I had such a bad experience at Moda Boutique, and honestly it was entirely because of one employee -- the girl with the brown ponytail. From the moment I walked in, her attitude was off. She came across super rude, dismissive, and just straight up disrespectful. Instead of being helpful, she acted annoyed that customers were even there. The whole time, she gave off a strong "mean girl" vibe -- like she was judging everything and everyone. Any question I asked felt like it was inconveniencing her, and her tone was cold and unfriendly. It made the entire shopping experience uncomfortable and awkward. I've never felt so unwelcome in a store before. It's really disappointing because one person's attitude completely ruined what could have been a nice visit. If that's the kind of customer service they allow, I definitely won't be coming back. read more

My friend and I just left Moda. She wanted to try dress on, got in the dressing room and realized she had a feminine issue and needed to get to the bathroom. I asked to store associate if she could use the bathroom. She said go next door to Frothy Monkey. I explained her dire situation and she said no we don't even have a bathroom in the building. I said where do you go to the bathroom?? She replied next door. I'm not buyin that line. Just be honest and say we have a bathroom, I don't care that her clothes are messed up and she needs a bathroom. I would respect you more. I absolutely love this boutique on 12 South as they have a cool collection of clothing, accessories, jewelry and GREAT greeting cards that will make you laugh out loud. The manager is as sweet and helpful as can be and goes out of her way to find you just what you're looking for. My only complaint and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is they don't have clothing for my size. I am a 12/14/16 and yeah, I'm lucky if I can find anything to fit me, which sucks, to be honest as I LOVE their mix of east and west coast styles. Your size Large does not fit me . So, owners, I'm begging you, please get some clothes for us bigger ladies! You're missing out on a large demographic! In fact, there was a group of girls in there this past Sunday and two of them were very disappointed as they couldn't fit into your clothing...but I digress. I was tying up a shopping trip in the 12 South 'hood when, as I was driving home, saw the new "Moda Boutique" sign and decided to drop by. I think my credit card tried to grow legs and run away right when I walked in, because it knew it was in trouble! It is a great store! Very cozy yet not overcrowded, and the shop owner is super nice and helpful. I tried on several things, but much to my Visa's surprise, and I'm sure relief, I only bought one top. But that was mainly because I was trying to be monetarily responsible for once in my life! I would say this is a moderately to high priced boutique--great dresses, jeans, tops, etc. Casual to dressy casual, it will be one of the stops on my 12 South Shopping Tour for sure! MODA was the first store I went to after moving to Nashville. It's in the trendy 12 South neighborhood, with walkable shopping and restaurants. Now I've been in Nashville a while, it's still almost the only place I shop for clothes, jewelry, and exquisite leather handbags and purse pouches. Firstly, I love the owner, Meredith, because she is awesome and really knows style and how to put an outfit together( check out MODA instagram). But what also stands out to me is that you can buy something with an LA, NYC, or London vibe right along with specialty brand jeans, a popular "Nash" ballcap, local handmade jewelry and Italian bags. Super sweet and helpful and she definitely holds high standards for the clothes she sells. When I walked in, she was on business call trying to correct and shipment order that had come in. The clothes had threading flaws and one piece had a stain. She called up the designer and requested to have replacement items sent. You can rest assured that what you purchase her is in impeccable shape and worth the price you pay. The service here is great, so come for that if nothing more. I am not often found in this type of stylish boutique. As a fairly low-maintenance semi-slob, I harbor a secret fear that entering such a place will lead to a re-enactment of that scene from Pretty Woman and some fancy sales lady will scorn me. I'd hate to have to do that sad and dejected fashion walk of shame. Given all of that, it was refreshing to visit Moda and have such a pleasant experience. This is a lovely little boutique in 12 South with plenty of droolworthy high-fashion items that could easily make even the likes of me look presentable. In addition to the women's clothing, they have some great accessories and a small section of baby clothes and shoes. The boutique fashions definitely come with a boutique price tag, but there are sale racks to scope out and this is actually the first place I've ever been where the service mellowed my sticker shock enough to make me want to spend my money there. The sales lady was super attentive without being off-putting, and helped us find the right size just by looking at us. She even mended a loose button right on the spot! The dressing room has a large lounge area with comfy seating, just adding to the feeling that you can take your time and there is no rush to buy and get out the door. Housed in an old bungalow, Moda is spacious and has lots of fun items, has a great sale area and a nice selection of jewelry. There's even a small selection of locally made baby clothes. Staff and owner were incredibly rude and unhelpful. I wouldn't go here again. Staff stated that everything black was 25% off, including the $600 leather MODA jacket I wanted to purchase. When we went to the counter to buy and presented a major flaw in the inner lining, it all of a sudden was 20% off and the owner became defensive. She offered options and I really wanted to get the jacket but her incredibly bad attitude and rudeness made me not buy it in the end. I am born and raised in NY and love fashion and on deciding whether or not to move to Nashville, was skeptical I'd find any good places to shop. That is, until I visited MODA and fell in love! The shop is so cute and reminds me of the boutiques in SoHo with lots of cute options for dresses that I loved! They also had a decent sale rack with quite a few items I poured over at a decent, affordable price. The prices ranged from decent to a little pricey, but all within reason. We got to chatting with the owner, who was so awesome and friendly! She also took the time to talk to us about NY and offered us some suggestions on where to go and where to eat in Nashville when we told her it was our first time. She even offered to have us email her if we decide to move to Nashville for advice. This is a sweet little shop right next door to the Frothy Monkey. What struck me about this place was just how clean it was. I'm not saying all the other boutiques in the area are filthy or anything of that nature, but everything has it's place in Moda. It has clean lines. It's more Banana Republic with it's clothes nestled into cozy wall displays, and the white walls. It's certainly different than all the other boutiques in town, where the products are practically hemorrhaging merchandise into the street. But at the same time this is a draw back, because there isn't as much to choose from. It looks to me like sex appeal comes first and fashion second here, which is kind of funny since the word "moda" means fashion. The dresses, shirts, and skirts here are very flirty, with lots of buches, wavy hems, form-fitting designs, and plunging necklines. Most of the clothes at Moda are dressy-casual, with some more formal items thrown in. I'm pretty sure they only have women's clothes. The staff here is exceptionally friendly, and the store feels very open and not at all overwhelming, while there's still plenty of styles to choose from. Moda is moderately expensive, with $40-$50 tops and dresses around $100. They have a lot of beautiful garments that would appeal to college-age as well as more mature women who like to look good but aren't necessarily trying to make an edgy fashion statement. Most of the clothes at Moda are both visually pleasing and comfortable, which in my opinion is a big plus. Moda also has bags, baby clothes, and jewelry, and they carry some really neat and unusual-looking tees by a designer called M Line. read more
