I had a terrible experience at this dentist. It was my first time at this office with my boyfriend, and we were both charged an unreasonable $200 to speak with the doctor. That didn't include x-rays or cleaning. After getting my X-ray and cleaning, I ended up paying over $500, while my boyfriend paid $200 to 'talk' to the doctor after they said they didn't have time for him that day, despite having already booked the appointment months in advance. We filed a grievance against this dentist through our dental insurance. I had originally posted a long and detailed review specifying the various incidents we experienced as patients. It detailed my honest account of my experience and highlighted unethical and unprofessional behavior that I believe was conducted by this office, including errors with billing. Three months after my review, I received a call from Susan in Dr. Chow's office, followed by an email from her stating that I have 48 hours to call them or I would be contacted by their attorneys. She never explained why she needed to speak with me in these communications. When my wife (who is a lawyer) spoke to her, she confirmed her communications were regarding my Yelp review. I must highlight that we first tried to reach out to Dr. Chow's office to try and resolve what we experienced civilly before filing a grievance 6 months ago, but they were unresponsive. My wife and I never heard from them at all during or after the grievance investigation conducted by our dental insurance, nor after I posted the review. I think their sudden explosive conduct says it all. Therefore, I have to be careful with what I say here because they have threatened litigation. My wife and I had a very negative experience at this dental office for over a year. In my opinion, you should be wary of any recommended treatments or procedures. I also strongly recommend you check you're being billed correctly and go through with a fine-tooth comb everything submitted by the office to your insurance after each visit. I would also like to highlight that while there is a pretty high number of 5-star reviews that are "not currently recommended" because yelp filters out reviews that could be flagged as fakes, there is also a review from Kaylee S. that alleges "fraud." There is also a review from Bill S. in the recommended section that also states unprofessional behavior. I encourage you to read those reviews too. My wife spent an hour on the phone with the office going through the original yelp review after they threatened us. Many of their desired edits were because I believed they engaged in unethical behavior and highlighted the lack of professionalism. While I decided to take it down to avoid the hassle of litigation, it is quite telling that a dental office would come after a former patient and allege defamation (which ultimately impacts that patient's first amendment right to free speech and promotes a chilling effect by trying to suppress speech) without first learning more about why the review was posted. In our view, if a dentist can't handle a critical review professionally and attempt to civilly engage then that says all you need to know about their ethics and business practice. I am not one to give reviews often, but I felt it was my duty to share how wonderful Dr. Albert Chow and staff (Susan, Angelina, Ran & Sara) are. I had an unfortunate experience at a different dentist about a month prior to seeing Dr. Chow and I basically came to him in tears. He was so incredibly kind and the bedside manners they ALL have made my experience not only tolerable (considering the pain that often comes with dental procedures), but  a pleasant one! Dr. Chow is so gentle - I told him he is a needle magician! I didn't feel any pain, he was thorough at explaining everything that was happening during the procedure and took more time to explain everything again post procedure. He and the staff genuinely care about the comfort and well-being of their patients and it is so incredibly appreciated. Angelina and Susan took the best care of me in the front office, and Ran and Sara took great care of me while they were assisting Dr. Chow during the procedure. This is the best experience I have ever had at a dental office and I've already told my friends and family about them. Make no mistake - go to Dr. Chow for ALL your dental needs! So grateful Dr Chow was able to fix a different dentists mistakes. I was in so much pain and he not only made me comfortable but took care of what had been giving my mouth, face and head pain for almost two years. I will never try to save money on something as important as my teeth again and will follow his lead. The office staff helped give me a discount and made sure I was comfortable. Dr. Chow has been my dentist for 6 years now, and I am very thankful for him and his staff. Every visit I'm greeted by the lovely ladies up front, I never have to wait more than 10 min to be seen. Dr. Chow and his staff's number one goal is to make sure you are comfortable. Normally, I have an issue with keeping my mouth open during a cleaning. As soon as I felt uncomfortable Dr. Chow and his assistant applied ice to the outside of my jaw and the discomfort went away. The staff is very friendly. read more

Dr Chow is a new dentist for me and I am so relived to have found him. I was referred to him by my acupuncturist Dr Christina Pabers. I have been suffering with chronic sinus infections for years so Dr Pabers recommended Dr Chow because he looks at dental care from a whole body perspective. In addition, I have always had a fear of the dentist. Even simple cleanings cause extreme anxiety for me. I was so relieved to find that Dr Chow provides various alternatives when extensive dental corrections are needed for those with anxiety. Today I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled, the first step of a cap and 2 fillings all under the specialized care of Dr Chow and his excellent staff. The worst! I miss Dr.Howard. Chow not only did my crowns so poorly that now i have to pay for them to be redone. Chow causes you pain when doing dentistry work that is unacceptable. I changed dentists and asked for my records after spending a small fortune. Dr. Chow refused to send the records even after 4 requests. He only sent one set of xrays. I loved going to the dentist because of Dr Chow's office. I was a patient for approximately 3-4 years. I was always greeted at the office as if they were next door neighbors and they knew you, even though my visits were every 3 or 6 months. I was given the same few hygenists, so they knew me and I knew them. They were very detailed and thorough, gentle and knowledgeable. Dr Chow is very friendly and knowledgeable as well. When I was a patient, he used to go to continuing education courses to learn new techniques and stay abreast with latest research, and he was passionate about his job. The office has the latest tools; I was a patient at the same office before Dr Chow began his practice there, and he had brought in updated equipment, computers, etc. He brought in Invisalign, which I got through his office. I referred coworkers who went there with their kids, and they all liked him too. The leather chairs are also very comfortable and there are TVs on the ceiling, you can change the channel :o). Overall, the staff was the best - knowledgable, thorough, gentle, into teaching you how to better care for your teeth and gums. I always left with extra toothbrushes and travel size toothpaste and floss. I now have extras at home of travel size teethcare that I havent had to replenish for some time. They treat you like they are your neighbors/friends, rather than a number or nameless patient. read more

I was recommended into this clinic by a co-worker and since I've been treated here I have done the same. Very professional team overall. Checking previous reviews I've noticed these are more focused overall in the fact that dental treatment is and always has been pricey, just as any other health service. I felt Dr Chow always came clean about what treatment was required for me and was not trying to beat around the bush so I took his opinion seriously and have not regretted it ever since. I would give a minus star if I could!! Unless someone's goal of care is just a beautiful smile, I wouldn't recommend Dr. Chow for preventive and standard dental care. I had a partial crown and a filling after removing amalgam from  two molars. He did partial crown on a tooth that had a crack already and I lost the tooth after a year of ordeal of pain with chewing. I just endured the pain thinking that would go away and didn't do my homework until one day I woke up in an excruciating pain in the jaw. I've learned that root canal and full crown should have saved the tooth for a while longer. During multiple follow up visits, he failed to inform me of possible risks including infection in the cracked tooth with persistent tooth pain. He didn't seem to have any better insight than me other than just hoping...The other one with filling was so sensitive that I had never never been be able to use it almost for two years and finally I am about have a full crown for that tooth in a week. Moreover, they made it very difficult to get my records. When I asked my x ray emailed to go to an endodontist, they refused it because of HIPPA even though they were doing it all the time before. All of a sudden Dr. Chow got to review it and they would release my x ray only to their referring specialists which is supposely illegal. Otherwise, they were going to charge me $60.00. read more

Dr. Chow has been my dentist for years. I wouldn't go to anyone else. He is extremely thorough and professional and makes going to the dentist not all that bad! His office is quite nice and his staff is super friendly and accommodating. His dental hygienists do a great job as well. I was referred to Dr Chow by a mutual business associate. At the start of the call I would have been more than willing to spend the $900 it costs to have the treatment. However the young woman answering the telephone could not have been more obnoxious and unwilling to answer my questions. When I voiced my displeasure at her behavior she laughed and said "is that so" and "good luck with doing anything about it". Unfortunately I will inform my referral that I am not prepared to do business with a someone whose staff finds it highly amusing and funny that a potential customer feels disrespected. A major effort like this is going to cost, and it did, but the real question is what are you spending money on. Quality or bargain basement junk? In Dr Chow's case you can be sure that the work is top quality and the overall result will be excellent.
