Pouncey now living the good life
    Angela L.

Really can't say enough about the care I received at Stitches Veterinary Surgery with Dr. Campbell and the rest of his team. I had just moved to Long Beach, within two weeks of my ragdoll cat Pouncey's diagnosis of a large kidney tumor that needed to be removed. Truly fortunate that Stitches opened up just earlier this year and is right down the street from me, a beautiful modern surgical clinic and OR suite in one. From the moment Liz took my intake information down to the initial surgery consult, I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Campbell understood my anxiety regarding the urgency of the situation and basically held my hand through the entire process, with frequent phone calls and detailed visit notes. He scheduled Pouncey for surgery the very next week. Prices were fair including itemized invoices with which I had no issues getting reimbursed by my insurance. The nephrectomy surgery itself couldn't have gone any better - Dr. Campbell called me immediately afterwards to give me an update. Pouncey healed up quickly without any complications, and his surgical scar improved to the point you can't even see the incision. The best news about all of this was that the tumor pathology turned out to be benign. Thank you to all of the team at Stitches for making Pouncey and my experience so amazing and low stress, and for allowing him to live many more healthy years to come.

I would drive from anywhere in California to bring my pets to see Dr. Campbell and the amazing staff at Stitches. They truly performed the impossible for my 15 year old chihuahua at a fraction of the cost that a local Los Angeles vet would have cost us. We were devastated to learn that our Quentin doggie had a spleen tumor that was probably bleeding intermittently.... We were told by his vet to either have a splenectomy or put him down to avoid a fatal internal bleed. Dr. Campbell removed his spleen and overgrown parathyroid tissue. Everything from the pictures of the surgery to the incision sites was a work of art- he truly performed human quality medical procedures on our dear doggo. Liz and Missy took care of me all day while I was an absolute WRECK. Together with Dr. Campbell, they have the highest standards for thorough and timely communication. You can tell that each staff member cares about every patient like it is their own pet. Not only did he save Quentin's life, but the transformation in his quality of life has been truly unbelievable. He has reverse aged by 5-8 years!!! He walks with the strength and endurance that he did when he was around 8. Before the surgery he couldn't stand or walk for more than about two minutes. Yesterday, he alternated between walking and standing to sniff for over 25 minutes straight without sitting down once!!! In the house, he used to just lay in his bed with his head down. Now he is curious, active, awake, holding his head hp high, looking around, and interacting with us. To all of the Stitches staff members, you have truly given me the best gift of my lifetime. I think about you every day as I treasure every walk, snuggle, nap, and treat with Quentin.

If I can give 6 stars I definitely would. My whole experience from the consultation to the recovery process was so wonderful. I brought my pup Caramelo to this clinic for his tumor removal surgery & a huge thanks to Dr. Campbell & his awesome team my Caramelo is happy & healthy again. When I went to the consultation I went in so nervous not knowing what to expect & Dr. Campbell gave me a peace of mind knowing everything was going to go well. They truly care so much about your pets/baby's & it truly shows. I feel eternally grateful for Dr. Campbell & the whole staff at Stitches!

Amazing experience here at stitches! My dog, a two year old cane corse was recently diagnosed with bilateral elbow dysplasia. As any concerned dog mom I called so many clinics looking for pricing and orthopedic specialist, even drove my dog to Mexico and had a terrible experience at a well know clinic Vet Playas. When back I came across stitches and gave them a call the receptionist was extremely friendly and immediately gave me rough estimates on pricing for surgery. I made an appt for the following day 8 am for a CT scan. Dr. Courtney and his team are incredible. My Corso is not so friendly, they did everything to make him feel comfortable. They took him in did his CT Scan and by the following day had a diagnosis and plan for treatment. We went ahead did the surgery and we have proceeded with therapy shock wave and PRP therapy to ensure he lives his best pain free life. I am incredible grateful for this whole team from the nurses who greet Jack from the moment we walk in to the friendly receptionist. Dr. Courtney is very knowledgeable and truly has a passion for what he does. Me and my fiancé are both grateful for the care and patience shown to our big bog who is recovering amazingly no longer in pain or limping. Thank you all at Stitches!

I took my tripod dog there for an exam because we suspected a torn ligament. Dr. Campbell is extremely knowledgeable and professional. My husband had a ton of questions about the procedure and recovery process. Dr. Campbell was thorough in his explanation and helped prepare us for what to expect after surgery.

    How much is boas surgery?

Hello. We would need to do a thorough exam prior to giving any treatment plan, but BOAS surgery normally is around $6000 for the soft palate shortening and nares opening.

Do you have an orthopedic surgeon that is well versed in soft palate surgery/nares?

Hello Criss. Yes, Dr. Campbell has performed many BOAS surgeries. We would love to help if you would like to make an appointment. You can give us a call at 562-579-4899 or use this link to book an appointment online.… Read more

They ran urine and blood tests as well as x-rays. Her urine and blood results came out normal so she may have just had an infection that went away. However, they noticed a metal bottle cap in her stomach! Ocean often eats random things off the ground but she wouldn't have eaten a bottle cap unless it was in some food! Regardless, they tried a method and thought she would be able to pass it in the next couple of days. Well, a whole week passed and it didn't. So, we took her back and they needed to surgically remove it. The procedure seemed to go smoothly. We picked her up at the end of the day and she was still out of it, but relieved to come home and was able to drink and eat. We gave her medications as prescribed. The incision was about 9 inches across Ocean's belly. We did our best to keep it covered, but she did scratch it a bit. At her follow up appointment, they removed the sutures and provided antibiotics and a solution to keep it clean. At her third follow up, they provided antibiotics and ointment for the redness, but she healed pretty well in a matter of weeks. They said going through the esophagus would have damaged it, so this was the best approach to getting the bottle cap out. As a souvenir, they gave us the cap in a ziplock bag and we could see that it was starting to rust. They were great about calling and checking up on her and they did an excellent job stitching her back up. They gave us an estimate range of the cost prior to the procedure and luckily, it was on the lower end, but still a dent in our wallets. Ocean was a champ through this healing process despite not knowing what had even happened to her! Thanks again to the team here for helping Ocean out!

Our regular vet initially gave antibiotics and medication, and he said if it happens again, we should take her to the hospital for more test as he was thinking there was something in her bladder like stones. When the symptoms returned a week later, we knew we had to take her to the hospital. Since our usual clinic doesn't offer urgent care, we searched and found this hospital on Google. They were able to see us the same day. The front desk staff was very kind and welcoming, and even though the place is currently remodeling, everything still felt organized and efficient. They performed an X-ray, blood test and urinalysis, found a bladder stone, and clearly explained the situation and treatment options. Because the stone was too large to pass naturally, surgery was recommended. They walked us through the procedure, provided a clear estimate, and scheduled surgery for the very next day. The entire visit took about 3 hours, and we felt our dog was in very good hands the whole time. She is now on the road to recovery, and we're so grateful for the care she received. We also appreciate that this hospital is closer to home -- we've definitely found our new vet. Thank you to the whole team for taking such good care of our girl.

Thank you for reaching out and listening to our concerns. I would like to sincerely thanks Ambassador and their sister location, All American Animal for showing compassion during our recent visit on 02/24/2026. We are long-time patients of this clinic and have always trusted the team with our dogs' care, which is why we continue to come here whenever our pets are not feeling well. We brought Kino in because he was experiencing excessive itchiness, redness, vomiting, and was clearly in discomfort. Despite the office being very busy, we truly appreciated the time that Dr. Meina took to see him and make sure he received the treatment he needed. From the moment we were brought in, he listened attentively as I explained Kino's symptoms and concerns. It meant so much to feel heard and understood, especially when your pet is clearly not feeling well and in distress. Dr. Meina took the time to thoroughly assess Kino's condition and explain the available treatment options, ensuring we felt comfortable and informed with the plan of care. His patience, professionalism, and compassion helped make an already stressful situation much easier for both us and our dog. I would also like to thank Marisol, the manager, who reached out after we addressed our concerns and helped refer us to their sister clinic's urgent care so that Kino could receive the care he needed as soon as possible. Despite some initial misunderstanding, the office took the time to listen to our concerns and worked with us to find a way to assist in getting Kino the care he needed. That level of communication and willingness to help truly made a difference. Veterinarians and their teams play such an important role in relieving pain, managing illness, and ensuring our pets are comfortable and safe. We love this clinic and appreciate the dedication the staff shows to their patients and families. Thank you again to Dr. Meina and Marisol for taking the time to listen, support us, and make sure Kino received the care he needed.

I was told we'd receive the results within a few days, but I never got a call and had to repeatedly follow up myself. When I finally spoke with the doctor nearly a month later, he seemed to think we had already discussed the results. I had to remind him that we had only talked about the initial findings and that the entire reason I paid for the additional review was because he recommended it. I also requested my cat's medical records and was told they would be emailed to me, but they never were. The staff were always friendly and professional, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. My concern was never the friendliness of the team, but the lack of communication and follow-through. Had the findings been more serious, the delay in follow-up could have had much greater consequences. At the end of the day, I'd rather have prompt communication than have to repeatedly chase down results while worried about my pet's health. Time for a new vet.
