Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk staff, specifically Lae and Cicily, was much less positive. At check-in, I greeted Lae and asked how she was doing, and her only response was a very stark "blessed," which immediately came across as unwelcoming. My checkout experience with Cicily was even more uncomfortable. Her greeting felt sarcastic, and she proceeded to question Diasia about the timing and cost of my service in a way that felt unnecessary and condescending, especially considering the instructor had already reviewed and signed off on the quote that was presented to me. I understand that this is a learning environment, and based on my experience with Diasia, there are clearly very talented and capable students at Paul Mitchell Dallas. However, the front desk is the first and last interaction clients have with the school, and unfortunately, those interactions made an otherwise positive appointment difficult to enjoy. Customer-facing staff should be receptive, professional, and accommodating. I would absolutely recommend Diasia based on the service she provided, but the front desk experience would make me hesitant to return.

However, learning also requires humility and a willingness to listen--especially when working on someone's natural hair. The student who worked on my hair, Tatum, seemed more interested in projecting confidence than listening to the person whose hair she was servicing. I have 4C natural hair and have specific goals for retaining length and minimizing breakage. I politely explained what works for my hair throughout the process, but my input was met with resistance rather than curiosity. At one point, she even asked if I had gone to cosmetology school because I was giving guidance about my own hair. After applying a demi-color, my hair was not thoroughly conditioned, which is an important step for my hair texture. During the blow-drying process, my hair was repeatedly brushed while dry, causing unnecessary breakage that could have been minimized by properly detangling and conditioning it at the shampoo bowl first. Instead of focusing on technique, there seemed to be more attention given to casual conversation. What disappointed me most was the lack of instruction from the supervising staff. A cosmetology school should be a place where students are actively taught how to work with all hair textures, including tightly coiled 4C hair. Supervisors should be demonstrating, correcting techniques, and encouraging students to listen to clients who know their own hair. My recommendation to Ogle School is to strengthen the training of both students and supervisors when it comes to textured hair. Every client deserves to feel heard, and every future cosmetologist should graduate with the skills and humility to care for all hair types--not just the ones they are most familiar with. I truly hope this feedback is taken constructively because there is an opportunity to improve the learning experience for both students and clients.

Bottom line: Patsy Charles runs a successful business. She spends a large amount of that money on the school and the teachers. I've also visited multiple Aveda Institutes over the years in different cities--New York, Mason (Ohio), and East Lansing (Michigan)--and the consistency is exactly why I keep coming back. You truly can't beat the price for the quality of service you receive. The students are professional, attentive, and clearly well-trained, and the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable. They've been in the industry for years and are always present, offering guidance, stepping in when needed, and making adjustments to ensure the client is happy with the final result. I've always felt listened to and well taken care of. One thing to keep in mind--this comes with any hair school--is timing. If you're booking color or more involved services, plan accordingly. Appointments can take a while, so I recommend clearing your schedule and expecting to be there at least half a day (sometimes longer). It's well worth it if you plan ahead. I would 1000% return and will continue coming back. Between the great experiences, amazing value, and the Aveda products, scents, and services they offer, this place is truly a gem.

Took this course in Dec '22 as a first-time motorcycle rider. The instructor asked if I had any…read moreexperience and I told instructor that I didn't. The first part of the course is in a classroom. The instructor had a slideshow that the class went over and then we took a quick multiple-choice test. Before we went to the riding range, the instructor let us know that he will have to "raise his voice" on the range to be heard over the motorcycle engines and asked if everyone was ok with that. I said that I was ok with that, along with the rest of the class. Of course, it is important that the instructor needs to be heard over the motorcycle engines on the range. However, when we get to the range, my experience of the course (more specifically, the instructor) is terrible and I cannot recommend. The instructor apparently thought that the BRC course was a military boot-camp. He was not raising his voice to be heard over the engines. The engines were NOT that loud. He was instead yelling at us for any and every single mistake I, and others, were making during the course. I should mention that there were only three people in this class. There wasn't that many students! As a first time rider, I was (obviously) a little nervous riding a motorcycle for the first time. *Being constantly yelled at for mistakes that new-riders make is not good for learning.* For example, we were doing a braking exercise. I went brought the motorcycle up to speed and then braked quickly, remaining calm, comfortable, and loose on the motorcycle. The instructor said I need to brake harder. The next time around *while I was in the middle of braking* the instructor was yelling at me from 5 feet away "*BRAKE! BRAKE! BRAKE!*". As a first-time motorcycle rider, I slammed on my brakes immediately! I didn't know what the instructor was panicking about but I was going to follow directions! Fortunately, I was not thrown from the bike. However, the instructor saw fit to then berate me on slamming on my brakes. I cannot recommend anyone take the BRC at Motorcycle Training Center until new instructors who can competently teach the course are brought in. I have taken the BRC at a different place with an instructor who is knowledgeable and patient with first-time riders. I learned a lot more from the other course and am riding with much more confidence.
