People won't believe this, but if I'm in Metairie near the Causeway area, sometimes I crave a hot Joe's Cafe doughnut. It has to be hot, fresh out of that grease, though! The omelet is cool in the sense that it allows for customization. I add all kinds of meat to my omelet for under the $15-$18 dollar limit. It's pretty solid tasting overall. The staff is nice and pretty straightforward and to the point. read more

When I worked uptown, my boss would bring in doughnuts from a little bakery on the Westbank called Joe's. They were so amazing! Little did I know that there was a Joe's under my nose in the old McKenzie / Tastee Donuts location at Causeway and W Esplanade. What a discovery!!! Anyway, I noticed that they sold kingcake, and in a pinch, I picked one up for my kids. Holy macaroni!!! Their kingcake is AMAZING!!! I've been a R-dazzo's lover since I was a kid, but Joe's slipped into the top spot for me that day, and I've never looked back!!! read more

What an amazing experience! The hot glazed donut had a little crisp to it. It was so fresh and delicious. We also had the glazed beignets, which was light and fluffy. The chicken and waffles were amazing. The waffles were light and crispy and the chicken fingers were crispy. We also had the pancake breakfast, breakfast quesadilla, and mini burger combo. They were good. The service was excellent. I wish we found this place at the beginning of the trip. The local mom and pop restaurants surely beat the big restaurants in hospitality and service! read more

Lack of Consistency!!! Some days I grab a bite and it's great. Other times the food is subpar, like today. I ordered donuts and 2 breakfast sandwiches to go and neither were right. The sandwiches took long and of the two, my husband's bagel was disgusting . Instead of a regular bagel he received a wheat one, which wasn't the order and he said the steak was awful. I tried to call the store to let them know, but there's only an automated recording and we couldn't leave a message... so therefore we're leaving this review. And not just because of today, but for all the days when we have received disappointment instead of a good meal. read more

I was disappointed that this location didn't have a drive up window like the locations that I frequent on the westbank. HOWEVER, I walked into a welcoming location that immediately provided coffee with no questions. I was afraid of falling asleep on the road and the large coffee at 9:30pm hit the spot at the right time. I didn't spend much time there but the location was clean. Joe's has become my go to for King Cake and donuts. I've yet try anything else but the menu seems to have you covered for any meal. The staff has always been attentive and friendly when I go, half a dozen times in about three weeks, I bring their King Cakes to out of town customers and they love them. It's a donut shop so don't expect five star dining, but for what it is, it's worth it read more

I think this might be my favorite king cake now. If you like Joe's Donuts you will love this King Cake. They have two kinds, regular and the one like Joe's Donuts (my favorite). They stuff them while you wait. We got the Bavarian Crème. So good. They ship also. I will be shipping a couple this year. Excellent. read more

If the owner's name is king, then he must be Joe King. Tiny little coffee shop punching above its weight that is known mainly for the coffee and donuts, but they also serve gumbo and chicken fried steak and other delights. So they're doing great, and this kind of local place is a heartbeat of the community of Metairie and of what makes New Orleans great. read more

I usually love Joe's Cafe on Terry Parkway, Gretna. I order with Uber and it's normally a club on white toast. I have to call and tell them no tomatoes because it's not an option on Uber Eats. I ordered, called about the tomatoes. I got a club heavily buttered texas toast and tomatoes. After I scraping the tomatoes off, I tried to eat it. My tongue is still coated with butter. Great experience!! The staff is super friendly, and makes amazing recommendations. Randy is the best!! My eating companions were super happy about their Monster burger and Waffle Burger, and I loved my cheesesteak loaded hash browns. The price is right and the food is great - it's a little small so if you have a party bigger than 2 your only choice is the bar. The staff was cleaning behind us and under us and It was a little disconcerting to hear ewws and gags while they were cleaning the bathroom but it was entertaining! Overall this is a super cute and friendly local diner and is perfect for quick breakfast or hungover brunch. read more

Cook/Server who gave me my glazed beignets was really nice. The glazed beignets were great too...made fresh to order. I suggest eating them right away for best taste. The glazed donuts are good too, I didn't get to eat those fresh so I probably robbed myself of its maximum quality. Nice local donut spot. read more

Stopped into Joe's for a king cake while out in Metry and I thought it was just ok. It wasn't as moist as I would like even with cream cheese filling. The cream cheese itself was a little loose and heavy. Its a good king cake but not one I would get again. read more

I ordered a donut king cake on Monday morning. I had a chat with the lady on the phone. I told her I bought my first king cake at Dorignac's and everyone loved it so I told her I was ordering another one for my husband's birthday. I picked it up yesterday morning put a candle in it last night. Cut it and it was a traditional king cake, not the fried donut King cake. I was so upset. I called and spoke to a guy who told me basically there was nothing he could do. At least he could have offered some donuts or put me down for the right king cake next year. Really really upset. Gave the whole thing to my neighbors. Also, the guy on the phone said no returns on the box but the only thing on my box was cream cheese. I would love to do business with them in the future because their donuts look delicious but I can't see doing it. BTW the king cake cost $36 with a tip. read more

Had the waffle and large tea. Tea is smokin hot and waffle is good, but could be a smidge crispier for my taste. Would have had the giant apple fritter, but afraid it would leave me in a coma. After being excited about my first visit here I was quickly disappointed we placed our order after waiting for 45 minutes our food still had not arrived I asked the waitress to check on our order well she never gave the cook our ticket.I offered to pay for the drinks and we left still hungry.There was others customers that waited over a hour for their food.I would never return to this establishment!!!! read more

First of all WOW. The french donut was the best donut i've ever had. They are made to order, and she told me she remade them for me so they would be perfect. They were. Meet the Business Owner: James A.

Welcome to Our Family's Table. James knew at the age of 14 that he had a knack for working restaurants, specifically in the art of donut making. After giving up his first job as a paperboy, James applied for a position with Ms. Helen and Ms. Marilyn, two former nuns who owned a local New Orleans Westbank area donut franchise. James aspired to be a donut cutter, he took the position of donut fryer. With absolutely no "official" training, he paid close attention to the donut cutter and quickly mastered the craft. Those hand-cut tasty morsels (glazed donuts) are today's number "1" best seller for all our present Joe's locations. In 1988 he and his wife Stacey bought their first donut location. James and Stacey, along with their four sons, continued to grow the company to multiple locations founded on the values of hard work, persistence, quality ingredients, great service and value for the customer.

Im pretty sure its actually purple food coloring and not actual ube, the only reason why I'm not placing a 1 star is because the first time I bought a cake from this place, it was actually good (some coffee cake). This bakery made decent cakes till I tried YOUR UBE CAKE. If you want to copy trends and mix asian culture into your goods, then DO IT PROPERLY, or at least research on how to make ube. Try making ube jam instead and place it in the cake, that would taste WAY better. Also the yellow icy part inside the cake would've been delightful if it was cheese and not some random yellow piss ice. Ube is commonly topped with cheese, this bakery really missed the opportunity to actually be culturally on point. So much for Ube getting mainstream if none of these businesses get it right anyway. They always mess up asian cuisines and culture by making their "own version". Dont disrespect our ube broski (I can feel/taste the ube on the paste but it just isnt enough, it needs more) (update, i take it back. Tried it in the morning where it wasn't as cold. It was actually soft and spongy, the ube taste was stronger and it was quite delectable. Keep up the good work, i see room for improvement though)

I picked: a large fluffy maple roll. The outside reminded me of a croissant in the best way with some mild maple sweetness and the inside was moist, pillowy, and rich. I heated it up in the oven next day which made it even better. A square coconut roll... crisp and flaky on the outside with the most delightful sweet coconut cream inside and flaked almonds on top. This was my favorite. Will get multiple next time. And a pair of taro rolls. These I was most excited for as I love taro, and they weren't bad at all, but were probably my least favorite of the 3, purely because they had an eggy aftertaste. They weren't overly sweet with a nice smooth taro filling. I also tried a taro milk tea with soy milk. These normally include lavender too, but I asked for mine without. The flavor was off the charts good. Strangely it was nothing like the usual taro drinks I've tried and I couldn't place what I was tasting, but it was rich and creamy and so satisfying. Only thing that bummed me out was that I ordered boba and there wasn't any. :(

The customer service was good, the staff were friendly. This would be a nice stop after shopper if you just want to sit down for a brief to enjoy coffee and a snack. The oolong Milky tea was what I chose, it was not what I thought it was, it was just a regular tea. The New Ice coffee was okay, not really a special flair to it. The are several other options that I would try next time I visit.

The New Orleans Iced Coffee with Chicory. Chicory is a root, that is very popular to get in coffee in New Orleans. First, I love the tiny ice cubes used in this coffee. Why doesn't every single coffee shop offer the tiny ice cubes? They keep your drink cold, while they don't take a ton of volume away from your coffee! I love the chicory flavor of this coffee! It's naturally nutty and a tiny bit chocolatey without any syrups. This area at Whole Foods has some yellow bar stools for seating options. If I was in the area I would keep an eye out for French Truck Coffee.
