I had seen an old menu from past Yelp reviews and thought that they offered veggie dogs & GF buns but on the updated menu it did not seem that these were options anymore. At first glance Moco has a laid back, trendy vibe that is reminiscent of equal parts grandma's basement and a hip urban bar. The decor is fun and the seating allows for larger groups to hang out and have a drink. The bar is split to accommodate a game section that includes standard bar games. They have a full bar and several beers on tap. I visited Moco when they had just opened so they didn't have any cocktail lists -- but hopefully they will have some fun, quality drinks to order. They also had several beers on tap and bottles. If you aren't on a diet, take a gander at the menu. Sloppy joes, walking nachos and their "speciality" hotdogs are available. I love a good hotdog, unfortunately the dogs here need some work, primarily the buns which fell apart the second I picked it up. I know they will only improve as they catch their stride. I like to be fair when a restaurant or bar just opens to be kind to the staff and owners as they work out the kinks. I offered to take a good friend out for lunch and let them pick wherever they wanted to go. They picked MoCo Hotdog Bar. It would be my first time so I wasn't sure what to expect. The location is convenient as it is close to both First Avenue and the Interstate. The decorum is casual, but attractive and very well thought out. It has a very upbeat vibe and I can see people of all types and interests feeling at home here. Menu has an abundance of hot dog options (I honestly didn't know there were that many ways to eat a dog) and a conservative amount of non hot dog selections. The wait staff was very funny as they told us jokes and danced around and talked with us; however, they did not come to our table enough to help us, as they seem to be too busy mingling with others than doing their job. We went to Moco Game Room this weekend and had a pretty average experience. The bar's atmosphere was a mix between a sports bar and local pub. It was relaxed and a nice place to meet friends. The beers they had were pretty normal for what you expect at a Cedar Rapids bar: domestics, a couple imports, and a local brewery or two. The fun part about Moco is they have some creative hot dog choices that really make it a must try. I had the "Hey-O!" dog which was really good. It was a normal hot dog with kimchi, pickeled onions, and garlic aioli. Honestly it was a great little place to hangout and try some new fun hotdogs! This would be a 4 or 5 star pub, but the reason why I gave it 3 stars was the quality of service. The waitress was a bit rude and she forgot one of our orders. read more

Atmosphere is amazing! Seems so much bigger than any of the bars it was before. Great beer selection and they do great mixed drinks. I would come here for the ambiance and drinks, but not the food. I'm not a huge fan of hotdogs, but tried the Carolina. It was good, but nothing special that would make me come back. Hotdog and a small bag of chips for $7-$9 - not a deal. My husband and I came here this afternoon for the first time ever & left thinking we will be back. A few reasons I took a star away - 1. The service wasn't spectacular for a nearly empty bar. The server was very focused on the folks at the bar and not necessarily the folks eating at tables. 2. The food was pretty good. You can order any of the hot dogs as sloppy joes, which was neat. Generic hot dogs. Nothing special about the buns or dogs. Here's a suggestion - MAKE your own buns. Have a local butcher make a special dog for you. Foundry, Nelson's, hy vee... someone. There's nothing exciting about what is offered here. Also-- toast your buns. Don't call yourself a hotdog bar when you can't even separate yourself from a fast food hot dog. The first time I was there, a Harley rider pulled up to the front door, and revs his bike, while his drunk moll held the door open, so as to share the obnoxious serenade with patrons. My wife and I decided to go into Moco after hearing about it from a coworker. We were impressed. It has a dive bar feel with the service you expect from a high end establishment. The bartender Matt went way above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. After ordering at the bar, we took a seat at a table away from the bar. My wife's beer was almost empty and Matt came out, from behind a very busy bar mind you, and asked her if she'd like a refill. He was also extremely personable and we enjoyed our time. Other things that the bar is known for is what I'm going to call the game wall. There is just a massive wall of games of all nature, which add to the pool table, shuffle board and Foosball. There also dart boards in the back of the bar area. We did not try the food as we were coming off a big dinner, but everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked great. However, recently got belittled by the owner as to why we don't tip enough when we visit and going so far as to asking us about our own personal jobs and money. The owners own 3 bars in the area and should pay their bartenders a decent wage if their pay is an issue. We are young and don't have a lot of extra money to spend and we tipped 15-30%. I love giving positive comments to businesses that really impress me. just paid $24 for 3 chili cheese hotdogs w/ coleslaw. Before I gave the kind bartnender my card, I asked her why 3 hotdogs cost 24 bucks. She told me, "they're all beef.... even the casing..." she said with excitement, "and they're kosher!" So I'm thinking to myself that I'm about to devour the world's best hotdog! Mind you, I eat the same style hot dog, with the same fixings, often when I go through Chicago and down South where I live! I was so blown away that I ate 2 bites and then gave the other 2 1/2 hot dogs to my dog so she could feel the excitement. If it was up to her, y'all would get 5 stars. I was hoping to find a place to grab a bite next time I'm in town waiting for my truck to get loaded. Love's truck stop, I'm sad to say, has a better tasting all beef hotdog for 1/10th of the cost. I am sure you have many happy customers who are accustomed to the taste of your hotdogs, and that they will continue to patronage your business for years to come. But I ain't one and I will let truckers know on the trucker app to not waste nearly 2 hours of their wages and instead spend 3 bucks for all beef and better tasting dogs at the truckstops. I decided to visit Moco because I have always been a fan of the Irish District, as well as the last two businesses that resided in this location. The remodeled layout of the bar is easily my favorite layout, and the overall decor is very stylish. Plenty of space to spread out. I really enjoyed the number of activities available and the thought the suspended games on the wall was a nice touch. The high quality shuffle board will definitely bring me back again. Even though it is a hot dog bar, you are able to get most (if not all) items with a vegetarian dog instead. The food taste and portion size was above average, the Cedar Rapids Dog was very fun and tasted good. The menu was a good size, as well as it was very stylish and well designed. The waiter was very nice and speedy. The two down sides of the place were the number of cigarette butts in front and there were only a half dozen parking spots that were well lit.
