A friend had told me about Modern Eyez, her good experience, and that I would really like the atmosphere, not just the product. While West Linn is a little far from my NE dwelling, I decided to make the trek out there to check it out. Not only is there a fabulous display of contemporary, funky, and conservative frame options, but my friend was right: the atmosphere is very comfortable, with fun, knowledgeable staff. I came in for an eye check up and to order new contacts, and felt very well taken care of. My vision had changed only slightly, I walked out with a pair of contacts to wear that day, and my contacts order came in within a few days! They even shipped the order to me to save me the trip. Starting with how things went at check in, the exam, and ultimately the fitting for my new glasses. I had my wife come in and follow the same process. I had a great experience at Modern 'Eyez Vision Clinic. I am already a return customer! Dr. Ann Woods hooked me up with a fabulous pair of Kate Spade sunglasses that I had seen online. I had a hard time finding them in stores, so she ordered a pair for me. They arrived quickly, and I couldn't be happier with them. When I was in need of new glasses, I knew I wanted to return to Dr. Woods. I did not have to wait long for an appointment. She ran on time, and her exam was very thorough! My glaucoma screening did not require that annoying puff of air (thank goodness). She even spotted something during my exam that she recommended I talk to my PCP about. Everything turned out fine, but I appreciated Dr. Woods' attention to detail. When it came time to choose a pair of new glasses, both Jeffrey and Dr. Woods assisted me. There were lots of styles to choose from, all with reasonable price points. I fell in love with a couple of pairs, and Jeffrey and Dr. Woods gave me great feedback. I settled on a contemporary metal frame from ProDesign in green. They arrived within one week! I don't have any insurance coverage for eye care, but my total bill was very reasonable--better than what I paid for my last pair of glasses at a trendy boutique in Portland that took my VSP insurance at that time! I'm very grateful to have found Modern Eyez Vision Clinic. When my contact lens prescription expires, I will definitely schedule an appointment with Dr. Woods. read more

Great place because of the great PEOPLE who work there. This isn't a "chain" - the eye doctor and her husband own the place. They've hired two nice people to work for them. They have hip, modern, cool glasses and dark glasses - amazing selection (you'll feel like you're in hip downtown Portland vs. the burbs). And they're great at recommending what frames will look good. The eye doctor Ann is wonderful and it's so convenient to have "one-stop" shopping for your eye exam and glasses. They do a great job of helping you and fixing things if something's wrong. I ordered a cute pair of small lenses that I had a hard time seeing with in a transitional lens. Pros: This is a very modern office, using great new technology and a nice selection of glasses to choose from. The exam was great, Dr. Woods is very nice. Cons: The staff is completely unprofessional! Their phone etiquette was horrible. Not just a one time experience either, each time I called I got a rude and unprofessional service. Also, while sitting in the office waiting for my appointment there was rude and inappropriate dialogue between the 2 office assistants. I do like Dr. Woods and the office in general but I will not return because of the rest of the staff. read more

Dr. Woods is a very professional individual who has the best interest of her patients always in mind. A few soccer seasons back, I took a blow to my right eye and couldn't see out of it when I looked down or to the right. I immediately contacted Dr. Woods and she responded promptly and answered my questions. Although I didn't have an appointment, she didn't hesitate to see me when I told her about my mishap. She calmly walked me through her procedures and why. In the end, it was simply bruising, but she allayed any fears I had about a more serious eye injury. She explained the eye's healing process and instructed me as to what activities to avoid (if any) during it's healing time. She followed up a week later to check on its progress and we were both delighted to hear my vision was slowly getting back to normal. She's as kind and thorough as they come, and will take great care of your eyez! read more

I previously had nothing but wonderful experiences with ME and even after moving to Vancouver made the pointed effort to drive the distance because of good service. I either wanted new glasses or to figure out why my current glasses were not fitting right anymore (but I still loved them) - the optical assistant noticed something broken on the temple and said they could be replaced by warranty. Yay. Until I got the new ones. Everything was blurry from the moment I put them on in one eye (after they struggled to pop my lenses from the old and into the new) so I stopped by my local optician's office and had them take a look. The lens was "crazed" which is something caused by stress which frequently happens when lenses are removed. The optician at ME had struggled for a long time to get one lens out before the assistant took over and "had the muscle" to get it. So I went back to show them and boy was I hit with an attitude. "No way did they do that, you must have done something, they've never even seen that before, etc". I stood my ground and finally they relented and said they would replace the lens. LONG story short I got them back with the new lens and there were two horizontal scratches on the lens and clearly no AR coating (which I previously had paid for) plus one temple is floppier than the original broken temple. Not going back to point it out - you're off the hook. You scared me from asking for customer service. Just a warning to new customers not to expect any follow up care to be anything but discouraging and rude. I am sad though because I really appreciated the selections offered at ME. read more

The clinic is small. Not that much choices on frames ( very old styles frames). It takes more than a month for a appointment to see the doctor. Very long waiting time to see the eye doctor because there is only one doctor in the clinic. Doctor is not that professional compared to the doctor in other clinic I had. read more

Chapter 2: I was able to get a hold of Modern Eyez and they placed the correct prescription for me. It came in the mail and I have been seeing fine. Turns out the are always closed on Monday, which is clearly written on their website for store hours, so that was my fault for not reading their store hours before I called but also their fault because I couldn't read store hours because I didn't have any contacts. Chicken and the egg situation I guess. Either way Becky called back after reading my review on here and apologized and asked if there was anything else they could do. I was very impressed that she owned up to my less than pleasant experience. I work in retail and sometimes you get so busy that people are bound to fall through the cracks. The fact that Becky took the time too call me and makes sure I was taken care of was very impressive! This is the best optometrist office i have ever been to. I was traveling to West Linn from out of town. My glasses broke the first day i was in town. I went to modern eyez and they quickly fixed my glasses at no cost. My glasses now fit me like new. The staff were extremely helpful, understanding, and friendly. I wish i did not live 2000 miles away. I would love for them to be my permanent optometrist. read more
