I won't be back. I came in yesterday for a pedicure since I was in the area. It started out great because they have a huge selection of OPI nail polish (my favorite). Their prices were also decent & average. A spa pedicure was $18 and a regular manicure was $12. I opted for a pedicure only. I asked for my nails to be cut short, but the lady insisted my nails were short... they weren't. She ended up listening to me. She didn't file or buff my nails properly & I left with a ridge in a nail. And today, that ridge resulted in a piece of my nail polish coming off. I've never had my toe nails chip the day after a pedicure... that's ridiculous. Not coming back. read more

I will definitely be returning! *** update: I went in for my Nexgen mani when Lynn was out sick. I was the last appt on a Friday night and apparently the girl who did my nails was in a rush to get home. She was careless and ruined my nails. After I went back and had them taken off it was evident she went too far when filing the gel powder off and now it looks like I had acrylics on my nails. They are so thin and constantly breaking. Who knew that landing a job in Simi Valley would lead me to try out a new nail salon nearby and I must say: Today's experience with Modern has been the BEST out of all the nail places I've been trying for so long! My nails have gotten so weak because of all the acrylic I've been using, but today KALVIN eased me into trying a new product called NEXGEN. It was THE coolest & quickest process I've had done with getting a gel manicure. TRY IT OUT. It's a time effective, powder based solution where they dip your finger nails in the colored powder of your choice in between clear coats of polish. My nails dried from the final clear top coat in under 5 minutes. Kalvin took his time and answered any questions I had about the product. They are knowledgeable and precise when it comes to nails. I am in the beauty industry and going to nail salons can be brutal. Lynn is so professional and on top of proper cleanliness and protocol. We've been here before and it's been great!! But this last time, I was running late for my appointment and called well ahead to let them know and they said 30 mins later was great. We showed up and they had us sit in the water for 30 mins before they came over. By then the water was cold and there was zero acknowledgment for the delay. They gave us no choice in the pedicure package (we'd been waiting and saving to treat ourselves to the top package) and gave us the bottom package without choice. Then it was very rushed through. We had 130pm appointments that were pushed to 2pm. We sat until 230pm and then were rushed out by 250pm. It was very clear and obvious that had overbooked themselves yet made no acknowledgment of the delay. It's sad because we liked it there. Really hope it's better next time or we'll have to find somewhere else :( read more

I went to Modern Nail about two weeks ago. It's been YEARS since I had a pedicure but I was in the area and decided to stop by. I saw tub liners and assumed the shop was concerned about hygiene. The ladys were each seated on their stools with what seemed to be like their own tool carts. I was about midway through my pedicure service and had observed the lady using a nail file on my toenails. I couldn't remember if that was part of the process so I kept watching the tv. Well then, I see one of the finger nail techs come over and she grabs that SAME nail file to use on her own client's hands! I was horrified. She used it and came to put it back. Then- the man doing someone else's nails came to the lady's cart to get a clipping tool of some kind and used it on his client's finger nails as well! I couldn't even believe it. What happened to "sanitary" that was on all the other reviews? As if that wasn't enough, I came home feeling like I have an ingrown toe nail or she cut my skin. Either way, it isn't good. I also rubbed a tea tree oil blend all over my feet for a few days after!! Pros: Big selection of nail polish and multiple flat screen tvs for you to watch. They also use tub liners (I have no idea of these actually help at all, lol.) And massage chairs! read more

Came here for a wedding party mani pedi day let me start by saying I checked them out here and it said 10% discount for parties of 5 or more....we had 6 (we had made a reservation but only 5 got in and the 6th had to wait until a spot opened up after the rest of the party was over halfway done) and they did NOT give us a discount in fact I got the deluxe pedicure for $45 which was not at all worth it. It was a normal pedicure with the addition of your foot in a produce bag with parafin wax which was so uncomfortable, then a scrub and cheese grating of your feet along with a hot stone massage which was ok, hot towels on your legs which I was afraid would blister me they were so hot and a "mud mask" which was just soome lotion they let sit for a minute then wiped off. I got a gel pedi on my toes. It came out ok, but when I got home I touched them and they were TACKY! As I thought about it he did not finish them off by wiping them down and cleaning them up, Good thing I had gel finishing wipes at home. I paid $45 for that??? To get home and have to finish my own pedicure? Then I got a french tip Gel mani. Well it has to be the worst one I got. This mani cost $34 and lasted 4 days before a big chunk of the gel got caught in my hair in the shower and snapped off ....really?????? How can they justify charging this much for such shoddy work? I defintiely will not be back her.....for $79 I expected much better than what I got. read more
