My lightweight transport chair only works if someone is pushing it. I wanted to be able to at least sometimes be on my own and not dependent on the ability of my companions to provide the power to get me around. I did a deep dive online into the many lightweight power chairs that are available. The choices; carbon fibre, aluminium, steel, 28lbs, to 68lbs and beyond, footrests, accessories, warranties ranging from 90 days to 5 years; the choices were endless it seemed. And ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars, not a purchase to be made without solid understanding of what you are getting. Analysis paralysis had me in it's clutches. Months rolled past and my world got smaller and smaller while I tried to make a decision. Until my husband made the suggestion we visit a shop in Colma that specialized in mobility assistive devices. Mobility City is 10 minutes south of San Francisco with ample parking making it easy to get to. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable and not pushy in the least. Most of the larger brands I had been looking at were there, available to try. At the repeated urging to the young woman helping us I took each chair in the class we were looking at out of the shop and onto the sidewalk that runs along the front of the shops in the shopping center. There were ramps and bumps and hills and curb cuts and obstacles and various surfaces to compare. I was ASTOUNDED how quickly chairs that had all seemed about the same inside on the smooth lino floors of the shop quickly shook down into clear categories; Super light weight with rough rides on anything but smooth ground, Heavy but still portable chairs with much smoother rides and climbing power, and a middle ground where speed and power and ride and price point all come together. It made it very easy for me to eliminate the chairs that were too uncomfortable for me, and chairs that were too large and heavy to be practical for my desire to have some independence. It took a few hours to work thru the options and narrow it down (to the TravelBuggy AeroluxC2, but that's another review) and make a decision. The price was a small amount over the online direct from the manufacture cost, but I was so grateful for the availability of demo models to try, and the kind, helpful assistance I had received, I didn't mind. They have overhead after all, not just a website to maintain. And I got the chair immediately, with a relationship established with a company that had good solid business history and a complete repair maintenance shop attached for future need. When I had a small issue 3 weeks later they were on the phone and helpful in resolving it and when I had an additional (user error) issue they had me bring the chair into the shop and quickly sorted me out. I ordered the luggage bags for my chair as we will be traveling with it soon and I wanted to check it with as much protection as possible. They had them in and ready to either be picked up or shipped to home in a few days. While I was there they helped people with choosing assistive arm chairs and walkers and were as helpful and knowledgeable as they were with the chairs I was looking at. ou can tell I am impressed with this company. I am not someone who is easily impressed. These guys know their stufff and have a solid business model that respects their customers and offeres excellent service. Do not buy a chair without sitting your ass in one. And I highly recommend you do so at one of Mobility City's locations. Solid 10/10!

David called me back within a couple of hours and was able to diagnose the problem over the phone and give me instructions on what to look for. With his help I was able to get the lift working again in a few minutes, saving me the cost of a service call. This is the second time David has helped me out. I used him last year to service the same lift and he was prompt, professional, courteous and extremely knowledgeable. I've been around a long time and have used many types of service companies over the years but have never been more impressed with anyone's customer service than Home Safety Services. They get 5 stars, plus!

I didn't realize how much of a problem it was getting to be for me....stepping in and out of a tub/shower that we have in the guest bathroom. I was amazed today when I took a shower there and the grab bars were in the perfect position to help me get in and get out without a worry of slipping. I even utilized the bar to stabilize myself while toweling off. They are very sturdy and he managed to get them well-anchored into studs. I recommend Nick highly, it was a very pleasant experience from the beginning until the end, and I wouldn't hesitate to call him in the future if I need more help with safety!

They gaslit, lied to and cheated me over and over…read more They sold me the chair and said they'd help with insurance. They barely did, but the worst was when I needed my batteries for my Permobil m5 replaced. I ordered group 24 gel batteries (8 mile longer range than the standard group 34 gel batteries, also more expensive). They ordered the wrong one for my chair (I have a permobil and they must have ordered ones with posts for a quantum). When they didn't fit they were very cagey with me about what went wrong and said they needed to take my chair to the shop to fix it and kept dodging my questions about why. Then they put in a new batteries and I asked when they put it in if it was a group 24 and kept getting deflections. They tired to convince me no group 24 would fit, which I pointed out could not be true because I had group 24 in originally. Then I saw my range wasn't what it should be. I told them they must not be a group 24. First they lied and said I must be reading my ap wrong (gaslighting). Then they admitted it wasn't but said "it doesn't matter, it's basically the same". I argued with them for a while about this and they kept gaslighting me (trying to convince me they weren't wrong, I was just stupid/crazy/uninformed). Then they tried to tell me "it's ok, you can keep them, it's the same price anyways (they were cheaper batteries and I paid for the more expensive one). I said no. Finally they admitted it was a group 34 and agreed to order a new one and swap it. In the meantime I had the other one and it turned out that that "group 34" charged to 100% went down to 58% in just 1.2 miles. That showed something else must be wrong. I decided I couldn't trust them at all. I called Permobil and they gave me other dealers. I called City Wheelchair and they were able to install a new one (and show me it was a group 24 gel) fairly quickly. I called Wheelchairs of San Mateo and demanded a refund (which thankfully they did give me). The batteries that Wheelchairs of San Mateo put in there? Not even a gel group 34 at all! They were cheap lead acid batteries! And they charged me around $900 for them! They tried to get me to accept that as "the same"! I am horrified that these people are likely cheating many in the disabled community.

SO, years later I called them asking to order a TiLite for me. Antonio: "Well you know just because YOU want one they won't do a special order for you. " THEN, I told him who I was. In advance of my travels I filled out a form with all of the requested details and my reservation was confirmed the following morning. The driver arrived on time, assisted with my luggage, and got me to the airport without incident, at what I thought to be a reasonable price. The return trip was a little different due to my having to wait for luggage which never arrived however, my driver understood and parked nearby, asking me to text him as soon as to I was ready for pickup. I'm uncertain of the financial consequences for delays in being picked up from SFO but if I were using Airport Taxi Cab Services again I'd read that fine print closely to ensure I do. Unlike the taxi transport services I used in Paris, neither of the cars I rode in were new but they were perfectly fine, and right-sized for my needs.
