Do not hire these people. DOB was called on my project. I was fined $15k for a violation caused by MCG. The firm managed to finish my project after a year had passed. I am still dealing with the DOB nightmare. Modern Citi refuses to help with correcting the violation caused by their carelessness. I have had to rehire another company to fix these problems. What was intended to be a renovation to address water damage on our white marble tiles in a newly constructed building has turned into an ongoing nightmare. Initially, we engaged a renovation group that seemed promising. Their previous reviews were positive, which led us to believe they were competent and experienced. (We now think their glowing reviews are fraudulent). Unfortunately, their performance soon revealed significant shortcomings. From the outset, it became apparent that the group lacked the necessary expertise. They struggled to source materials and hardware for our project. Instead of relying on their supposed industry knowledge, we found ourselves spending hours online searching for suitable materials. They were unfamiliar with some of the well-known luxury material distributors in the city, further complicating the process. Despite these early concerns, we remained hopeful and continued to push forward. However, what started as minor inconveniences quickly escalated into major problems. As construction approached, the group repeatedly assured us that the project would take around one month. A week before construction was set to begin, they discovered that the tub size they had ordered did not match the technical drawings. This mistake forced them to revert to the original hardware--hardware that had caused issues in the initial build of the building. This error marked the beginning of a series of cascading problems. The group's disorganization and poor communication soon became glaringly evident. They drilled the shower rail guards backwards, necessitating the removal and plugging of costly tiles. The tech also filled in the weep holes in the shower holes with caulking by mistake. So water to this day cannot drain through the weep holes. Also, the sink was installed backwards, and they only discovered the error when we pointed it out. Plumbing issues compounded the problems; the sink's plumbing was done poorly, and their plumber attempted to install an illegal trap, which we had to correct based on our family's construction business experience. Then, the plumber had to come multiple times because the sink would not drain. Leaks were another significant issue. Once the pipes were installed, we discovered that both the sink and the toilet were leaking. We had to intervene once more, instructing the plumber and the group on proper installation procedures. Additionally, the caulking used for the tub was apparently defective, requiring them to redo it but they forgot they had to dry the wet tub first. With all these mistakes, the project manager inexplicably never came on site, except for the first day of construction. The tech and the manager just communicated via cell phone photos. Also, we were frequently informed that a technician would arrive to address problems, leading us to vacate the premises for weekends. Unfortunately, these tech visits often resulted in no-shows, with no explanation. The bathroom floor heater still does not work to this day. And, we still don't have a glass shelf they broke, which they said was being cut to size 1.5 years ago. As a $2,500 credit for their errors and an unpaid $900+ does not compensate for the ongoing ordeal, we are now considering other avenues. read more

We spent a good amount of time searching for contractors-kitchen around Brooklyn for our kitchen remodeling. One year ago we used to hire Modern Citi Group to complete our bathroom remodel. So we decided to contact Modern Citi Group for general contracting again. Licensed contractor Daniil guided us through the process from beginning to end- Daniil was a total professional.  He is patient, creative and so knowledgeable- and truly wants his client to be totally satisfied. I don't think anybody could ever say that planning a kitchen it's not stressful. However, I never got stressed with Modern Citi Group! We met a number of times, often tweaking and modifying the plan and design of our new kitchen until our project manager Matvei was confident we had everything we wanted. The entire process from start to finish was made to be as painless as possible. I am a bit over the top when it comes to details and Licensed Contractor Daniil and project manager Matvei were extremely detail oriented, so we were a "good fit". They remove all old cabinets from the kitchen and particularly finished all demolition works very quickly. So, I would like to say that Modern Citi Group team completed such a very professional job with flooring! Our new hard wood floor looks amazing! Also our project included installation of dishwasher. Since we never had it on our kitchen they connected the machine to the pipes of the main water supply system. This part is more exited for me and probably for every women in the topic of having dishwasher in the kitchen. Our project manager Matvei also suggested to us that we could installed LED lights to make our kitchen even more modern. However, from the beginning our kitchen remodel project took only 3,5 week to complete it all. Can't say enough about design! We werent confident about taking on a full home renovation of our brownstone in Brooklyn Heights, but Anna and her team made the process surprisingly smooth. From the initial site meeting to the day we moved back in, MCG showed professionalism. Daniil's knowledge and experience in working with the LPC was pretty impressive  (it gets complicated when working with landmark buildings), but we went through the review process and got the approval pretty quickly. Our kitchen remodel turned out beautiful, the custom cabinetry and that stunning waterfall island are to die for. The bathrooms were remodeled, we converted the bathtub to a curbless shower in one of the bathrooms, which looks amazing. We replaced all floors, skim coated walls, framed out new soffits, installed new lights, installed drop ceilings in bedrooms and kitchen, added recessed lighting, new baseboards, cove moldings with led strip lighting. Frank, our project manager, was always available to address our concerns, even reaching out to vendors when tile delivery was being delayed. The attention to detail is impressive, and I mean it when i say it. Its our home, so I was going in detail during the final walkthrough, but the list of touch ups wasnt that long, you could clearly see that Frank inspected all the work and told the team to address the touch ups before the walkthrough - which we appreciated. Regarding timeline,  it took a bit longer than initially planned (about 4 months instead of originally planned 3), but the results were absolutely worth it, plus we added some work along the way.. I did a decent amount of research before deciding on a Remodeling Contractor for our 5000 square foot office building in Williamsburg. After reading reviews, speaking with some of my contractor friends and vetting a few companies over the phone, I ended up going with Modern Citi Group. They made me more comfortable after speaking to a few of their different team members and actually going into their office to meet a few of the architects' face to face. To jump ahead now that the job has been completed, we are extremely satisfied with the results. Artem was the project manager and he was amazing to work with. His attention to detail and veteran experience kept me calm. The process was a big learning experience for me and our in-house staff really enjoyed the whole journey. They taught us a lot about design and guided us on a lot of the big stylistic decisions. We used home remodeling contractor Modern Citi Group for a full gut renovation of our 100+ year old brownstone in Bed Stuy. Daniil and his team did an amazing job. They refinished and supported the original staircase, created a stunning open kitchen, did bathroom remodeling of all 3 bathrooms, replaced all the flooring, baseboards, crown moldings, skim coated all walls, installed drop ceilings, recessed lights throughout the house. I am quite sure I hired a magician home remodeling contractor in New York because this man from Modern Citi Group and his team are 100% magic! My building in Queens was built in the 1990s and had a bathroom was never remodeled. I wanted it to be completely gutted and redone and I knew it would be a major undertaking. According to my plan I began to search for a right person to had a general contracting with. My close friend recommended to give a call to one of the local bathroom remodeling contractor Modern Citi Group. Next day I met with renovation contractor Daniil and he drew up preliminary plans for a brand new bathroom remodeling. I also understood that I would need a good designer to fulfill all my needs. After our first meeting, Daniil met me with his designer and project manager. The original design of the bathroom was kind of that pinky/beige marble that was really popular in the 90's and was kind of hip/classic at the time. I definitely prefer a bit more of a cleaner, white tile look, and decided at least make it look awesome! It's a tight space, and they made sure to help us utilize every inch. We hired Modern Citi Group to do a gut renovation of our 3 bedroom prewar apartment in manhattan (full electrical rewiring, replacement of all plumbing, demolition of walls, re-plastering/painting all walls, refinishing hardwood floors, remodeled completely 2 bathrooms and kitchen, pocket door installation, closet install etc.).Quality of the work was great and were able to start the project a week after agreement which I was pleasantly surprised. All permits and paperworks were done a timely manner without any issues. The team helped along the way to make the project go smoothly with my building and managing office. A couple of issues came up along the way and the team was able to resolve all of them pretty fast. On the negative side, a few issues came up but can be easily resolved if you consider them for your project: -Timeline was not kept due in part of my building since they had mechanical issues with the elevators and extra work needed to be done to be compliant with the building requirements but towards the end of the project, the team was promising deadlines that they couldn't meet. The completion date kept being pushed back. -The worksite was dirty and finished work was unprotected (tiles/cabinets/appliances etc). We just finished a full apartment renovation of our condo in NYC with Modern Citi Group. We had a great experience, big thanks to Daniil and his team, who handled the entire process, including the design, architectural work, project management, and all documentation so we did not have to communicate with any of the subcontractors or outside vendors.  Our apartment was so outdated, it needed a complete renovation. We did not know where to start so decided to do a kitchen remodel, followed by other areas later on. The team advised that it would be more cost-effective to do the project at once since we don't have to pay for the building documents and permits several times. After some thinking, we decided to add kitchen remodeling, flooring, lighting, and the rest of the work. We had so many ideas but did not know where to start. When we got the design visualizations, we were so happy cause we could picture the finished result right away and the process became so much easier. The team provided several sets of visualizations so we can see exactly how our new kitchen and bathroom will look like. Daniil was always on site supervising (unlike other general contractors we worked with previous) and would always be available to answer any questions or discuss any ongoing concerns with the construction. Daniil is a wonderful person to work with. He is thoughtful, efficient and organized, but also honest, trust-worthy and committed to quality. Throughout the project Daniil and his crew added small details and finishes that were out of the scope of the project but dramatically improved the final product. Our restaurant was long needed to repair toilets for customers. We are located in Midtown East, so we met with multiple independent contractors last month who work in the area, but Daniil seemed like the perfect person to work with. After first meeting with him we chose Modern Citi Group for our renovation project. Daniil spent a lot of time with us to understand our remodeling needs and prepare us well for the days ahead. So, it seems fair to add another 5 star review for them - they deserve it. After double checking on google and Houzz, I noticed that Modern Citi Group is the type of construction company I would like to work with to renovate my bathroom in the really old building from the 70's in Queens. On my first call we schedule a walk-through meeting with a project estimator Matvei. He organized all my wants based on the budget we agreed and presented to me in a very detailed estimate the same week. We continued to communicate and discuss the final changes for a few more days and I ended up signing a home improvement contract with the home remodeling contractor Modern Citi Group for a full bathroom remodel. I especially liked the communication with Matvei, as he always was quick to respond throughout the project. I was hard pressed to find a licensed general contractor in NYC who will meet all my requests and getting the full house renovation done by Modern Citi Group was the best decision I've made. These guys are honest, helpful and made the remodeling process go seamless as much as possible. I've done my estimating request on their website (which is pretty easy to fill and it only took me 5-10 min to complete it). Later that day I had a conversation with Anna from MCG. She displays both professionalism and amiability. Moreover, Anna spended around an hour answering all my questions and helping me to schedule a walkthrough. I had the pleasure of meeting my project manager Daniil on the walkthrough. He took great care of all the details we discussed and in a week his team prepared a very detailed spreadsheet of work, costs and timing. Once the project started I received an excess to the app where I could see all the work they've completed each day and what's left. So, there is no strong reason to come to the jobsite, I can see the progress through the phone app by daily updates. Still, after the demolition I appeared numerous times and everytime was highly impressed how clean and tidy the worksite was. I have to say, the renovation wasn't cheap. I can't speak highly enough of building contractor MCG - they literally saved our bathrooms. We were looking for a local licensed contractor in Brooklyn to remodel our bathroom and master bathroom. We needed to correct some issues from previous construction and update the look of the space. We hired Daniel and his team to remodel our kitchen. If you could even call what we had a kitchen. He was willing to work with a limited budget which was nice. We did have to stay on top of the details but Daniel was a pleasure to work with and very responsive and made any changes we needed. We loved the finished project. We would have given him 5 stars if he only did the kitchen but we gave him 4 stars because we had him refinish our wood floors and the guys he contracted it out to did not do a good job. Daniel of course had a different guy come and fix the floors. He said he wasn't going to use those guys again. So all In all we were happy with the finished product. I was purchasing my first apartment in Midtown East knowing that kitchen and bathroom will have to be remodeled. Daniil and his team at Modern Citi Group came highly recommended from my wife's brother and I can't say enough of how easy and professional the entire process was. My main concern that I told Daniil about from the beginning was not to go over the budget - and luckily I didn't, in fact, they provided different options that fit in my budget and explained all possible unforeseen surprises. Now, the kitchen looks amazing, we have brand new kitchen cabinets, new stainless steel appliances (range, hood, double sink, added a dishwasher), quartz countertop (was thinking about natural stone / marble first) with matching backsplash and they also picked and installed a very beautiful floor tile which Im in love with. I didn't like is the old radiator by the window, which my building didn't allow to replace, and they fabricated and installed a beautiful custom radiator cover. Bathroom used to have an old bathtub that I disliked. So we converted it into a walk in shower, with the bench and spacious shower niche. It was a gut renovation, so we obviously replaced water lines, shut off valves, toilet, vanity (wall mounted now), and everything else that the bathroom had. Everything is now completely new. I should've posted this review earlier. I recommend Modern Citi Group to everyone looking for kitchen, bathroom remodel or any other interior renovation. Either you're looking on Yelp or elsewhere - this is a go to company. read more

We finished remodeling our Restaurant in the Bronx this summer and we used Modern Citi after hearing a lot about them from a few friends of mine. It has always been hard for us to find a solid Remodeling Contractor in the Bronx. This was a big Renovation so I wanted the personal referral from someone I trust. They ended up being a great fit with us. I know a renovation is always stressful and this one was stressful in particular because of COVID and specific deadlines that we had in place. Their team was very good at navigating every obstacle that came up and they kept a clear head which is not something I can say for myself. You could tell that they have done a lot of jobs like this because they were there every day putting in the hard work and they were not rattled by any of the adversity or deadlines. They helped me to not pull my hair out and their ability to renovate this place so nicely and completely change the look and feel of it under those tight deadlines was very impressive to me.
