For esthetics this is easily one of the best schools. I'm licensed in many states now and this school is better than most offered! Ms. Cinda is amazing and glymed plus products are still my absolute favorite **Also, they provide amazing study help to pass the state boards exams (unlike other schools I've gone to since). If you're contemplating schools, definitely choose this one over ogle or others in the area. I scheduled my appointment on line and scheduled the case study program that includes 6 facials over 6 weeks for $120. It seemed like a great deal and one I had actually done at another business. My appointment was confirmed. I arrived and am waiting to be seen and an instructor comes out to tell me they don't currently do the case studies because the class isn't at that point. They do have regular facials available if I wanted to stay. It irritated me a little because this was not communicated to me prior to my arrival. No big deal though I wanted a facial so I elected to stay and pay the higher rate. I was led into a large room with multiple beds. Probably more than 10. I appeared to be the only client but the other beds were occupied by students practicing on other students. Again no big deal. They wrapped me up like a burrito and that was a new experience with a facial for me. Typically they have me change into a Velcro towel wrap so my shoulders arms and Décolletage. My shoulders and arms were kind bound up close due to the burrito wrap of the blanket. It wasn't bad just not what I was expecting and was a bit surprised. They did the facial which I thought was a Hydrafacial but was instead a Hydrofacial and really not even close to a Hydrafacial. But, it is a school not a salon so I figured I needed to just give it a pass and chalk it up to misunderstanding. The facial was okay but really nothing special and obviously they paid no attention to my Décolletage or arms and hands. The student was pleasant and let me know she had never done that type of facial before and needed instructions during the facial. Again, no big deal. It is a school but I would have thought they would have practiced at least once before attempting a procedure on a client. Not a huge deal. She did an okay job. She finished and I left her a very generous tip because I know these students need money because in many cases they don't have time to work another job and go to school too. I attempted to schedule another appointment and they told me that the system was down and they would call me when it was back up. They didn't. I don't blame the students. I blame the staff at the school. They basically dropped the ball at every turn. I would never go back because they obviously didn't care about my experience or the student. read more

I wasn't able to make it off the wait list for the Yelp Elite event here, but they offered a free facial to make it up. I'm writing this 2 days after and my skin feels dryyyy. This was actually my first facial ever, and I was expecting the "glow" that everyone talks about. After some googling, I think I'm supposed to be glowing within a couple more days after the dead skin sloughs away. I was planning on running some errands after the facial but ended up going home because my face was so red and dewy/oily looking from all the product. The actual experience was overall positive. My technician tended to me very well and genuinely cared, but just lacked the ability to communicate clearly. She dimmed the lights in the room and wrapped me in a cocoon with the blanket to keep my warm. She said the steam would help with warmth as well, but that was probably all it helped with because it was angled at my neck, which I'm guessing did very little to help open my pores. Laying there with my eyes closed was very relaxing minus the occasional loud talking right outside - I would recommend hosting the facials in a closed room with a door to create the feeling of a sanctuary. The actual procedure is unknown to me since I wasn't told about any of the products used on my face or even the kind of facial I was being offered. Only at the end was I told that I was given some kind of anti-aging stuff, which is really about all I could tell you. The brushes they used felt like Home Depot paint brushes - softish if you got the flat part of it but would jab a little bit at the top. I was expecting something more along the lines of an oversized makeup brush. read more

I normally go to Toni and Guy academy or the Paul Mitchell school for my haircuts because you're helping out the students get more experience as well as getting a quality style haircut at an amazingly low price. It was the week of Thanksgiving, so the other schools were booked but this school was open for walk ins. There weren't many people there and I think only because the normal model days start of Wednesday and that day was a Tuesday. I felt like I had the whole place to myself. Upon walking into the place, it felt pretty trendy and clean. Even the bathrooms were clean. I just needed a shampoo and haircut and I was greeted by a friendly student who was a month away from graduating. She saw the picture of what I wanted and knew immediately the plans for my hair and mapped out what her intentions were and what needed to be done and she would let me know what she did before she did it. I wanted a long graduated bob with layers and so she made sure she did a long version of it before going too short and not being able to undo it. That was very smart of her to do so. Overall I was in love with the haircut and her presence. There was a teacher there who occasionally monitored her, but she didn't really make her presence known to me or introduce herself, so I thought that it wasn't very professional on her end. Either way, I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area. I'm interested in trying out the other skincare side of the academy. read more

I don't have a relaxer or weave and my natural texture is quite wavy. I love wearing my hair straight but my flat iron skills aren't impressive with the exception of straightening my very easy to see and easy to reach bangs. I like going to styling academies, great price, real experience for the students. I had defected from Salon Academy to Ogle School. It didn't last long because they just told me they are going to start charging me $10 extra for length. If my hair was hanging halfway to my booty I would understand. My hair is not long, just past my shoulders a bit so no way to extra charges. I made an appointment back at Salon Boutique Academy because I have had beautiful results with Jessica and Miracle on more than one occasion. They are talented young ladies, taking it seriously what they are learning and you can tell they really care about the client experience. I am super bad with names and cannot remember the name of the young lady who did my makeup but I am pretty sure Frankie was the one who did my hair, along with another lady. Everyone that I encountered was absolutely wonderful and welcoming. I got the Lips, Locks and Lashes spa package that included makeup, false lashes and either an updo or a curled style. Salon Boutique Academy offers many beauty services like facials, makeup, hair, lashes, LED Therapy etc. I've been here a few times for facials. Making an appointment is simple by just texting your request. They offer Groupons and even without one their services are reasonably affordable. I love knowing that coming here is somewhat of a symbiotic payoff; discounted quality facials for me and experience for the wonderful cosmetology students here. The students are great at explaining every step and what each product does for my skin. Every time I get one, my skin feels amazing and the next morning it looks healthier and brighter. The check in and check out process has always been awkward. No one at the front desk so you just sit there and wait and then waiting at the end back at the same desk with no one there. Minus 1 star. Being an Esthetician myself, I'm extremely picky and don't like crap products on my skin --- they use GlyMed here, which is a nice line! No lie, most schools only use the uber-cheap stuff, so this was a refreshing change! Going in for a facial at a beauty academy is an absolute must! I am giving one star because I booked here for a Groupon haircut last week and got my hair done. I was charged $7.50 on Groupon and the front desk informed me that I would have to pay full price when my appointment was finished. Unfortunately I did not question and thought that it wasn't too bad and they would settle up with Groupon. I had mentioned multiple times that I booked through Groupon already. So I was double charged and when I called to get it resolved, not only was I hung up on but it was not taken care of. I tried giving t time, but they just want the money it seems like. My haircut is okay, I asked for it to be longer in front and she ended up cutting all the length off and made it shorter in front. I also was told I would be styled after the basic blow dry, but that didn't happen either. All in all, I will not be going back or recommending this place ever. read more

My mom went to SBA and she still knows some people that go there. She was getting her roots done while me and my sister were sitting waiting. We noticed these two girls calling people, asking to be color retouch models and im sittin over there with roots, so after they made a million calls, I offered for them to do my hair lol :P Madi was the one who did my hair with tips and tricks from Frankie and my hair looks amazing. :) She did my roots first and then pulled the color from my scalp to my ends. And I cant tell you how pleased I am. She was so nervous (at least that is what she kept saying) but she was very good at hiding it (which is good in the hair industry, your client will feel uneasy if you are showing that you are nervous your client will get the feel that you dont know what the heck your doin) She applied the color in a well amount of time for being a student. She also was good about carrying a conversation while working on my hair. (some people have to either talk or not talk) which is frustrating because i like to talk but, I also want my hair to be getting done lol Overall I love my hair and I hope that when Frankie decides to go through being a student instructor that he is there when I come to SBA because he is AWESOME at teaching. And I am not just saying that. He is very informative with the tips that he gives you. He engages you and asks you questions to walk you through the process. He does not say/ do it for you. He may show you how to do it as an example and then leaves the rest for you to do. Also another good thing is he does not boast like he is a Mr. Know it all. Very pleased! :) read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Such rude service. Not only do they not welcome guests with a smile the male instructor is just a rude person. I feel sorry for the students that are taught by him. The lady who was working on my hair wasn't quite sure how to get the look I was going for so she calls her rude instructor to take a look. Without even touching my hair he looks at the image I was showing and says we can't do it. When asking for an explanation he said because I said my hair is oily to the student. Misunderstanding what I had stated, I requested for him to feel and see that it isn't and that the look is possible (done it myself before). He still doesn't bother to feel for himself and then tells me he can't do it because I was late. Also, a misunderstanding. He gets dramatic and tells me I have to leave with my hair half done. I go to tell my friend what happened as she is getting her hair done and then he tells me I can't talk to her on the floor because it is a school and that we had to leave. She decides to not finish and leave as well. So I officially have been kicked out of a salon. I couldn't even speak to anyone in the front because he was hovering around until we left. I was finally able to get an appt. for one of the 2 days the salon is open to customers. Unfortunately, even though I have had perms here several times in the past that turned out great, this was the worst perm I have ever had. My hair looks no different than before I had the perm, with the crown flat and straight and the ends, which initially still had some perm left on them, is now just wavy frizz. There are sections of hair on both sides that feel like there is some kind of build-up on them. I don't know whether or not she didn't leave the solution on long enough, or left the neutralizer on too long, but my hair is a mess and, short of cutting most of it off, I won't be able to do anything until this ruined hair grows out. It normally takes several hours for students to perm my hair. I wasn't keeping track of the time, but when I left I realized I had only been there about 1 1/2 hours. Maybe it would have helped an instructor had more closely supervised the whole thing, rather than just drop off supplies and walking away. An instructor never even came over to check my hair before the student started working on it, like the last time I was there when I was told there was too much perm left on my head to allow them to re-perm it. The student working on me never even dried my hair, so I really couldn't tell what it looked like until I got home and it had dried. The tight curls and wash and dry hair I was expecting were nonexistent, and I will have to continue blow drying my hair for the next few months. Also, I overhead the 2 students working on the customer in the seat next to mine saying they had to re-do the color they were putting on her because something was messed up. Obviously, I am in the market for a new salon and will never return here. read more

An the girl had absolutely no clue on what she was doing. She was getting instructed the whole time. Which I understand it's a beauty school, and she had never done fusion extensions. She was trying, but reason why I'm giving this a star is because, nobody should have to wait there from 9.am to 7 pm. Insane!!! I ended up not getting the extensions just my hair colored, I mean if it took them 10 hours to do just that, I can't imagine getting what I actually wanted done. which the color to me was fine. But absolutely not worth $150 dollars for color extractor. I wouldn't be back!!! read more

I got here at 12:25pm for my one-hour facial at 12:30pm. The ladies at the front were nice and greeted us immediately. They took my sister in first at 12:30pm, but I waited for 20 minutes and didn't start my facial until 1pm (35 minutes after I arrived). Christa (or Krista) was very sweet and helpful. She did the acne treatment which felt amazing on my skin. I like more pressure on my face and asked for more, but I think it's just her sweet, gentle personality. My facial finished after 40 minutes, even though it was an hour facial? Then I waited again at the front for another 25 minutes for my sister to finish. Overall this academy is great. Super nice staff and service and beautiful environment, but the waiting time is disappointing. read more
