Very nice location! It was very clean and everything was well run. I like how they have different sizes here unlike Blaze or Pieology. I still got the regular Mod size and let me tell you... they do not go easy on the toppings. Whenever I go to Pieology they ask way do a little sprinkle of everything but they go hard at Mod which I LOVE. As for the taste... the crust in my opinion is the most important part and this one was lacking a little something like Blaze has or Pieology. It was still a pretty dang good pizza though. read more

I will preface my review by saying that I am torn between giving MOD Pizza 3 or 4 stars. On the positive side, I like the idea of customizing my own pizza. I have some food sensitivities and many traditional pizza toppings (like red sauce, pepperoni) are things I need to avoid. So being able to control what goes on my pizza is a definite plus, and MOD has lots of choices. I also love that they offer salads and desserts, and their lemonades and teas are great. The crust.....well, I don't know that I'd call it a standard pizza crust. It has the weight, feel, and taste of naan. I suppose if you're going to offer a fast-fired pizza, that's probably the way to go...and it's not a bad thing, I like naan. But I do think it's important to know that if you're going to order several veggie toppings on your pizza, you should probably request the thick crust (yes, they offer one) because naan just doesn't stand up to all of that weight and moisture. Employees were nice, dining room needed some cleaning work but wasn't awful. Another thing that I think is important to note about this location is that this shopping center is a real pain in the ass to get into and to find a parking spot. It is exceedingly busy at most times of the day. This is not MOD's fault by any means.....but if you hate crowds, really full parking lots, and lots of traffic--you've been warned. All in all, I'll go back. $11 for a customized lunch, not a bad deal! read more

This is my favorite MOD. By far!! And I've been to quite a few traveling back and forth to the Bay Area! This MOD came in strong and never disappoints. Their customer service reminds me of the 'good ole days' when customers were treated like guests and not an inconvenience to them having to be there to collect their pay check. These young people REALLY care, they engage in conversation- offer suggestions, and come check in with you at least once when you are at the table! My favorite kid that works there - I like to call him "Wall Street"... he goes above and beyond to make your pizza experience the best. I happen to come back exactly one week after my last visit(what can I say.. Friday night is pizza night) and he remembered my pizza! My husband and I came in and were blown away by the service. I have food allergies and its frustrating and sad that when I go to other places they make me feel like a burden. Not here. I was told by my nephew that MOD Pizza was way better than our favorite pizza place, Frank's Pizza in Grass Valley, California. Since I refer to Frank's as "The World's Greatest Pizza," I had to try MOD Pizza! So, last Monday, my husband and I drove almost an hour to the MOD Pizza in Chico, California. Well.........we were very disappointed! We wanted to compare "apples to apples" with Frank's Pizza, so we ordered a type of combination, as well as a chicken, garlic, bacon tomato one, with white sauce. My husband said that it was one of the worst crusts that he'd ever had and the rest of the Pizza was, "just okay" and that we will never be back! The only reason I'm being generous in giving them 3 stars, was because we had our pizza in about 5 minutes. If you are looking for vegan options, they have them, But the cross contamination is absolutely absurd. There was vegan cheese next to all the other cheeses, mozzarella in the sauce and one of every condiment in each of the bins. I asked to have a fresh sauce used and they said they were only able to get a fresh bottle of other spreads. If you are gluten free, vegan, or allergic to anything DO NOT COME HERE!! And the final straw and reason I walked out is because when the worker turned around you could see that he had a bad itch on his backside due to the residue from his gloves when he was scratching. Fun and locally themed decor with an incredibly nice and very hard working staff. The two pizzas had plenty of toppings and the salad we ordered had more ingredients than there was lettuce. With all the casual dining instant oven baked pizza places opening up in the area it's hard to remember which is better or who has what, but I very much appreciated the employees here as to how friendly they were to my 14 month old daughter and that is currently going to set MOD apart from Blast, Blaze, Trademark or Pieology. This place is awesome! They charge one price (per size) and all the toppings you want at no extra charge. There is a wall of different pizzas you can order or build your own. They cook it in an open fire oven which takes about 5-7 minutes and you're ready to go. Nice thin crust and not burnt like Blast 825. They also serve beer and milk shakes along with soda and tea. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. My only criticism if you could call it that is they need to get one of those soda machines that has 160 different combos like Burger King and Noodles have. A group of yelpers came for a soft grand opening on 6/8/16 and we had just a great time! The restaurant and patio were beautiful, clean and inviting! The employees were friendly and knowledgeable. The pizza choices are fantastic and the drinks are tasty! The concept is pick your pizza size, crust or no crust, pick your toppings, pick your drinks! I wanted to try a gluten free crust, red sauce, chicken, ham, tomatoes, pineapple, & olives. Simple but it was my choice. Fun! So it takes just a few minutes to cook in their big wood fire oven and they call your name to get it. The drink selection is tasty! I mixed lemonade with the caramelized pear ice tea and it was perfect. We sat down with friends and could only finish 2 slices but yay for leftovers! The crust was tasty not hard or cardboardy. The ingredients had good flavor together and I was very happy with my choices. I highly recommend this restaurant. We WERE regulars at MOD in Rocklin and it has slowly gone downhill over the last few months. Today was our last visit. We waited 50 minutes today to get our 4 pizzas. When we got home, no drizzles on the pizzas that were supposed to have them. Salad was wilted and brown, completely inedible and we had to toss it. I am sadly MODifying my review after my family and I visited a second time on a Sunday evening. Summary: The pizza still tasted good, but the whole experience, sadly left a bad taste in my mouth. The employees were not as welcoming, and when I asked for basil, the girl looked around then said "we put it on after we cook it". Ok, that wasn't the case last time, but that's fine. Then I bought a can of San Pellegrino for $2.77 (which is a lot for a can of soda) and asked for a glass for ice and the cashier (who I also believe was the shift manager) said the cup was $1.97! I said I didn't want a fountain drink, I just want a glass for my $2.77 San Pellegrino. She was adamant about charging me for the cup with a little bit of an "attitude". All I could think was WOW, this was not how they did it last time. Needless to say, I wasn't about to spend almost five dollars for a can of soda. Then the pizza came out without basil; I kindly reminded the guy I asked for basil and, unapologetically, he said they ran out. Then when we left I waved bye, and they saw me, but no response like "thanks for coming in"... Nothing. :( Inconsistency in service or food will kill a restaurant. I hope they figure this out quickly. This was a 180 degree difference from our first experience... kind of like like the A Team vs the B Team. The A Team got us excited to come back, and just like that, the B Team permanently lost us as customers. Below is my original 5 star review. Nice people, great for kids, super fast, rustic modern atmosphere, good price, fresh ingredients, awesome pizza! Our family went there a couple weeks ago and were thoroughly impressed. We had the wonderful opportunity of coming here during a Yelp Elite Event recently, and boy were we happy! This place is one of many of the new "Chipotle style Pizza Places" - such as Blast, Blaze, Pieology, just to name a few. We have been to Blaze quite a bit and we were SO excited to be able to try out Mod. First of all, Mod does provide 3 sizes plus pizza salads which is a plus. In addition to the regular 11 inch at approximately $8, they also have a smaller size and a family size. The smaller size I want to say is like a 6 inch pizza, and the family, is still an 11 inch but it's double decker type pizza - crust, sauce, cheese, crust, sauce, cheese and toppings. Good to have some variety :) I will say I LOVED their crust - I loaded my pizza up with all sorts of random goodies and it held up very well during the baking process. The pizza never folded while eating, it was extremely tasty and I will say the crust was very delicious. This differs from Blaze in that they recommend you only a certain number of toppings, though you can essentially have as many as you want, but the crust is soft and it's hard to eat the pizza by hand - so that's why I give MOD even more props :) The specialty lemonades and teas are amazing too. I had the pear tea - I can't remember the exact title, but it's SO delicious - it's one of the 2 specialty teas - I'd go back just for this! Always a 10/10 experience! The best quick fired pizza in the area. Fresh ingredients, dough is actually cooked through. The house made lemonade is worth the trip alone. Friendly service. Priced a bit higher than similar restaurants but for good reason. I am never disappointed. Inside is clean and there is plenty of seating even on a busy Friday or Saturday night. The employees were very nice and asked us multiple times if we would like to add any extras reminding us there is no charge.They have some combos they have made up that you can choose from or make your own. I like that they have a larger family size and breadsticks which their competitors don't. They have salad options and it is very large. I got the BBQ chicken pizza and it was very flavorful- I wish my crust was a tad bit crispier though. The pricing is very decent. They also have some dessert options. The only thing is it was absolutely freezing in the dining room- I mean really really cold to where my kids wanted to go outside before they were done eating. Terrible experience. Ordered online and went in store to pick up. I wasn't acknowledged for over 15 minutes and there was only one other customer waiting (also not being waited on). When I was finally acknowledged, my pizza was cold. The toppings were sparse. 2 rings of onion and 8 small pieces of sausage. I'm not sure if there was any sauce on the pizza or not. Definitely didn't have the garlic I ordered. The other customer got her pizza and was offered condiments. I was not offered any at all. I have been to the Rocklin location several times and it's always the same. I won't be back. The Auburn location is much better. read more
