This review is for the nail section of the salon. I used to go to Victoria for years, I even left her previous shop to follow her to Modern Nails. For the most part. she always did a great job on my nails, although she was a little slow at times and was sometimes late for my appointments. I texted her to set up an appointment one day and she shared that she was no longer doing nails because she was going back to school. I think that is great, but wouldn't you let your clients know that in advance? I can't imagine my hairstylist or anyone else just leaving their clients high and dry - especially when you have been their client for years and always had a great relationship. There are lots of people who can do great nails in the city, but it's the customer service that sets the great ones a part from the good ones. Had the Groupon for lip blushing. First, she tried to have every conversation with me while my lips were being numbed and insisted I had to text her if I had any questions. Second, she also asked me for what color I wanted... Without having any color palettes to show me while my lips were being numbed, so I couldn't talk. Third, after showing her a picture and making sure that she understood I wanted a mauve, pink, purple sort of color... She ended up doing a lighter color, then went over it with red after I complained, which the red isn't what I desired either. Finally, she did not lip line anything... And there is a line around my lips for not doing so. I literally now have bright red lips, which I hope that actually fade at some point. She was very confrontational when I tried to have a conversation with her about my concerns. She insisted I just had to trust the process... Which, if she actually picked the color that I requested... Maybe my lips would not be so bright red. Also, if she actually had a consultation prior to trying to numb my lips... And rush the process... Then maybe we would not be having this situation. Everything seemed rushed from start to finish. It was very unprofessional. Also, if she would've done the color I selected from the start... Instead of doing a super light color then having to "try to fix it"... Then maybe I would've had the color I wanted. She was honestly just trying to sell more and more throughout the process instead of focusing on what I purchased. Instead of understanding my point of view, she just kept trying to justify her side and refused to listen. I will not go back as I have bright red lips, and I am hoping that my lips actually fade. I recommend going somewhere else for your services and if you want lip blushing... Which is to get the illusion of larger lips, then just go somewhere else. read more

I just love waking up looking younger! The best lashes and they all wonderful and sweet. I have carpal tunnel with nerve damage and can do my eye make up well anymore. I'd recommend to everyone especially people that are losing lashes and sick of wearing mascara. Look youthful or glamorous on any occasion! Alright everyone. I've been waiting to post a review for this place until I was completely sure about my experience with them. Please bear with me as this will be a novel. I bought a Groupon for full lash extensions (usually $200) and got them done a month ago. Twee, the "lash technician", laid me down and started working on my lashes while on the phone complaining about a purchase she made online. I just laid there listening to her conversation and allowed her work her magic (mind you, I've never gotten eyelash extensions before, so I wasn't sure what the proper procedures were to have them put on). I think it took maybe 45 minutes to an hour to do, but during the process, the glue kept getting into my eye and burned like hell. I just kept my mouth shut because she was busy multitasking to even notice. After the session, I had some lashes fall off immediately, twisting around, hanging from the ends of my lashes, weren't aligned to my lash line, and noticed there were clusters glued to one lash, or even my eyelid. I did some more research on eyelash extensions, and everything this place wasn't supposed to do, they did. Also, they didn't use any tools to place the synthetic lash onto my natural lash and instead used their fingers and stuck them on like I was a kindergarten project. They were so bad, I went to another lash salon to have them taken off, because these people are NOT lash certified. Please do not, I repeat, DO NOT go to this place for lashes, as they are not credible technicians for it. I've learned my lesson the hard way and now my natural lashes are ruined (hoping they grow back to the way they used to be). I really should've checked the reviews before buying the Groupon... I just got my gel l manicure done and needless to say I will not be going back there ever again... They didn't have a lot of color selections so I opted for the French manicure... First they file my nails all uneven which is very noticeable and the lady seemed like she barely cared because even the white lines were uneven on some of my nails. On top of that, she asked me flat out for $5 additional for tip I guess? I just said ok and walked out. Bottom line.. This place wasn't as horrible as everyone is saying it was. I went last Friday and a lady named Twee did my extra lashes. Note on her: very nice and friendly! I originally had my eyelash extensions placed in Korea a couple weeks ago. Since it was my first time and the place in Korea came HIGHLY recommended (family friend), it was AWESOME. The place in Korea was one lash at a time but I teared a LOT-- maybe because it was the first time. HOWEVER at this place, I don't know if Twee did it one lash at a time, but I didn't tear one bit and guess what? It looks great. Since I only needed a touch up-- it took no time to do it. Maybe my eyes grew immune to the glue or the fumes?? The reason why I didn't give a 4 star rating is because I don't know if it was one lash at a time. If you're going to a good place too, not all the lashes are the same length. The professional should have all different types of lashes to place. I also noticed that my lashes have been falling out a bit faster than the ones I got in Korea (which are still on my eyelids--) I paid $65-- since my original lashes weren't from her. I came here two months ago looking to get eyelash extensions. I saw a promotion online for two things: one, a set of individual lashes for $45 and two, that they offered a student discount for GMU. When I arrive and finally (after waiting an hour for service even after booking my appointment for this time days prior) get service, I ask about the $45 deal. Twee, the lash tech, told me that that deal was only for a half set and was trying hard to convince me to not get it (even though I called ahead asking what the deal meant and was told that it meant a full individual set). She told me a set was $99. I am a college student and I do not have money like that to spend on materialistic things. So, I asked about their student discount. Twee said that the $99 was already a reduced price and so she wouldn't apply their student discount to the procedure. I gave in, and accepted the price under the presumption that the lashes would look good and be worth the price. I lay on the table and she finishes my eyes very quickly -- 20 minutes for both eyes! I could feel that she was rushing and she spent significantly more time on one eye than the other, but I still trusted the process. 20 minutes later I get up and look at myself in the mirror. They looked atrocious, and before I lied on the table I emphasized how I wanted the most natural set of lashes and these were very big and dramatic and not what I wanted to pay for. She asked what I thought, and I was honest. I told her how I didn't like them and how they weren't natural and I asked if they could be fixed. She told me that they looked wonderful (which, by the way, her opinion doesn't matter because it's not on her eyes) and just told me to come back in a few days if I really didn't like them. So, I give in and pay her. Except, I paid her via Venmo, so who knows if they are paying taxes on that income! I go home and my eyes feel very very sore. I thought maybe it was like getting your nails done, how it will feel sore after the first time. I looked it up on google and every source said that my eyes should not be hurting. I couldn't close my eyes or even blink without them being in pain. It was miserable, so the next day I try to call but they are closed. So, being in the miserable pain that I was in, I resorted to taking them off by myself, leaving me with extremely damaged and sparse eyelashes. My self-esteem drastically dropped, which is the exact opposite effect of what should have happened in this experience. Within the next week, I return and I speak with Twee. I show her my horribly damaged eyelashes and ask for a refund. I tell her she can keep the tip, but I just want the $99 refund. I don't want to take money that is directly hers, but I did not think it was too much to ask for the $99 back. She could just Venmo me the amount back since that is how she accepted the money in the first place. She urges me to let her try again and I told her how much pain I was in before and how I don't want my lashes to be damaged again and just want them to grow back in peace. After pushing for my full refund some more, I tell her even half of a refund would be okay, I just wanted my money back. She flat out refuses and offers to redo my eyelashes for free which is not going to help my horribly damaged eyelashes. So, I leave an extremely dissatisfied customer. I went here last minute with friends because no one else in the area had last minute openings. The owner said that they were standing around and we could come ASAP but this was a lie. The owner and one worker were working on people's nails so we waited over 30 minutes before getting our nails done. Their nail polish selection was bad they had $1 nail polishes out. The owner paid no attention to painting my nails and missed spots. The nail polish took over a hour to dry so when assumed dry they were not and got messed up. Note: this review is for a manicure and pedicure received several months ago through a Groupon. This business did not have a Yelp page at the time. They did not honor the terms of the Groupon. The deal was for a Spa Deluxe Manicure ($35 value for $17) and 10 percent off any additional service. I did not get everything that supposedly came with that manicure, so it wasn't worth $35. The pedicure I got was $24, but they only took off $2 (and I had to argue to even get that much). The employee and the supposed owner (more on that in a minute) said that the 10 percent discount was only on services totaling $80 or more, which was not what the Groupon said. I know it was only 40 cents, but I should not have had to argue over the terms (and math!). I spoke on the phone with someone claiming to be the owner to try to clarify the terms; later, the owner said she was out of town the day I went there, so I couldn't have been talking to her. Well, the salon employee and the person on the phone both told me I was speaking to the owner, so I have no idea what that's about. The pedi was average, but the mani wasn't very good. My skin felt nice afterwards, but my nails were rough and had bubbles in the polish. As she does on Yelp, the owner responded to the negative reviews on the Groupon deal discussion board with passive-aggressive apologies at best and accusations of lying at worst. The other four customers that came in during my manicure were all there for lashes. I honestly wasn't thrilled with the skills displayed with the tech, but if she had decent product to work with, it wouldn't have been so bad. I actually had to file places where there were ridges and snags from where cotton was still sticking to once I got back into my car. Just a really bad manicure. My daughter gave me a gift certificate for a spa pedicure last year. I called them to make an appointment and was told to come on in. I got there and there was only 1 nail person and she was starting a pedicure. It turns out that the owner/manager wasn't even in the salon when she told me to come in. She had been having calls forwarded to her cell phone and was in her car when she told me to come in! I didn't tell my daughter because it was such a thoughtful gift. If they tell you to come on in they almost always have someone available and if not they are very apologetic. I've been getting my nails done a lot and this is my first time visit here as my family member recommended this place to me. They multi-task and get things done way too fast, so that is probably why their manicure service is not meticulous. Instead of apologizing to me, the technician told me that she's the best in this nail salon and had no issues so far. Even after paraffin treatment (which I received in a waiting area and got paraffin on my leggings), my hands were rough due to some leftover cuticles and dead skin pieces near my nails. No hand massages either... When I got $10 manicure service, it was better than this. I was very disappointed. Like most of these reviews already, I purchased a groupon for a full set of lashes. I had read most of the reviews on Yelp and went in knowing it was a risk to get my lashes done here because of the many negative reviews, but since it was my first time I didn't want to pay $200+ elsewhere. The lady took my name and number and said that I needed to call back later in the week to confirm my appointment, otherwise they would automatically cancel it. I thought that was an odd practice to assume your customers will not make it to their appointment unless they call to confirm, but went with it since I did read another review about it. A few days before my appointment, I called to confirm my appointment. The lady who picked up did not understand what I was doing and kept trying to book me a new appointment. I told her over and over again I was told I need to confirm my appointment and this was not a new appointment. Big communication and language barrier here, but she finally got it and hung up. (I doubt she didn't checked her schedule to confirm). The nail salon is small and tucked away in the back corner of a shopping mall center off of Main Street. I walked in around 5:20PM and said I had an appointment at 5:30PM and was told to take a seat and someone will be with me shortly. I waited forever about 45 minutes until I was called back. Even though this was my first time getting lashes done, I had many co-workers who have had this done before and expected it to take at least 2 hours. I was very surprised that it only took 45 minutes. I assume that they do not use individual lashes, but lashes in cluster of 2 or 3 which speeds up the process dramatically. The process was a bit uncomfortable, the glue did burn my eyes a bit throughout the entire 45 minutes. Afterwards they ask you to wait with your eyes shut for another 5 minutes to ensure the glue has dried and the fumes from the glues dissipate before trying to open your eyes. The lashes were very big and obvious, which is what I asked for (versus the more "natural" look). For the money, I thought they did an okayjob. Of course, these lashes are not the best quality nor is the service they provide, but for the price of these lashes, they do the job. (Def would never pay their full asking price though) Not sure if I would come back again or recommend this place, but am satisfied in the end with my first time here. read more

Horrible! Beware! The first trip to this spa was in June 2015. The quiet technician did an average job. My refill was done in Buckhead area of Atlanta by +1 (971) 340-3356 (Excellent lashes!!). My refill on second trip to Modern lash Nail and Spa was simply horrible (8/7/15). The technician glued every single lash directly to my lid. I left to eat and returned to have her fill in area closer to inner eye that she neglected. She proceeded to glue lashes in clumps above and below lash line that I did not notice until this morning. There is visible glue underneath lash line on one eye. That same row of lashes has 2 lashes swaying below lash line that I asked her to fix but she clumped 2 more lashes on that I had to remove this morning. I paid for individual lashes, not clumps. The same technician sold me artificial lash conditioner on second trip back. My daughter asked why the box had so many prints on it. I opened it this morning and noticed that it appeared to be used. It was substantially below fill line. I'm so disgusted! I had my shellac manicure and pedicure done on first. It was subpar. read more

VERY hard to book an appointment. I called after purchasing a living social voucher for eye lash extensions and the lady over the phone said she could get me in on Saturday (I was calling on a Thursday) The woman over the phone then proceeded to ask if I was going to pay when I got there and I told her no I was using a LS voucher. She kept repeating it was going to be the same price and that I couldn't use my voucher over the weekend even though in the fine print there are no limitations for weekend use. Suddenly she said she has to call me back....and I don't get any call I call back a few hours later and asked about my appointment and she tells me they are all booked for Saturday, even though she took my name down for a 4:00 appt earlier? She told me there was nothing she could do and she would call me if anything opened up for the weekend. Safe to say I won't be getting a call for an appointment. read more

My firt time here and they have treated me soooo well and they were very welcoming!! My deep french tip came out a success and love the color My nails were done by Kay and my Pedi by June! They were sooo friendly and very funny! Will definitely come back! read more
