The food... so I ordered the Korean fried chicken original flavor. The chicken came encased in this hard shell of batter. However, the batter wasn't stuck to the chicken. It kinda peeled away leaving the actual chicken skin uncrisp underneath. Wasn't very seasoned or flavorful. The coleslaw and fries were both very good tho! The donuts!!! Amazing!! I was hoping the texture of mochi would be a hit as a donut and it definitely was!! Donut was so delicious. I ordered the glaze one day and came back the next day to get the strawberry cheesecake and some food. I might go get another this weekend. They're that good. Y'ALL, drop what you're doing and head over to Mochinut in Metairie! I swear this is the best little afternoon pick me up/post shopping-errands/after dinner spot! There was such a diverse crowd on my visit and I am happy to see everyone loving Mochinut as much as I did! Despite the long lines, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They maintained their composure under stressful times and everyone's drinks/food came out in a timely manner. MOCHI DONUT: If you've never had a mochi donut before, then now is the time to do so!!! (You might not even want a regular donut again haha!) It's not too crispy on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. The mochi donut shape is similar to a baby's teething toy, and is easy to break apart and share. I thoroughly enjoyed all the flavors but coconut pandan was my most fave. Variety is the spice of life - Mochinut changes donut flavors Thursdays & Sundays. You'll never be disappointed because of the weekly flavor SURPRISES! MOCHIBALL: I can't even describe how good these were! It's an elevated cream puff - definitely next level with the crispy exterior and light cream fillings. Cafe au lait & ube coconut were my faves. Korean corn dogs: Grab a sheet at the door to customize your corn dog order (my current faves: cheddar jalapeño with ramen & half mozz -half hot dog with potato). Yes, it takes time to get them out the kitchen but please be patient. I promise you they are well worth the wait and you will be spoiled silly from all the fried/hot/crunchy/deliciousness/goodness of this coveted corn dog. (You can forget about those old days of Sonic corn dogs). They even have a small selection of boba tea drinks in a cool looking transparent soda can. I didn't get a chance to try them yet but look forward to it on my next visit. The colorful storefront is open and inviting. The dining area can fill up pretty quickly on a busy night, but people did not seem to mind having to eat outside with limited seating. There is also a wall of Gachapon machines (coin operated toy/trinket vending machines- originating from Japan), which have the cutest little items (keychains/bracelets/etc). Visited this place twice so far and both times we just had the doughnuts. Although, the corndogs do look good. We usually just sit there and eat because the place has ample seating and is pretty clean. They offer bubble tea and all other forms of drinks ( lemonade. Coffee, tea, etc) . Even the box the doughnuts come in is adorable. We love going with the kids because of the toy dispensers they have across the side of the facility. While there are many, I didn't notice about 4 of them didn't work. The tokens to use these machines cost $2 for 1 token. The games range between 1 token to 4 tokens a play. So be prepared to have cash on you. I usually convert big notes but the cashier for smaller notes for the machine. I think that's that they have more of my cash in those machines than on their food .... Lol. The doughnuts itself is very flavorful and light. They have different flavors every time I have been. A few that I've tried were a cherry flavored one, churro flavor, cookies and cream , blueberry and strawberry. Do give it a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Hello there Mochinut! Conveniently located close to lakeside mall and everything else, this is on my list to drop by when in NOLA! The store is welcoming and super clean, puts you in a great mood for donuts as soon as you step inside! We got a dozen this time around and my favorite flavor was the Ube! I had to try this place after seeing it on my socials. I am in New Orleans for vacation so I drove over to the Metairie location. The inside is light, bright, and welcoming. They have a wall of vending machines (direct form Japan) with all sorts of cute toys and keychains. Price ran $6-$8 for each. They sell mochi donuts, Korean corn dogs, chicken, ice cream, and boba and specialty drinks. I bought 3 donuts (blueberry, glazed, and M'nM crunch), the Korean corn dog combo box (which included 2 corn dogs and fries) and the Brown Sugar Boba. You build your own corn dog by choosing the inside (mozzarella cheese, hot dog, half and half, or jalapeño cheddar), choosing the outside (lots of options), and if you want a dusting on it. I got the half and half with French fries exterior and a cheese only with the original panko exterior and the blue Taki's dust. The donuts were excellent - the blueberry was surprisingly fruity. I love the chewiness of the mochi and the size of the donut as a whole - very easy to eat. The glazed and crunch M'nM donuts were really good too. I wish I lived closer to one so I could try all the different varieties. The Korean corn dogs were really good as well. I've never had blue Taki's - they gave it a savory taste that was unexpected. The boba drinks are served in the cutest bear shaped container with a screw-on lid. The taste of the Brown Sugar Boba was as expected and very good. This place is great I brought my fiancé around Valentine's Day and they had some cute Mochinuts. The vibe of this place is cute and colorful was missing a little bit more sound to make it more vibey, but very open and big. The service was amazing and it was quick and very helpful. And finally what we all come for which is the Korean Dogs and the Mochi donuts. They were all delicious it's a perfect mixture of being a donut and mochi. I've been to a few different places in NYC and I felt like some were jus the shape and others had too much mochi mix so we're really chewy. Really good donuts that are super chewy! I love how the flavors are constantly switched out so that we can always try new flavors. We got this on Fourth of July weekend so the flavors were themed around the holiday. We got the flavors chip ahoy, petit four, raspberry funnel, glazed, and cherry bomb. My personal favorite is the raspberry funnel and the glazed! Those aren't too sweet which is a plus. I didn't care that much for the chip ahoy donut because the icing was a bit too sweet and it stuck to the top of my mouth as it was also very thick. But overall all of the donuts were had a great texture of being super chewy! I would say this is a great place to pick up a bite to bring to any party! I approve!! I read somewhere that they were opening on on the Westbank and everyone was commenting that they were happy so I did not to be out of the loop for any longer. I headed over and was happy I did. I ordered a Panko half corndog/half cheese on a stick and it was really good. Reminded me of my favorite Hot Dog on a Stick. I also got a donut which was nice. I might have enjoyed it more if it were warm. When I was there, the donuts were all Girl Scout Cookie flavors. And I got a strawberry lemonade which comes in a clear can but I think they make it because there was a lemon in it. The place is clean and spacious with seating. There were some others there and everyone seemed happy. They have a few different flavors for the corn dogs and some other novelty things that should be fun to try. I'm so happy to see NOLA getting more Asian sweets/dessert spots and am very excited we have a mochinut here now! Prior to this I was getting my mochi donut fix at sweet handkraft and was so sad when I found out they were shutting down for a while to relocate. Mochinut came to the rescue!! The donuts are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft/chewy on the inside, and I love the variety of flavors offered--would love to see a Vietnamese coffee one though! I also like that they have a variety of savory treats as well, with the corn/hot dogs. Mochinut is just okay. The hotdogs are only okay if you get half-and-half the plain is just too dry to eat. The biggest problem with the half-and-half is that you only get cheese at one point and then hotdog but never both at the same time. There isn't an option to have it mixed. So you do get half cheese and half hot dog but it would be significantly better together. The donuts are interesting. When you bite in it has a light airy taste then comes the mochi which is somewhat chewy. It's just okay flavor wise though. At three dollars per donut it is just not worth it. There are better options. I will say that it's worth a try but I definitely will not go out of my way to have it. Pricing wise this is pretty pricey for what you get. We got five hot dogs, six donuts, three Boba drinks and one bottled drink and it was $70. If it tasted better then it would be worth it. read more

I was so excited when I saw a mochi donut and Korean style hot dog shop had opened up near by! So I was super excited go try it. They are still working on setting the whole store up, so it feels a bit barren at the moment, which is no big deal. I got the ramen hot dog and the ube milk tea. The ube milk tea was honestly really dissapointing, as it just tasted like coconut and not ube. The bottle had something on the outside that left black marks on my hand like motor oil. It was a bit off putting to be handed a sticky bottle. The ramen hot dog was delicious though, and I love that they have so many sauces to chose from! The thing that probably bugged me the most was a bunch of the owner's/employee's (I'm really now sure) came in and caused the employees to ignore the actual customers. My friend had one of her hot dogs sitting on the food window for over ten minutes because of it. She had ordered two hot dogs and they seemed distracted by said friends and forget one and they just let the ready one sit on the counter. That was really frustrating. I went on their 2nd soft opening (Thanksgiving Day). The place looked really trendy and spacious, and the mochi donuts were really good! A problem that I had was that they only had limited flavors available at the time, as just 6 out of the advertised 8 flavors on the menu were made that day. The staff also rushed us a bit, and even forgot about our order until we reminded them about it. It kinda felt like they really didn't care about their customers for a second.
