My husband and I finally decided to try this place which is right next to our local Panera. I don't think we had expectations because we knew nothing about it. Upon entering we realized it is the same concept as Pie Five, which is make your own pizza. Both of us decided to make our own pizza, but there were plenty of already-created menu options to choose as well. Service was quick and cheerful. Restaurant had an airplane hanger type feeling, but it wasn't a bad thing. The salad I added to my pizza was HUGE (might opt for the smaller version next time but my husband and I split it so it was fine). Total came to $30 for the two of us, so not bad! I walk in and find out that this is one of those build your own pizza type of places. This concept has become popular with pizza, recently went to Olive Theory and I have heard of another place called Pie 5. Anyways I picked my toppings and the pizza was ready in less then 10 minutes. Iv'e been here twice and both times left very satisfied. The servers are very friendly and they take their time to talk you through the ordering. You can order a pizza with set toppings off the menu or you can build your own. Everything is put together before your eyes from the rolled out raw dough to the very last ingredient you add on top. They have a great variety of topping selections, although I'd be nice if they offered some turkey sausage or turkey meatball as well. The drink selection is nice as well. They have some house brewed flavored ice teas. The atmosphere is nice. Spacious and clean. Ok, so the search for great places to eat is endless! When you find a place you really like you tend to go back and frequently! So the boy has this Midwest mindset with food. He hit this place up one day not far from his work after being given some lunch monies from a client and he couldn't say enough about it! So, we decide to venture out to the one near us for dinner one weekend! This one is hard for me to describe to you! So, for your viewing pleasure, I took pics! I don't do this very often. I should do it more since I do it for my friends when I cook up a storm at home! Ok, let's see if I can remember what I had them put on my Mini MOD Pizza... I started with ricotta cheese as my "sauce." I know, I'm weird! I had them throw on some mozzarella, parmesan, and asiago cheeses. Then I had them top it with Italian sausage, mushrooms, artichokes, and roasted garlic - oh yeah! When it comes out of the oven they ask you if you want it topped and they had this balsamic fig glaze, um yes please! I also made up a Mini Salad with mixed greens, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, spinach, garbanzo beans, and Caesar dressing. The little salad comes out to be bigger than you think once they throw everything on! In either dish you can add whatever you want! I got the mini of both so I didn't have too much food, but I ended up with a ton it seemed like! The boy got a MOD with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, onions, red peppers, and topped it with the balsamic fig glaze! We shared this vanilla shake with sea salt toffee. Everything was really, really good. The shake was a little on the meh, just ok side. The crust for the pizza was great how it crisps up, doesn't get soggy, and lets the toppings take over the flavor of the pie! For the price of a pie here, where you can build it the way you like, we will be back for sure! I would recommend this place to anyone! Anyway, as these fast casual places are popping up all over now, I was curious as to how this place was. Had already been to Blaze, so how does this compare? As others have pointed out, this is a "Chipotle Style" of ordering. I must point out that I am not a Chipotle fan since I have so many authentic Taquerias surrounding me. Back to the pizza. I ordered a thin crust with mushrooms and red peppers and asked to have arugula placed on it after cooking. They put on such a miniscule amount of sauce on the pie that I had to ask for more and it still was not enough. I passed on any of the meat items because I did not like how they looked. The pizza was underwhelming at best. Sauce had zero flavor, cheese was not cooked very well, the crust was ok. It is just not really for me. I know that there is a niche for these places just like there is for Little Caesars and Dominos but I don't fit in that demographic. I want the real stuff. I really like this place. It's quirky, it's unique. It's affordable.I like it so much so, that the first week they were open I am pretty sure we went 3 times. You pick your crust (baby, regular or double crust) and then your toppings. You can add whatever toppings you want and it's still the same price. As a family where we have two picky eaters and two garbage disposals, this is a great option. And, less expensive than ordering from somewhere else. The staff is friendly as well. There are a few growing pains that I am sure will be taken care of...for example, when they are slammed, it tends to be chaotic with people yelling out what they want and the people on the line being able to hear, but that is to be expected. I love that MOD truly cares about giving back to their employees and their community. You can feel the whole "family" thing going on here for sure - more than enough reason to want to come back! Ethan in particular is HILARIOUS. Chatting with him had me cracking up non-stop. I wish I had gotten the name of the guy working at the cashier's station - he was so accommodating and so friendly! If you want pizza done your way with fresh ingredients then this is the place to go. When you first walk in they have a menu with certain specialty pizzas, but then you can either make your own or add extra toppings to a the ones you get. In a way this is much like the subway sandwich of pizza places. The reason I'm giving this place four stars is because for what it does it does pretty well. The ingredients they have are all fresh, the employees were friendly and helpful, the prices are reasonable, and the pizzas were all pretty good. They were not exceptional, but they were better than other quick pizza places. Soooo many choices, such as having chopped garlic to add at two points in the creation line. The spinach and arugula are very fresh looking. This is my second time at a Mod pizza. Different location. This time around was so much better than the first. Pizza was not burnt this time. I had a salad this time because of the diet I am on. If you have on a diet and have a bit of self-control you can build a healthy salad that still tastes good. They have a vegan cheese if you go for that. You can stack toppings on your pizza. We decided to try Mod Pizza this week after hearing some good things about their food. The staff was friendly upon entering the restaurant, and they made the ordering process fairly easy. We were able to get 2 very different pizzas which is obviously the main draw of this place. We paid for our food after the cashier said "2 Mod Pizzas huh?" Once our food was ready, we were chastised by the same cook/cashier for not telling him one was a Mega. Apparently it's our job as customers to tell him what he was cooking. This left a cloud over the experience as we left the restaurant. The food was pretty decent. Tasty ingredients, but the crust could use some work. Unfortunately, both of us became sick a few hours after eating our food. Thinking back, not a single employee wore gloves when handling our food. The staff really knows what they serve and have been super friendly each time I have visited. So going back about three years ago they were out of Mega crusts so the employee who had obviously been around a loonngg time suggested the original Mega, two mod crusts with the sauce in between the two and on top of the top crust.
