Great place for everything "hair!" This school is very well run by several instructors who work with and supervise all students when working with clients. They also offer esthetics like facials and other services. Appointments are always recommended although not required. Students get zero compensation unless you leave a tip so please tip generously! read more

As a student I do not recommend. I graduated Collectiv this year and over all I think it could have been better learning path. The instructors for esthetics were nice and learned a lot but I think it was over all very rushed. If they could have touched in some topics a little more would have been nice. After all that I came back to do my hair for the discount and one of the instructors Emily was really rude. She was being really disrespectful and very unprofessional would talk to my stylist in a very rude manner and made me really uncomfortable and I could feel the tension in the air. I wanted to run... but I couldn't with wet hair. read more

I have previously visited The Collectiv Academy on 2 other occasions for my first and second facial experiences and I had such great service that when I received a promotion about "Wax it Wednesday" I just couldn't pass it up. Of course, this place exceeded my expectations, once again! Ericka was preparing to complete her waxing exam and I was 100% confident I was in good hands! She did a PHENOMENAL job with my Brazilian wax, I was completely comfortable with her even tho I was a little nervous in general since...well..this is hot wax after all in a very sensitive area lol! She talked me through the entire process and really put me at ease. Her instructor Callie was amazing as well, I felt completely safe and secure and we had great laughs along the way! It was truly a great experience and I will be back to get these hairs snatched again very soon!! Haha! read more

I wasn't going to write a review of my negative experience because these are students and they are learning, but because of the message I received from Serenity after my appointment, I felt the need to. I found Serenity on a FB group and reached out to her about hair color. I sent her pics of what I was looking for and she said "yes we can ABSOLUTELY do this! I think that is literally such a good color." (I have screenshots of this convo). Anyone who tells you this you would think ok things will go good. I book with her. A few days before, I get a message something came up and she needed to reschedule me. I was understanding and moved my appointment around. Day of I get a call that Serenity couldn't make it in but they could put me with someone else. Again I was understanding and I agreed. I get there and the instructor does the initial consult with the girl I was with and she tells her what colors she should use. At this point, not once did anyone say we cannot get this color for you. The girl does the color and it didn't turn out anything what I asked for. Even she agreed. She does a toner which turned it a color that I absolutely did not want. Since it was late they agree to have me come back in Saturday. I get there Saturday and another instructor comes to look at my hair and she is the only one who said we cannot do this here at the school, you need to go to a salon. At this point my hair color is a mess already and all I wanted was them to make it somewhat better. I told them at first appointment I had a vacation coming up and headshots. I was clearly upset as anyone would be. I know these are students but they rely on the instructor to guide them. I was never rude to the girl who did my hair. I even told her I was not mad at her and I was just frustrated with the whole experience. She somewhat made it better. I was also in a rush that day to make it to my son's game so I know she did the best she could with the time she had. That evening I get a message from Serenity accusing me of being rude and treating her friend bad, and making nasty comments which I never did. Serenity said to find another stylist... well I was never planning on returning after this or seeing Serenity because as a student she did not do her part by consulting with her instructor before telling me she ABSOLUTELY can do that color. She was also unprofessional messaging me accusing me of anything she was not there for to see herself. Serenity also said "I understand you didn't get what you want but you also paid $10"... OK??? and?? It doesn't matter if I pay $10 or $200... it does not give someone the pass to mess up my hair. She also said she wanted to hear my perspective and then blocked me on FB. Why even state that. She is unprofessional. As a hair stylist, if you state you can deliver something and don't, then be prepared to have an upset client and learn how to handle that. read more
