message on there voice mail. Asking them to call me. Friday 10:15am I call them and the tech answers. I asked him why did the boss or who ever didn't call me call back to tell me what's up. He told me he just got back into town and the boss was busy. So I told him I want the boss or the tech working on my laptop to call me. No phone call at all on Friday from them. Saturday now, I go into the store around 11:15am and tell them I want my laptop back and a refund. I tech goes back to talk to the boss, and the boss told him to give me another 100 buck of and they would rush it through. I said NO because nobody called me back to at lease tell what's going on with laptop. They told me to come back at the end of the day to pick up my laptop, so they could put it back together. 5:30 pm now and I'm back at the store. My laptop is still not put together, so I had to wait for them to put it back together. Finally I get it back, but they didn't even put it together right. Man I tell you that is the worst place to bring your laptop. I should have just takin it to geek squad in the first place. read more

I tried this place out based on Yelp reviews and because it is down the street from where I live. I don't know how my experience was so different from the other reviewers. Makes you wonder sometimes about fake Yelp reviews. The employees I worked with to fix my laptop keyboard were extremely unprofessional and disorganized. I live down the street from this store, so I thought I would try it out, hoping to find a reliable place walking distance from my home that I could count on should I need some type of electronics repair in the future. It took weeks and weeks of unreturned phone calls and 3 (!) in-person visits before I could even get a reliable answer on simply whether my part was in or not. Mobile Kangaroo ("MK") clearly takes its reputation and service seriously. I wrote an honest and balanced appraisal of my experience because it was not good and I thought others should know. However, once MK learned about how unhappy I was with its service, a gentleman named Jose called me to discuss my experience. Jose wanted to know in more detail what and why my experience was so awful that I'd write a review so critical of his company. After explaining all that I experienced, Jose wanted to do anything he could to "make it right". This was difficult for Jose because my laptop is now operating properly. Jose called me back and refunded my money (except for the parts they had to purchase) and extended my warranty. In the course of our discussion of my first experience at MK, Jose learned that my wife's laptop needed a new mouse button and offered to repair it for free. To return my money and extend my warranty is what I'd expect from a first-rate company but to go so far as offering to repair my wife's laptop AT NO COST is truly bending over backwards to please the customer and make amends for the past original experience. I write this update because I want to be fair to MK. They did not do a good job the first time but once learning about it, they did a great job in attending to the problem. I would go back to MK for future problems because (a) my laptop performs perfectly now due to Keri's repair work and (b) MK appears to genuinely care about customer satisfaction and I believe my experience may be an anomaly. I had my iPhone screen replaced by kangaroo twice. It went well until the screen broke very easily after being replaced. That told me this was likely due to their OWN poor installation at another kangaroo site they confessed. They replaced the screen again but then I had trouble with hearing the phone. I called in and they said there is a mesh over the earpiece on the phone. They said I should pierce this with a sharp instrument. I did so but noticed no improvement. They said bring the phone in and a I did so. The guy there asked me to call him on the phone so he could test the phone. He listened to the phone and said that it seems to be fine. This test was with us only standing 5 feet apart!! I said that it's really not a valid test to which he replied that I can bring the phone back another time. I had already traveled 40 miles to get there so this suggestion was very unhelpful. The screen broke again even though I had a shock resistant cover on it. I think the glass screens they use must be of poor quality as they break so easily. Not sure what to do now. read more

On June 22, 2012, wine accidently spilled on my closed MacBookPro 15 inch laptop, and it wouldn't turn on. It had entered the left side through the connector ports. I took it to Taz at Mobile Kangaroo in Mt. View, and he tried to clean up the mess that was on the motherboard, which is in the bottom of the laptop. He said the charge would be $50 for clean and test, but he couldn't get it to work. It was then sent to an "outside vendor" for board repair, after quoting me $350 for the job on 6/28. On 7/11 the "outside vendor" declared the board unrepairable, so Taz quoted me $450 for a new motherboard. I picked the computer up on 7/17, and noticed scratches on the case and a missing screw on the bottom. The computer worked when I started it in the store, but the battery wouldn't charge. He didn't have a new battery in stock, so I took it down to the Apple store in Los Gatos. I explained what happened, but they would not replace the battery (Apple policy) because a "third party" had worked on it. They did put a new screw in the case, however. I told Taz to order me a new battery, which he did. When new battery came in (another week delay), Taz put it in and it didn't charge either. He said he had a known good battery in the store, and that one didn't work either. On 8/12, Taz tried a "battery charge reset" program (didn't work), and then he decided to send it up to the MK store in Santa Rosa (Mac guru tech in residence) for them to install new firmware (that didn't work either). They said the new motherboard was defective, so they put in another one. The computer was returned to Mt. View store on 9/20, and everything worked (YEAH!).. But they forgot to send my charger with it. Taz loaned me one of his, and all was well. I kept calling him about my charger, and finally he had to drive up to Santa Rosa to get it (go figure). About the first week in October I finally got my charger back. Bottom line: This repair took 3 -1/2 months, but the cost was reasonable. Taz tried his best at his end to find the problem and satisfy his customer (me). This company seems dysfuntional to me, and has some serious internal problems. If I had taken it to the Apple store to begin with, I would have paid more, but I probably would have had it back in a week. Would I go to MK again?
