Seriously, fixing a dumbwaiter is not your everyday run of the mill job. I called the original installers and they had crappy reviews and their response about it being covid-19 and no one would be available for 3 weeks I found unacceptable. We moved in to a brand new house that has a Stiltz lift last year. The lift was squeaky in operation to a point I contacted my builder and yet the installer no longer serviced Stiltz lift. My mother is 100 and finally consented to get a chair lift after much resistance. Her caregivers refused to guarantee her safety because of her safety climbing stairs. After contacting 4 different companies, I finally came across David and Joan of Rollin Along. I sent the pictures of my mom's stairs to Joan, who informed me that David was busy but would get back to me. David left me a message Saturday night to call him back. I was shocked when I called him back on Sunday and he answered the phone. He informed me what he thought my best course of action was and we discussed the difference between new and used. He quoted me a price that was 2/3 less than one of the companies quoted me. The nearest estimate was approximately $1000 more than his estimate. I mentioned that my mom was staying downstairs in her house until stair climber was installed. He said he could install it on the upcoming Wednesday. David installed an exterior lift for a 98 year old friend of mine in the North Bay. Since my friend had a stroke and was unable to navigate the exterior steps, this exterior elevator made it possible for him to stay in his second story, hillside house. As a retired contractor of many years, I managed the project which involved additional construction. The lift had some problems with a door relay switch but David came out several times to trouble shoot this frustrating, intermittent problem. i was a customer of 101 mobility customer, but they went out of business, so the number i call got transfer to the Sacramento office and they want to charge me over $400 for the service call plus part. I call around and I found Rollin' Along and they charge less plus part. They came out and repair in a hour. read more

Update:1/25/2021 Our now 14 year old stairlift went out last summer. David sent his men to repair it. Then in December it went out again. David's men came back but were not able to repair it; so David came a few days later. (Since I now use it and not urgently) that was fine. A fair amount of time was spent between the two men on the first call and David coming. When David was figuring the bill, I told him i had been told I had a year warranty on the work. He went back to his office, checked his records and sent me a note saying indeed i was covered and there was no charge. Can't ask for more than that. read more

When my mother's Acorn stair lift broke- no service provider said they could handle the repair. They all said to call Acorn which is located in Orlando. The issue was in California. And- Orlando was experiencing Hurricane Dorian- so no one was there to talk to in order to find a local provider. When I called Rollin' Along, Dave asked me some questions about the lift- explaining why he could fix only those that were straight (no curves, no bends in the track). This track was straight. This firm over charges for what they sell. They hide the charges by adding to cost to the products they provide. Apparently they've decided their VERY high hourly rate ($2/minute) isn't enough. They hide extra costs by bumping up the cost of products provided along with the service. They charged my elderly relative twice what similar batteries could be purchased for from other firms. They EVEN charged over the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) from the same exact brand. Who does that? Well, Rolling Along does. A similar repair firm quoted the exact same item for 2/3rds the price Rolling Along charged, and this after the relative had used the firm loyally and frequently. The owner agreed they charge more than others, but justified it saying they give good service. $2/minute isn't enough for their service? Based on what I've seen, they're just another greedy firm taking advantage of elderly clients' dependence on their mobility, combined with cognition issues. read more

I'd give five stars except it took over a week to even get an appointment this most recent time I used them (being told repeatedly that someone would call back to set a time and then hearing nothing for days.) So this is not the best service for an emergency, it seems. I depend on my scooter and, when it acts up, it means I can't leave my home unaided. Thank heavens they do come out to the home - I don't have a vehicle into which the scooter can fit for transport. The service however, has been impeccable both times they've come out. I've been seen by both Dave and Scott and they both have excellent knowledge of how mobility devices work, what problems are likely to be experienced and what to do about them. The second, most recent, service visit turned out to be due to my batteries failing while still under warantee but Scott also went over my scooter thoroughly to make sure that there were no unexpected glitches. There was no charge for this nor for the call and, as someone who is disabled and on a fixed income, I appreciated this more than I can say! He also gave me tips for getting the most out of my scooter in the future and left me feeling comfortable that it isn't going to poop out on me next time I go to the store! So, their service gets 5 stars and I hope they get the scheduling stuff straightened out because they really deserve to be a full 5 star review. We'll see what happens next time and, if possible, I'll upgrade my review. read more
