My husband ordered a $25 plate of scallops and this is what he got served. When the manager was notified all he said was I can bring you two more but they are $22 a pound. I would have been ashamed as a restaurant owner for this to leave my kitchen. Does this look like a $25 dinner? I would not recommend this restaurant because of the fact that the owner could careless about serving food portions like this for $25. I never write reviews. We went for dinner yesterday, kinda excited, as we never have gone here before. We had a 45-minute wait, which was fine. When we got seated we ordered drinks. Literally bottled beer that takes no effort. 20 minutes later, we got our drinks and ordered food. Our server Krista returned 40 minutes later and said our order was next up. She said she thought it was the pattymelt that was taking so long. She apologised that she was having to clean up a bunch of broken plates in the back???? She asked if we wanted another beer which we said yes. 15 minutes later our food showed up but no Krista. We had no silverware so I went to bartender who brought us some. We ate and we were finished when Krista came by and we asked for our check. I said we never got our 2nd beer but forget it now and just take off the bill. When she returned with the check she had my beer....No thanks. After all that the food was marginal at best. My daughter had a grouper wrap and only ate a couple bites. read more

Love the menu here, so many good things to choose from. My family and I (7 of us) came here for birthday celebration on Easter weekend so it was busy and we had a long wait. They were pretty right on with how long the wait would be so no surprises there. We had kids with us and the area for waiting was great for them because there's a large grassy area for them to move around in. Oysters were delicious and everyone enjoyed what they ordered: crab legs, shrimp, and appetizers. I was a bit disappointed in the blackened redfish and they were out of the scallops, hence the 4 star rating. Definitely going back and try some of the many other options on their menu. read more

I cannot rave enough about this place. A friend and I showed up without reservations for dinner tonight, the wait was 90 minutes. So, we pivoted: we asked to order takeout and eat by the water. Not only did they accommodate our request, they did so cheerfully and quickly, they went out of their way to find us and bring us our food, and they didn't skip a beat with their other diners. Professional and courteous, not to mention tasty dinner at great prices and a gorgeous view of the river. Moby Dicky's is well worth the drive out of Nashville! The food is fantastic, the venue is fun, and the waterfront eating makes a great thing even better. Moby Dicky's feels like a beach side restaurant at a pier was picked up and plopped in suburban Hendersonville. It is a fun place to eat and drink, away from the tourist scene and not overpriced. Unusually fresh seafood options in a landlocked state are well worth the price, and I have yet to have a negative experience. They seem to have great quality control and training, based on the friendliness of the staff. The only negative is the lack of parking, so be prepared to get creative in the parking lot. read more

I've waited a long while to actually put my thoughts on Moby Dicky's into a review. In short, the food is amazing and with the atmosphere they easily earn 5 stars; however, there are a couple of items that need improvement. Regarding the food, I cannot say enough good things about the food. I've tried the grouper fingers, the chicken drummies (which, sadly, are no longer on the menu), the red snapper, the blazing catfish (absolutely amazing), several of the sushi rolls, peel & eat shrimp, oysters on the half shell, potato chips, crab Rangoon (the best I have ever eaten!), the wedge, pork rinds, chicken tenders, and wham bamm shrimp. Honestly, I am not sure that you can go wrong ordering *anything* on the menu. Even the things that I have not tried, I have complete faith. Regarding the items that need improvement: service and parking. The service is inconsistent at best. I realize this is something that is hard to control but various visits have been amazing with extremely quality service and others where the service has been so subpar that afterwards I wait long stretches before returning to Moby's (despite the tasty food). I realize that in high peak times with food this good that service is tough; however, it is possible to adequately staff where things run smoothly. It seems when the owner is in the building that service is better but that should not be noticeable to the average guest. Being really considerate, the parking situation is atrocious. The main parking lot is small and cramped with many parking over the curb and into the overflow lot through trees and adjacent power boxes. It is adventure in parking almost every visit. I would suggest that the employees park in an alternate location (maybe next door to the overflow lot), walk, or double up closely behind each other in the overflow lot. There clearly is so much more seating than reasonable parking that it is a major downer to think about fighting the parking battle to get such good food. Overall, Moby Dicky's is a 5 but the service and parking prevent me from giving a perfect 5-star rating. If you like good food, they won't disappoint but be prepared to jockey for a parking spot and service inconsistencies. In a perfect world, the food makes up for these demerits. read more

Spent an afternoon on Old Hickory Lake and decided to try this place out for lunch and I'm glad that we did. We sat outside because they have a covered patio with a TV, fans, and a nice view of the lake. Ordered the fried calamari appetizer and it was delicious. For my entree, I ordered the Moby Dicky grouper sandwich (char grilled). It was advertised as a customer favorite and it lived up to the hype! They have a decent selection of bottle and draft beer, as well as other drinks. The service staff were exceptional as well. No complaints and I'll definitely be back. read more

This is a neighborhood bar and seafood grill on the lake. It has great outdoor seating. All servers were wearing masks which made me more comfortable about eating inside which we did. Our food was really good. I had the grilled shrimp and my husband the fettuccine Alfred with shrimp. It was good but m y husband thought the shrimp portion was small. Flavor was very good though. It was a little on the pricey side for lunch but we were splurging anyway. We will come back. read more

My husband and I are visiting the Nashville area and the owner of our VRBO home away from home highly recommended this restaurant and we are so glad she did. We came for dinner and sat on the patio which comes with a view. Our server was friendly, informative and efficient! His recommendations were right on. We started with a new shrimp dish, Drunken Shrimp and it was DELICIOUS! We actually kept the extra sauce and used it to dip our fish in! We had the red snapper and the grouper, both were TASTY. I feel like the food has definitely gone downhill. I'm glad I came at lunch time when it wasn't super busy, as I've avoided dinner rushes here when the parking lot is packed. Service was amazing, our server was very attentive and periodically came back to ask if everything was ok and if we needed a beer refill. The major problem was the food. The crab Rangoon was always my favorite, this time I literally tasted like fried wonton wrappers filled with only cream cheese. Zero crab flavor whatsoever, the only thing that saved these was the sauce. Also purchased the lobster ravioli. It came out with 4 square ravioli with maybe a single small chunk of lobster and placed over fettuccine noodles. Tons of sauce on the dish , so no complaint there , but everything had zero flavor. I caked on the salt and pepper, but the Alfredo had less flavor than Olive Garden. For the price of the dishes I tried, I'll avoid this place for a while. read more

We will avoid going to "the chains" if at all possible when traveling, and we love to patronize local establishments as often as we can. We were in the Nashville area for a gymnastics meet and after, our daughter wanted seafood. I had already bookmarked Moby Dicky's earlier, as I wanted to NOT have to fight downtown crowds (where the gymnastics meet was), and wanted something fairly close to our hotel. Moby's won the coin toss and I'm glad we went. A great "hole in the wall" with great food and great local brew selection. Our waitress was attentive and helpful, and definitely wasn't in a hurry to turn our table. Big pluses in my book. We went with her recommendations of the lobster bisque and grilled grouper. Both were excellent. The grouper was prepared perfectly, grilled just right, with the the right amount of seasonings. Our daughter got one of their sushi rolls and was very happy with her choice. When my waiter asked me if it was ok that my tuna tacos would be seared rare/mid-rare I almost hugged him. Too many restaurants I have visited ruin a good piece of tuna by overcooking it. This place did not disappoint. The tuna was nicely seasoned with pepper and the wasabi mayo sauce was the perfect blend. The lettuce on the taco was uninspiring; your basic side salad lettuce. Man, if they shredded that lettuce and tossed it in the mayo, this place would probably be crawling with hipsters (maybe I know why it's so white bread now). Still a great taco.
