I came to Deep Roots for a corrective appointment after a previous color service elsewhere left my hair uneven, too light in certain areas, and generally not in a condition I felt comfortable with. Mahshid had a last-minute opening, and I booked it because I needed an experienced corrective-color specialist. Mahshid's technical skill was clear from the beginning. She quickly identified what needed to be corrected and explained the plan in a way that made sense. She did a root melt, added lowlights, adjusted the tone, and cut my hair so everything blended naturally again. The difference was significant, and the final result looked intentional, full of dimension, and much healthier. Sophie supported the entire process by keeping everything organized, assisting hands-on, checking in with me regularly, and coordinating each step so the appointment ran smoothly. Her attention to detail made a longer service feel so manageable. Ella was also assisting and shadowing and she was so sweet and kind, besides being super gentle while combing and blow drying my hair. I'd also like to acknowledge Nia, who did my consultation the week before. She gave me an honest assessment and encouraged me to take the opening with Mahshid since her own next availability was farther out. That transparency helped me make the right decision. I arrived feeling unsure about whether my hair could be corrected without more drastic measures, and I left with a result that restored both the color and my confidence, for real. I cried at the start from the disappointment on my hair, but then had happy tears at the end for the unbelievable results. This was a straightforward, professional experience with a team that clearly knows corrective work well. I did pay for my service, so the reason I'm writing this review is only because their work truly deserves so much recognition! I have tried to love this cut. I've tried styling it differently, I've tried different hair textures, different products, but nothing can hide the weird thick curtain of a layer that I am now stuck with for probably about the next 6 months. The stylist I worked with is very sweet, but that unfortunately doesn't change the fact that this is the worst haircut I've ever had. I blamed myself for a while because I did ask for something reminiscent of a razor cut lob, but no razor cut I've been able to find a picture of has layers quite like this. I have basically one bottom layer and one top layer that starts over the ears and is very short at that point and then gets longer towards the back. The section over the ears is very thick as well and has resulted in the bottom layer in that area being very thin and having an issue with gapping if the front is not perfectly curled to hide it. I included a picture of the cut styled at its best and you can see there's still a gap between the very front section and the rest of my hair. I am so beyond disappointed with this cut. I've been pretty depressed about it honestly, as almost no amount of styling makes it look presentable. The layers are so out of control and not integrated at all, that it mostly just looks ridiculous unless I pin them up. Looking forward to some time in summer when they're grown out. read more

Well guys and gals... I finally got a day again where I could get away without my 2 year old clinging to my leg, so decided to treat myself to a long overdue salon day. I am sad to say the service was inconsistent with my past experience. I was so excited to return and get my hair "summer ready." I showed pictures and thoroughly explained what I wanted only to have my wishes ignored. I asked to be more ashy blonde and brightened up and that did not happen - at all. My hair was done in half the time it was done before and felt rushed. On top of everything I wasn't even asked if I wanted a trim (which I had thought I requested when I made the appointment a month in advance) and when I realized it I was told it was too late. I've always been told to wait until your hair is dry and you can see the color, but I wasn't even shown what my hair looked like after it was dry, much less asked how I felt about it. I am very disappointed - and now after dropping a small fortune (even more than my previous appt when I received a trim), Im also apprehensive of going back. read more
