My cat is so picky and petty that it seems she starved herself to the point that she was throwing up and hurting her own stomach for days. I took her to Vetco initially and they gave me some medicine to help with the stomach. But after three days, no change and still refusing to eat. Then I found this place. They have their own small parking lot but luckily I had no wait time when I came in. The office is also pretty darn pink and sadly I didn't take any pics of that since I thought I was going to lose my cat at the time. The mood to do so just wasn't there. Prices are also what you can expect from a vet but shouldn't be a problem if you have pet insurance. I was able to use my Care Credit card here too. I should've gone to Dr. Colwill initially being that Vetco didn't even have any imaging tools to get a deeper look at what's going on inside! In this visit the man really looked like he's seen better days... But luckily that didn't affect how he did his job. He gave me more of the same medicine I was given and also a magical ointment that increases the cat's appetite. You rub that inside the cat's ear and suddenly they get mega hungry! That's why I call it magic! This practice also puts a lot of care and attention to detail in what they give out after the visit: pink cloth-bag, folder with discharge instructions, a pink USB thumb drive with the medical records, imaging, etc. Even the business card is fancy metal. Other vets I've been to don't go all out like that with their hand-outs. If they go all out with that I'm confident that the same care and attention is going to be put into the vet visit themselves. And I could say that my perception holds true so far. It's been months since I've been to this vet and I'm happy to say that my Tubby cat is all better and eating like normal. I'm definitely coming again for my pet's future needs. They are open late which is really convenient making it so I don't have to call off work to have my pets taken care of.

I had such a great experience at Long Beach Animal Urgent Care tonight. My fur baby jumped off the couch and landed wrong on his arm, he was limping and crying in pain, and I was terrified he might've broken something. I found this clinic on Yelp and was so relieved to see they were open later in the evening. From the moment we walked in, I noticed how clean and well-maintained the place was! it even smelled clean, which is rare for a vet's office! We were seen pretty quickly, and every staff member we interacted with was amazing. The receptionist (I didn't catch her name) was so kind and welcoming. she genuinely seemed happy to be there on a Tuesday night, which made a stressful moment feel a lot lighter. The vet tech, Amber, was so gentle while checking my baby's vitals, and Dr. Colwin was absolutely wonderful. He came in with such a calm presence and handled everything with care and professionalism. You can tell he's incredibly knowledgeable and truly cares about animals. I also appreciated that they weren't pushy about treatment options but just suggested what they thought was best. I think we will be making this his home vet. Thank you team for your help !

From the very start we knew it wouldn't be a good prognosis as we rushed my baby boy to an urgent care where they couldn't see him and referred us here, as we arrived they were quick to help me and assisted me putting my baby boy Rocky in a gurney, the doctor ran tests quickly and gave us the prognosis, he was attentive to our feelings very compassionate and I could tell it hurt him Giving us the bad news, we were never rushed one bit they allowed us to take all the time we needed and were so compassionate. I even received a sympathy card in the mail signed by Dr. Colwill and the team, something they didn't have to do but was so nice of them to do so, like I said they all showed so much sympathy and they have my gratitude for helping me and my family in such a difficult time.

setting aside the fact that even with drivetime, i was back home within an hour of leaving, dr. colwill is my new favorite person on the planet. he might be the only reason my little guy has even a sliver of hope of surviving the terrible diagnosis dr. colwill gave (clearly delivering it with sadness and regret) - and not only did he deliver the news in the kindest way possible, but he left me armed with tools i wouldn't have otherwise known i needed. i will never take my pets to any other animal emergency clinic in this city.

If anyone is looking for an urgent care long beach animal urgent care is wonderful Olive Martini was treated with such care. This was our second visit. The staff is wonderful over the phone and in person. The vet is compassionate and thorough, answers all questions and makes you feel heard. So glad to have found them in the neighborhood!

I brought my dog for a wellness check after she swallowed bits of her toy. The staff was friendly, and the pricing was fair. My dog had her shot; I saw some small bleeding but thought nothing of it and took her home without incident. However, my dog had complications 1 1/2 days later, developing an active inflammation, bruising and infection on her injection site. I relayed my concerns about where they had administered the shot, but unfortunately, they had no answer on the site of administration and advised me to return for another exam with additional fees because they considered it a different issue. I understood their perspective, but my dog had an adverse reaction and I wanted it examined on their behalf. However, they wanted additional money for an exam, so I took her to another vet for an emergency procedure

Had the best experience last night with the Dr. and techs at LB Animal Urgent Care. After waiting nearly 2.5 hours at another facility and not being seen or even evaluated (my pup swallowed a whole duck foot) I began to worry about the foot shifting and possibly perforating his gut. I called Long Beach and they were able to take us in. We were seen immediately and evaluated timely. Dr. Cowill put my mind at ease and was super easy to talk with. He gave me 3 options for treatment and I never felt rushed or pressured. I feel that my pup was in great hands. After completing the treatment, my pup came bounding back into the room happy as can be. From the desk check in, through the visit, treatment and check out, Long Beach Animal Urgent Care was great to work with. The techs are kind and friendly and the front desk operator was awesome and explained the paperwork very well. Hoping that we won't have any emergencies any time soon, but if we do, we'll definitely return. Thank you all for taking care of my Gator baby.

I was referred to this hospital from another veterinarian that was fully booked. My mother and I found an ill kitten. We bathed her and removed as many fleas as we could, she walked minimally throughout the day unable to eat or drink she rapidly became lethargic. This place takes *walk-in,* as of now. So without hesitancy I came rushing in in hopes Lunes could make it as she went into cardiac arrest right before I arrived into the parking lot. The staff worked rapidly and took her in distress immediately performing CPR and intubation upon request. High stress will result in impulse decisions. Dr. Colwill and the vet tech listened to us and showed empathy despite us trying to save Lunes from life or death. We declined further resuscitation as he educated us on her critical condition, the odds were against her. Lunes did not make it, but Dr. Colwill and his staff did provide humane care. We were able to recover her body, and provide Lunes with a dignified burial. I will definitely choose this location for urgent care needs. I thought the price was reasonable for the urgent/emergency care that was provided. The price for initial exam $99 CPR (for a certain allotted time) and intubation another $99 *There is only ONE entry/exit into the parking lot around the corner. Drive cautiously in because it is narrow. *The waiting area, treatment rooms, restroom, and equipment are new and clean. ***prices can change with time and interventions provided, so take this as a GENERAL ESTIMATE ONLY*** Please allow Dr. Colwill the ability to grow in his profession. There is a lot at stake for a doctor to take full responsibility during urgent/emergency events, and he is crafting his skill in how to best present his knowledge with compassionate humane care to you and your sentient animal. Hold space for your experience, and empathy toward professionals in healthcare. We are also humans experiencing and learning through trauma.

What should have been a straightforward emergency visit turned into a traumatic 8-hour nightmare because of their staff's negligence, terrible attitude, and shocking lack of empathy. While my pug was hospitalized under their direct care, he somehow managed to chew and swallow part of the facility's own equipment. Because the staff failed to properly monitor him, my dog had to endure additional forced vomitin (2 extra times), x-rays, general anesthesia, and an upper GI endoscopy. Putting a small breed through general anesthesia and multiple invasive procedures in pne night takes a massive physical toll, and seeing him go through all of that for an issue they caused was completely heartbreaking and entirely preventable. Sitting in that waiting room for 8 hours overnight was agonizing. Zero Check-Ins & Neglected Updates: I was left sitting in the waiting room for hours on end without a single staff member proactively checking on me or giving me an update. Every single piece of information I received required me to walk up to the front desk and ask for it myself. Distress and Callousness: I sat there for hours hearing my dog whimpering in the back. At the exact same time, I had to listen to the staff laughing, joking, and chatting right nearby. I know people talk and laugh at work, but hearing the staff carry on while my dog was crying in pain after they let him eat hospital equipment felt incredibly cold and insensitive. Attitude & Eye-Rolling Over Documentation requests: When I asked for existing paperwork documenting the equipment incident (simply to ensure I had records in case he needed follow-up treatment late) the RVT gave me a ridiculous amount of attitude, eye-rolling, and unnecessary back-and-forth. To make matters worse, she claimed the doctor was "actually doing me a favor" by waiving the fees for the endoscopy and extra procedures to incude vommiting. Fixing a mistake caused by your own oversight isn't a favor, it's basic accountability. Zero Follow-Through: After promising that the practice manager, "Jennifer," would reach out to address the situation, missing records, and potential future care, I received nothing. No email, no phone call. Complete radio silence. The one single bright spot was the attending veterinarian, Dr. Taniguchi. He truly did his best, treated my dog with care, and tried to make things right by waiving the fees for the incident and escalating it to leadership. I can genuinely see that he cared, and I appreciate him for that. Unfortunately, one good doctor can't make up for a disrespectful staff, negligent supervision, and management that hides behind ghosting a pet owner. Please think twice before leaving your pets here when they are at their most vulnerable.

I was willing to accept high prices because I care about my dogs. Today, I went to get a simple nail trim and heartworm test to continue our flea and heartworm medication. I paid for the dogs services took them home and when I got home, realized that two of my dogs nails were obviously cut below the quick. I was very concerned about this because the reason I pay $40 for a nail trim is so that they can be done right and no one mentioned to me that anything had happened. I called to ask if they had noticed if something had happened to my dog and was told yes that they'd cut it. It had bled. They stopped the bleeding and it should be OK which NOBODY told me when I checked out. When I told them that they should've said something and I'd like a discount for my service today (which was total over $500 by the way) they told me no. I will not be back to this place because honestly if you can't trust someone to do a nail trim or at least let you know when something went wrong. I would not trust them with bigger things.

My Frenchie was having her first litter, and things became very chaotic very quickly. On the way to the hospital, she had her first puppy right there in the front seat of my truck! When we arrived, I called to let them know what was happening, and they were kind enough to come outside and help bring her and her newborn puppy inside. From that moment on, I felt like she was in good hands. The staff was incredibly welcoming, gentle, and compassionate. They knew how to keep me calm without overwhelming me with how serious her C-section was. I was scared and had so many questions, but someone was always there to explain the process and talk me through what was happening. There was honestly no wait time, they took her in right away. I also really appreciated how comfortable they made me feel discussing the cost of everything. I never felt pressured or like I was being pushed to make a decision based on money. Everything was explained clearly, and I felt respected throughout the entire experience. My Frenchie is now home recovering, and I'm so grateful to everyone who took care of her and her puppies. We…read moretook our 6 year old otherwise healthy Labradoodle in due to extreme lethargy and swelling. Intake was fine, but that was the only part of the experience that was. Our dog was taken away for testing and we were left to fill out paperwork. While we were doing that, another patient was trying to make payment for their dog's sudden euthanasia. His card was not working and he was offering alternate ways to pay with no real help or feedback from reception. He felt a bit panicked...his significant other was crying in the exam room while the fact that his card declined had become a very public discussion in the lobby. While we were there an owner came in with a dog that had been hit by a car and another owner came in with a pet with a snake bite. Both were visibly rattled. I had to help one of the owners fill out the intake paperwork, as no help was offered. While we have a dog being put to sleep in one room, two frantic owners in the lobby, and me anxiously awaiting test results, the two people at the front desk talked about their weekend plans and laughed. This went on the entire time I was in the lobby. We were taken to an exam room. The doctor could not pull up the xray images. After waiting for some time, my nerves were frazzled and I ask that she simply dictate what she found, as we did not need visuals. She denied my request and left for 15-20 minutes while trying to figure out how to get the results sent to the correct computer. That wait was horrible as we had absolutely no clue as to what was going on. She finally returned and told us that there was an issue with our dog's spleen and that the surgery would be $8,000 and "probably not worth it." The other options were to take her home and simply wait for natural death, take her home with Chinese herbs that would help death come sooner but not ease the pain, or put her to sleep. At that time I asked my husband to bring our children down to say goodbye. Understand, that morning we left for work with a perfectly healthy (so we thought) 6 year old dog and this decision was absolutely unexpected. After waiting an eternity, the tech came in and administered the medication that caused her breathing to slow and eventually stop. We never saw the doctor after our decision was made. No one offered condolences or their expressed regret that we had such a heavy experience. In fact, though there were signs on two doors that said "please be quite, someone is saying goodbye to a loved one" we walked out with red, swollen faces to staff still cracking jokes behind the desk. It felt surreal. Sometime later a voicemail was left letting me know her remains were ready for pick up. Before I could call back, they placed a second call. Quite frankly, I wasn't ready to take that call knowing what it was about, but I answered. The person on the other end was very matter of fact and ended the conversation saying that if I don't come by the end of the week my dog's remains would "be disposed of." Mind you, this is the first time their office ever talked to me...it isn't like months or even weeks had passed since I was given this information. Additionally, my dog's cremation was a service that I paid several hundreds for. To act like they were doing some favor by holding her 5" x 7" box in their office until I could pick her up was unacceptable and cruel. Over the years I have had many pets that passed and I have never, ever experienced such treatment. I, unfortunately, have to drive by this location daily and every time I do I think back to the poor treatment we experienced from the time we checked in until we picked up our dog's remains. I write this as a word of caution because I would genuinely hate for another pet loving family to ever experience this.

We were scared and wanted help as quickly as possible. Instead, we felt like we walked into a business that saw our fear as an opportunity. Before discussing a reasonable treatment plan, we were charged over $1,300 for diagnostics (X-rays, ultrasound, bloodwork, etc.). After all of that, we were told he needed to be hospitalized for 24-48 hours at an estimated cost of $4,800-$6,100. We were devastated. Fortunately, we called a friend who works at Orange County Animal Hospital and immediately transferred our dog there. The difference was unbelievable. Their staff was compassionate, moved much faster, and took a thoughtful, measured approach that balanced what our dog actually needed with the financial reality every pet owner faces. Our dog was successfully treated overnight, and the total bill was about $1,400. We were also told the same diagnostic workup would have cost around $500 there instead of the $1,300 we had already paid. That experience made it impossible not to wonder whether ACCESS's recommendations were driven by what was best for our dog--or by what would generate the biggest bill. As a pet owner, you are at your most vulnerable during an emergency. You'll do almost anything to save your animal. In my opinion, ACCESS takes advantage of that desperation with staggering prices and an aggressive approach to treatment that can leave families feeling like they have no choice but to spend thousands of dollars on the spot. To make matters worse, with the exception of a couple of employees, we found the staff to be cold and unfriendly. The veterinarian we dealt with showed very little empathy during one of the most stressful nights we've ever had with our dog. I understand that emergency veterinary medicine is expensive. I expected to pay a premium. What I did not expect was to feel pressured into a treatment plan costing over $6,000, only to discover another emergency hospital treated the exact same condition successfully for a fraction of the cost. If you love your pet--and of course you do--please know that you have options. Call another emergency hospital. Get a second opinion if your pet is stable enough to do so. It could save you thousands of dollars without compromising your pet's care. I will never return to ACCESS Animal Hospital, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. Based on my experience, I would only go here if there were truly no other emergency veterinary hospitals available.
