In short: lack of privacy and aggressive sales practices. We were in need of a wheelchair van and found one online that we liked very much... so much so, that even before reaching out only an absolute disaster could have kept us from the purchase. On the morning of our appointment their sales agent, Shelby, called to confirm but I was unable to answer. Almost immediately, Shelby then called relatives (outside of our household) and shared personal information we had provided while asking questions about my needs. Because of the individual called, this created quite a bit of chaos and an extremely uncomfortable and awkward situation for our family. I explained to Shelby that I wanted to cancel my appointment and to please delete my contact information - that I would never purchase from them due to what I considered to be predatory and aggressive sales practices... essentially trying to get information from a relative in order to have more information about my disability and needs before the sales appointment -- while informing that relative of our plans to purchase, as well. I said clearly and directly that I did not want to be contacted by Mobility Works again. That I would go without rather than purchasing anything from them again - at all. She said she would remove the numbers from her database. Despite the assurance of no further contact, a short while later, their General Manager, Jim O'Mara, called... trying to smooth things over but yet being insulting and sarcastic in the process. For example, when I stated I did not give them those numbers, he replied that they did not get them from "outer space." It's clear from another review further down the page here that this is not an isolated incident but rather business as usual from them. When I first filled out their form online, a corporate representative (Illinois number) immediately called me about trading in my 2010 vehicle - something I had not entered on the website form or mentioned in conversation. I thought nothing about it at the time - strange, but assumed they had confused me with another customer. After today's interaction, it's quite clear that they use databases from other sources. I find it extremely concerning and discouraging that a business would not only do this - but would do this with a client base that is primarily disabled. read more

This is my 3rd interaction with the Mobility Works staff, at the Alexandria VA location and as usual, the service was impeccable. This time around I had the pleasure of working with Ms Shelby Nelms, within the Sales Department. Shelby is one of the kindest, patient, attentive and positive people I've ever met, which in her line of business and with the special circumstances of the customers that she works with, is absolutely needed. Thank you Mobility Works and especially you Shelby, for helping to make my families dream come true of owning a wonderful and beautiful vehicle for particularly for my son and making the process such a smooth and speedy one at that. Beware!!! Hand controls install. It took them 1 month to uninstall and install hand controls. I know for a fact the uninstall takes 2 hrs and the install is between 4-8hrs. It took them 3 weeks to let me know it didn't fit the 2nd car and to make things worse they did it wrong. Found a new place to have it redone. They acted like they where doing me a favor like no I paid for a service and they failed to complete it. Jim Omeara is the manager there and you can tell the toxic work environment from a mile away. Stay clear from this place. When things goes wrong they bounce the blame on each other and when that doesn't work they hang up on you. I saw a couple red flags that I ignore: Never spoke to a mechanic if the job was possible. They have shock pictures actor being disable(they don't care about real people) Paying for a deposit when you already have my car. Isn't the car worth more Am out $2,166 because of their incompetence. They should told me they couldn't do it. read more

The team at Mobilityworks were fantastic: they installed hand controls quickly over the holidays and explained everything thoroughly. Horrendous Service. They take an appointment for your car and then never fix it. They' \had my son's Ford Explorer for almost 3 weeks. We called every day and leave voice mails to find out what's going on and no one calls us back. Promised they'd update us the next day, but guess what, they never call and the service manager won't answer your calls. We had to go there in person (a 45 minute drive) to get the service manager to talk to us. Original reason we brought it in was the door wouldn't close when the ramp retracted and had to be closed by hand. Dropped it off on a Thursday. They called on Monday and said the battery was dead and then couldn't get into the vehicle with the existing fob. We brought another fob there and they said they had to replace the battery. Then they said the alarm sounds when they try to unlock it and they can't fix it but maybe new mechanic starting next week could fix it. Following Tuesday and still trying to find out what's going on. Oh the new manager was doing new employee paperwork but thought he could fix it, they would call the next day. Guess what, no call. Finally had to get it towed to Ford and let them fix the unlocking issue a $350 charge. NEVER USE THIS PLACE FOR SERVICE! Will take it to DRCE in Chantilly and they will fix the door after Ford finishes with the fob issue. Had we checked with them in the first place we would have never gone through this misery. Called main number and they were very aware of issues with the Alexandria location for service. Not sure how they can continue to operate to do service. read more

Shelby and the team at MobilityWorks have been fantastic in helping me find a vehicle and hand controls that worked best for me, even though they were not the most common type. As a young adult, being able to get back to being independent and driving again has allowed me to apply for jobs and reduce the stress and cost of arranging transport everywhere. We needed to rent a wheelchair van for our visit to Washington DC and were so pleased to work with MobilityWorks. Cheryl and Jesika were easy to work with and provided A+ communication. I'm choosing to give MobilityWorks of Alexandria a poor rating because of their lack of privacy. Shelby, one of the associates has created a biased towards my mother based on what a family member has told her. Based on that, she made it difficult for my mother to rent a van, though we knew it was a last minute rental, stating that another family member had rented and cancelled. I'm not sure what that had to do with my mother, a completely different customer and a private entity. Once she was able to rent, it was brought to her attention that Shelby had called previously mentioned family member to let them know my mom rented the van. As stated on the MobilityWorks website, under the Privacy Policy: "Disclosure of Personal Information: Our dealership understands the importance of your privacy. We collect and maintain the personal information of our consumers for our use and our subsidiaries. We do not sell, rent, or trade consumer information to third parties, other than as described below, and never without your consent." My question is why did Shelby feel the need to contact the other person to inform them of a rental that had nothing to do with her? The information literally said "Shelby called me?" When I spoke to Shelby on the phone to ask what the issue was at the time or rental, she said she didn't want to "get involved." She's done the contrary and has been unprofessional, openly demonstrating a biased towards a paying customer. read more

I needed a way to transport my wheelchair-bound mother to an important family event. MobilityWorks surpassed my wildest expectations. They have vans that have been converted to accommodate wheelchairs, with built-in ramps. I didn't even know this product existed! Shelby really went the extra mile to explain and demonstrate the vehicle's features. It was much easier than I expected to attach the wheelchair to the floor of the van and it was very solid and secure. This vehicle will really open my mother's world again. read more
