WARNING! Terrible experience here. Don't go here if you have curly hair!!!!! I asked for 4 inches off and he cut off 12 inches. I am so unhappy! I will need to wait years for my hair to be as long as it was. My hair was past my waist and is now barely past my shoulders!!! Kevin went behind my back and grabbed my hair as I was sitting in his chair and next thing I know I hear an electric shaver and he shaved off a LOT of hair then tried evening it out. My hair is curly and thick. It is not straight and will never be even. He was trying to achieve the impossible and what's crazy is one side is longer than the other. All that fuss about evening it out and it's still not somewhat even. So upsetting . I am so angry still that he disrespected what I said and went ahead and did what he thought was best. A warning to all customers with curly hair! This is awful! Just awful! What a horrible way to betray a customer's trust. There's no going back now. It will take YEARS for me to have long hair again. I will never, ever go back and I will warn all I know about this place. You trust a stylist to take care of your hair and follow your simple instructions and they betray you this way. One of if not the fastest haircuts i have ever had. The owner new exactly what i wanted plopped me down and went at it. I was there for maybe 10 minutes in total. If you have curly hair (I have type 2c 3A) do NOT go here for a cut. I did read another post about a butchered curly haired customer, but a friend of mine with straight hair had a gorgeous cut! In my mind I thought, how could they screw up that badly? Gwen proved me wrong. My hair is just awful. I wanted a mid-length shag or lob but she cut the crown way too short! We're talking 3 inches of length left!!!!! I did not have my glasses on so I couldn't see how much she was cutting off. Had I known I would have stopped her. I am wearing a cap until my hair grows out. Gwen can't fix this because there is nothing to cut! If you have straight hair, you'll be just fine and you won't have to wear a hat for the next 6 months! read more

Went in with a bob and ask him for a pixie cut. Showed a picture of a long front pixie cut and long sides... what I got was a hot mess. The top is rounded and crooked he didn't point cut going in he just took it straight across. The sides are short military style the front is short. The whole thing is short. I just left there crying. My hair is so short I can't even get it fixed until it grows out. I don't suggest going to this place for anything more than a trim so he has something to follow. He he would of just been honest and said he couldn't cut it I would of just got a graduated bob. But even then my hair cut is crooked. I'm so embarrassed to go to work with this haircut. read more

I went in for my 1st mini-keratin treatment and with my thick hair & long wavy hair, $95 is hard to beat when you are quoted $200+ for the Mini or Express Keratin. I would give them 4 1/2 stars if I could ONLY because these two people (Kevin & Gwen) belong in a nicer-looking salon. Great location, but could be better. Both are very personable & just terribly sweet. The other thing I liked was that after the blowout, Kevin really wanted to trim my hair & I understood. Ever since I cut it short, my husband freaks out so I get slow trims and hope to not inflict any extra damage until the next trim. He asked to just snip the ends and that made a nice, uniform look to my ends. I am satisfied with the amount of frizz that was removed and I bought the Keratin shampoo/conditioner. Kevin also gave me his card and told me to call if I had any questions. He has been doing hair for 25 years-mostly in CA. He explained every step and reinforced what not-to-do to keep up my Keratin treatment for the usual 6-8 weeks. Also gave me an amazing price on the Brazilian Blowout! I would give him 5-stars alone. I did a walk in and wanted long layers and side bangs. The guy cutting my hair stopped when another customer came in and told me to move over to another chair to blow dry. After that I said I think you forgot to give me side bangs. He came back to cut my bangs and did them waaaaay too short. When I asked him multiple times to blend it, he said he couldn't because I have a cowlick, then hairsprayed the goofy short bangs down to try and fix it. In desperation before I had to attend a funeral out of town I googled the top salons in Cedar Park. Modern came up and I was a virtual walk-in. Let me first start off by saying the stylist I saw was Gwen who is very sweet. That being said this is hands down the worst hair experience I've ever had. I will say I have thick hair which is a challenge for most so when my sister vouched for Gwen I thought it was worth a try. The fact that it was in a old strip mall kind of made me nervous, the fact that it looks like a nail salon also had me wondering, and the sweltering heat due to no AC should have been the final red flag but like I said Gwen was so nice. I went in wanting to cut my long hair shoulder length and to lighten my ombré hair color. Oh boy... My hair was bleached to the max ALL over!! My hair was white and yellow when we went to wash it out. I was immediately in panic mode, what happen to my once beautiful hair?!? Gwen assured me the toner would fix the look and everything would be fine by the time she styled it. WRONG!! My once beautiful hair was now red and orange!! I told her I hated it and we had to fix it. She kept trying to convince me it was "beautiful" I literally had to tell her to quit playing!! I told her I would need to come back the next day since it was 8pm to get it fixed. She initially told me she was too booked to get me back in to fix it. I told her I can't walk the streets looking like carrot top! She finally agreed to fix it the following day. Upon my return i told her to just dye it back dark brown as I didn't think more toner would help. She did not want to and was adamant the toner would work. The new toner did not work it went from awful to bad so yes a step towards better but still orange and ugly. Anyhow I paid $170, spent 6 hours in 2 days just to have to come home and box dye my hair so I could show my face in the streets again!! read more

I love Lynn- she does great work on my hair. I do admit- they once turned my hair a pink tint but promptly fixed it. I had not even seen it yet they just saw it wasn't right and died it again. Thats the one time I had a bad experience- and I have had my hair done there a few dozen times. I really hate it when I am impressed with a place and then write them a raving review only to go back a second time to be completely disappointed. On my first visit I took my BFF to get a haircut...actually a make over. It was in the middle of the week in the middle of the day. It was a great experience. We were the only one's there and service is prompt and they did a great job. This time I went to get my hair done. I called and made an appt. on Friday at 330pm. I got there and the place was packed. She didn't even begin working on my hair until 430pm. One whole hour after my appointment. The entire time I was in the chair she was trying to get to buy a million other services. I was getting my hair relaxed and she asked if I wanted my hair cut, an extra conditioning treatment, or dye. UGH! Just relax my hair I've already been here an hour! The whole time I was there Lynn was screaming in my ear across the salon to other people working there as well as pissed off customers. After she washed the relaxer out she started cutting my hair. I didn't realize it at first so by the time I saw what was happening it was too late and she ended up finishing a 1/4 inch trim. She blow dried my hair and then flat ironed it flat, after I asked her to curl it so it would be wavy. She didn't listen to a word I said. My hair looked terrible and then I got to the cash register and she charged me 40 for the relaxer and 15 for the hair cut I told her twice I didn't want. DON'T GO HERE! One good experience is not worth the posiblility of such a bad one costing you 55 dollars. read more

Go see Gwen! I was pressed for time and they were able to fit me in. On a whim I decided to get a pretty dramatic change for my long thick wavy hair. Most people have no clue what to do with thick hair. Turns out she's incredibly experienced, worked and trained for years at Aveda and spent a great amount of time on the details, employing various techniques to achieve the haircut I showed her. She took the time to show me additional pictures of similar cuts to make sure I knew what it would look like from every angle and for her to understand exactly what I wanted. If you're used to going somewhere where they just use the same scissors, give you the same couple of layers, using the same technique, you'll be glad to find out that this stylist has the expertise to create anything you can envision and make suggestions for how it would fit your face best. The salon is simple, unassuming and clean. Most importantly, the salon has talented and seasoned stylists. I used to go to Aveda salons and 100$ later I would leave happy. I went into this salon to have a professional straigtening. Lin advised me that I should have a relaxer put on my hair . She completely burned my hair to the point where I had to have it all cut off. She obviously has no knowledge of the hair relaxation process or how long the treatment should stay in a person's hair based on their texture. I'm pretty sure cosmetology 101 would have laid out the hair relaxation process. The treatment was so bad that had chemical burns on my scalp, ears and neck. My hair which was past my shoulders when I walked in the door is now cut into a SHORT stacked bob...which was NOT what I wanted! This has completely changed the look that I was going for and the image that I wanted for myself. It took me 3 1/2 years to grow my hair out to my desired length, which had been obtained prior to my visit with Lin. She packed on goop and told me not to wash it for 24 hours. I didn't realize how bad my hair was until then. She did not feel she needed to tell me that she damaged my hair and she still charged me for it. I am EXTREMELY ANGRY that I no longer have long hair. It will take many years to grow it back out. I still have damage even though my hair is so short now. It will probably take about 3 months just to get all the damaged hair grown out enough to cut it all out. After this happened to me, I did some research. I found out that a relaxer is not appropriate for my hair type at all. As the PROFESSIONAL, she should know what should and should not be allowed for a person with my hair texture. She should never be allowed to do this to anyone ever again. read more
