I seriously cannot say enough good things about Oz!! This was my first balayage appointment with him and I'm in awe. He made me feel so comfortable from the second I sat down, answered all my random questions, taught me so much about my hair, and wasn't afraid to tell me what would actually look best (which I clearly needed). I trusted him, and WOW.. my hair turned out even better than I imagined. Somehow he gave me exactly what I wanted.. and then made it even prettier. On top of being insanely talented, he's just an awesome human. We laughed the entire appointment, had the best conversations, and the hours flew by. It felt like hanging out with a friend who also happens to be ridiculously good at doing hair. If you're thinking about booking with Oz, just do it. I had a very disappointing experience at this salon. I'm from Dallas and was visiting Austin for a friend's engagement. I booked a hydrafacial for 2 PM, but when the service started, one of their tools wasn't working -- something they clearly failed to check beforehand. Since my face was already cleaned and I couldn't get another appointment that day (the event was the next morning), I was left with no choice but to switch to their "signature facial," which was done manually. Let's be honest -- manual facials can't match the effectiveness of machine-based ones, and the results reflected that. To make things worse, the staff -- including the manager -- showed no accountability. No apology, no discount, nothing. I was charged the full price for a service I didn't even originally book due to their equipment failure. That's just unacceptable. As if that wasn't enough, I also accidentally left my chain at the salon. I called when they reopened, but no proper update was given. I even sent a friend in person and was told they didn't find anything. And then they dont want to talk to me in a call, then i told my friend to ask for a refund they said we are done we cant help you with refund or anything. Again, no courtesy or sense of responsibility. Overall, I felt disrespected and extremely dissatisfied with both the service and customer care. I do not recommend this place -- especially if you value professionalism and basic courtesy. read more

Very cute and welcoming atmosphere. The signature cocktails are a detail that really make the salon standout as a cool environment. I had a drastic haircut with Lauren and she did a wonderful job. My hair looked great and I enjoyed my time there, which I believe to be as important as the outcome of my hair. My partner had his hair cut by Ava, he has a mullet style and he's been two two other places lately that have not understood exactly what he wanted and he left without feeling good about the results or their understanding. He said Ava was very communicative about what she was doing and did amazing on the consultation to be sure they were on the same page. She also recommended a body wave, which he will be going back for because she really established trust. Let me tell you the adventure of my DIY hair story that was saved by Eva Liberty at The Hive Salon, Leander. I had dark brown hair with box dyed red hair that had grown out. I decided I would try to do home bleach and DIY it. I could do it myself, right? Ha! Big mistake, Huge Mistake! As you can see from my before pictures of my hair I could have easily hidden among the Orangutans at the zoo because our hair texture and color matched! I showed up at my appointment, embarrassed and doubtful that I could go from the star attraction at the zoo to a work zoom call. Eva was so kind and patient. She looked at my Pinterest hair goals, talked about the options and what would be done. At the end of my visit my hair looked and felt 110% better. I decided to try the Hive because I am looking for a new stylist. The salon is very modern and clean and bright. Taylor was available. She was very sweet and friendly. We talked about what I wanted and looked at some pictures. I let her know I wanted a good trim and partial highlights. My trim turned out ok, but my bangs look a little weird, I think she had trouble with my widows peak, and my bangs stuck out a little. As far as the highlights, my hair looked a little lighter than before but I wanted much more contrast. It looks ashy and almost gray. This took almost four hours, I've never spent so long in a salon for highlights and a trim. The price was high, but now a days that's not unusual. Like I said, Taylor was very nice, but my search for a stylist continues. read more

This is the best salon in Leander hands down! I adore Ava and she has my hair looking great. I usually go in for root touch ups but I've gotten a great haircut too and I love it. I have a 9 year old that has never liked getting his hair cut. Lauren was so kind and listened to him as he shared how he wanted his hair to look and worked with him to make sure he was comfortable throughout the process. He left beaming and loving his new look. I had the worse experience with The Hive. I'm never going back to this place again. The first bad sign was when one of their stylists made an appointment with me and never showed up. Then, out of the blue they called me to let me know that I had an appointment with them, and then, because I had no recollection of the said appointment, they sent me a $110 invoice for "no show". When, the sucker that I am, I paid for the invoice and made another appointment with Alex. She had the nerve to charge me $220 for a root touch up. What a thief! What a f$%&&* rip off! Be careful dealing with them. Their business model is dishonest and shady. Don't ever give them your credit card number. IF they send you an invoice, don't pay and report them to the Texas Attorney General's office!!!!! Never again!!!! read more
