Brought my senior dog in for her first visit and a Senior review. My dog who normally shakes and is anxious at a vet, was put at ease by the pro staff. It also helped being placed in our own private clean, modern room - including clean fabric mats so my girl's paws didn't slip and she could relax. We then met Dr. Megan Nowell who is wonderful! She interacted great with my dog, listened to all my concerns, then clearly explained potential next steps. All proposed charges are fully explained and transparent. No pressure for anything. Since my dog is a runner/escape artist, I loved that the front entry door stays locked/secure - not many Vet offices give security any thought - but Modern Animal has thought it thru. A+++++! The first thing I want to say is that all of my complaints are about the policies set by the CORPORATION and not by the local office. The office manager and the vet are both very professional and willing to help. You want your animals test results? Be prepared to PAY even more money for them. Down load the app and it asks for money for access! When I FIRST downloaded the app I was asked to PURCHASE a MEMEBERSHIP that was suppose to give me a free visit or some kind of nonsence. Refuse and you still cannot get them through the app unless you are willing to have it store your credit card number on file! Why the F do they need to have a credit card number on file just to get the test results you have already paid for. What to call them. Be prepared to wait and wait and wait and wait on hold because you cannot get to the people in the office! You go to a call center. No number to call the office directly. My fur kids have been with modern animal since 2023, and I love how easy it is to access their records and invoices as well as book appointments online. The Long Beach office is one of their newer locations and we've been by twice since they opened. It's located in plaza that's shared with other businesses like Healthy Spot (talk about convenience!), so there's plenty of parking around. The facility itself is decorated in the same way as their other offices; I actually found this one to be in better (cleaner) condition than my home branch of downtown LA. We saw Dr. Sumpter both times - she and the vet tech here are all so caring, compassionate, and gentle. One of my visits, my dog had an upset stomach and didn't want to walk so I carried him the whole time. When he went and came back with the technicians, they took care to carry him too so that he would feel safe and comforted despite his stomachache. Each time we left, my dogs were feeling much more like themselves within hours of our visit. I'm so grateful to have this Modern Animal branch nearby! They have a special yearly program where you can pay annual membership and all the vets visits are charge free depending what membership you chose and other more perks. This was Goldie first visit here! Easy parking and can definitely get errands done! Modern is located in a great spot! Front door a little challenging to find but found! Entering the lobby was super welcoming. Goldie got weighted right away and into a room. There was no sink in the owner and patient room, for the owners and staff to wash their hands before examining the animals. If I could give 10 stars I would. First time going to this vet. I was taking a chance but I have a new rescue Frenchie Bulldog female mix and I wanted a place that opens early and on weekends. Zero wait time in the lobby. We went straight into a clean exam room. My pup was calm. When Dr. Welton walked in she had zero problems getting on the floor to make my pup feel more comfortable. We spoke about spraying her and doing blood work and urine test. She was very informative of what will be getting today and what will be getting done in the future and how to prepare for her spaying. Skylar who is an assistant, IS HEAVEN SENT! They answered any and all questions I had. Went over each item needed and the cost. They really helped me feel extra calm once the initial exam was over. And this is why this place has a loyal patient, as we're wrapping things up my pup GOES INTO HEAT! The team shifted and we went into a new plan. The team kept me calm and offered me water and coffee bc I was STRESSED! I also asked if there would be a way for me to be taught how to grind my pups nails down and as silly as the question is they said "absolutely we can help show you how". I took my dog in to get a recommended Lepto shot. When I got home my dog was yelping. I was so scared. I took her back and the nurse stated we can run diagnostic test on your dog for a price. I told her that you are the reason my dog can't walk and is screaming. She said the only thing they can do is run some test to find out what happened. I'm in tears right now because my dog leg is hurting right now she doesn't want to walk. The vet comes in and said that I can leave her there for monitoring. I said I don't trust them to leave my dog with them. He said I can stay there and they can monitor while I stay for a few hours. Monitoring is just checking vitals. I'm so stressed and sad right now and this company is all about the bottom line and making money. They don't care that they messed up and won't fix the problem- all they care about it money. It's a money pit. A scam. This isn't the first time I had a problem. The first time my dog got vaccinated for the flu shot she developed a bump that was full of bacteria. I'm at my wits end. Please pray for my fur baby. I hope she will make it- I'm terrified. Of course they are stating that this isn't their fault and won't rectify the problem. I'm sure that I won't get my membership back. By the way they will sale you in every test to get money out of you. Be warned. If I could give them 0 stars I would. read more

Saw Dr. Nowell, took my senior kitty in for an annual exam. Dr. Nowell, was knowledgeable, patient, and thorough. Her recommendations were helpful and made this visit super easy. They offered Churu, although my cat who normally loves them, wouldn't eat it. The office was really clean and organized. I love that they allowed for my cat to roam around and did things when she felt comfortable. It went smoothly. The assistant and tech were amazing getting labs. They offered to do it in the room so I could be present or take her in the back. I was more than impressed with how quickly and calmly they were able to do everything. Super happy I bought the All Access membership. I also love that everything is in the app right away. I was able to submit a claim to my insurance company in the parking lot.
