I came to check out Modern Nails upon my sisters-in-law's recommendation. Based on their experiences and the reviews here, I'm going to assume that maybe I got a new girl doing my nails. I didn't get her name. I liked the airy, open space (like someone had mentioned, you don't feel packed in here) and the ladies were all lovely. There were great little touches like a bottle of water at your seat, tons of gel colors to choose from, and a neck/shoulder massage. The only bad thing was that she cut a couple of my cuticles a little too close, so my ring finger is pink and raw, the corner of my thumb started bleeding while I was there. =( She was working just a tad too fast on them, I guess. So, hence the three stars. Aside from that little injury, the manicure looks great. I also liked the clean tools, clean environment, and the gloves they slip over your hands before you put them under the UV lights. I'll just have to try someone else if I go back! read more

On my first visit they tried to have me use another manicurist even though I had made an appointment with Amy, days before. Amy never identified herself, never greeted me etc. Twice they tried to have me sit in the Pedicure area and use another manicurist. When I refused they made a place for me that wasn't even a station, just laid a towel down next to the register. Meanwhile, they took my nail polish off and soaked my hands in water. It was already 20 minutes past my appointment and still no recognition from Amy. As I sat in the chair with my hands in the bowl of water I glanced around the stations. After my regular salon always seemed to have the "wait 10 minute" response (you waited WAY longer) I decided to gives these guys a try again. I'd used them for pedicures but now that I do acrylics I need different services. They are great!!!! I'll use them from now on, an appointment means you get in! I have been looking for a good nail salon since I moved to the area in June from LA. I've tried about 4 places before finally finding Modern Nails. I couldn't be happier with the whole experience! From the bottle of water offered to the stress melting neck and shoulder massage, everything was above and beyond my expectations. As for the actual manicure and pedicure--they're perfect! I chose a super dark color for my toes- the kind that is easy to mess up. But it looks awesome. After applying the polish, the woman that did my pedi spent at least 5 min with a paint brush and polish remover to make sure there were no mistakes. Lisa prepped my pedi and did my entire mani. The salon has nice soothing music in the background, not loud TV's, which was nice; very relaxing. They are very clean and sanitize everything they use, while each person gets their own tools for their services. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a "nailaholic" I've been going to the two same people two places to get my nails done for years and am very particular about who I get my nails done by. I'm in northern Cali for the summer and simply stumbled upon this place while driving past. I looked at the ratings and thought why not! I went in with subpar expectations and walked away very impressed! Kim did my nails, and despite walking in shortly before their closing time, she took her time, suggested colors and tried different sparkles on my nails to get the look I wanted. The first time I came I set up an appointment a week ahead. When I got there I was told to wait 20 minutes an hour passed and was still waiting. I was already irritated but still gave them a chance and came back another two times. I had gone back for another fill and color change. I choose a light pink color and the next day they were yellow. No I didn't use no chemical products my sister and boyfriend noticed the change right away. I called and explained to the owner and she said she would fix it. I went in and they fixed it and was told to pay $15.00 for a color change. I did but was the last time they lost my business and will not be recommending them. Worst experience ever. I strongly recommend this place, the staff were super nice!!! I went in during my lunch break I had informed them that I only had 40 min all together but they were able to do it within 30 min and did a great job with it. I loved how one of the staff was honest enough to ask another staff member to do my nails because she wasn't comfortable of doing it within a short time frame. Sadly, this place has changed ownership. I came by yesterday to have my gel nail polish removed and I don't think I will be back. The decorations are gone. The fun personality of the other girls is gone. This place lacks personality now. I didn't find the staff overly friendly. I don't think I'd come back here to get my nails done. Always so professional, neither of them ever mentioned to me (a long time client) that they were pursuing the American Dream of entrepreneurship (after Nancy became a U.S. Citizen) Having worked for many salons prior to opening Modern Nails, Nancy and Amy are providing great customer service in a bright and clean, quiet shop in a central Morgan Hill location off Main and Hale Ave. I had the best pedicure I've had in YEARS, and loved the newer equipment they used for the rough soles of my feet. I had a shellac manicure too, and my nails look great. I'm so happy a friend found out about Modern Nails, and it was great to get to spend time with Nancy and Amy again too. I am so impressed with Modern Nails! I called for an appointment to get a pedicure (a Friday and the day before a major holiday, no less) expecting to be told they were full, but they accommodated me right away. The woman offered a manicure as well, so I said sure, why not! The salon itself looks like most others I've come across both in California and everywhere else - nestled inside a small strip mall. The inside is your basic setup - a row of pedicure chairs and a few stations for nails. There also appears to be rooms for waxing/other services near the back. Small, but very clean. A gentleman was walking around the salon and offering a bottle of water to each customer - a nice touch! I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and was seated right away. I'm a runner and my feet were in pretty bad shape after missing my last few pedicures, so I chose the $45 pedicure that included paraffin wax...uh-mazing! The woman who did my pedicure was very quiet, but did an EXCELLENT job. I don't think I've ever had a pedicure where they massaged my legs and feet as long as she did. She was meticulous in each step and always asking me if the temperature was comfortable. So sweet! Another woman started my shellac manicure during my pedicure, which I'd never experienced before but it was fantastic. It saved me an additional hour of having to sit there, plus I felt like a celebrity. ;) My manicure was equally as great. The polish is painted on flawlessly. I can tell it was done correctly and will last me a long time. I requested a glitter overlay and she asked for my input several times on if I wanted it to be more glittery which I really appreciated. And holy smokes, she gave me the best little neck/shoulder massage/hot towel treatment at the very end. I was sad I had to get up and drive home, as I just wanted to curl up and take a nap, lol. Basically, Modern Nails has everything I look for in a good nail salon. Clean facility & equipment: check. Friendly employees: check. Variety of services: check. hated this place. everything went fine she was too rough while doing them, and was putting to much powder on them, which i could tell because id gotten powder done before. I thought everything was okay untill towards the end she asked if I wanted the gel which would "make them shinier and last longer" When she was done with the gel she asked me to put my hands in the UV light and one of my nails wasnt dry and she smeared it and all she did was put a top clear coat on it like WTF ARE YOU DOING? i said ok maybe it doesnt look that bad when i was done i gave her my debit card to pay and she didnt even know how to work her atm machine because I had to do it for her. Another girl was doing my little sisters nails while mine were being done and they spoke to each other in there language, which I find disrespectful in a way. when i walked out the door I took a look at my nails, NAVY BLUE. what the hell? I HATE navy blue. I went back and told her she said "oh, no, no I do this to a lot of people, comes out fine." so i said "no, this looks blue outside,come see" so we walked outside and she saw them her response was "no, i dont see blue,l see black" I asked my sister and mom, i was right they were blue. so i said "alright ill come back tomorrow then" She then murmured something to a vietnamese man (in viet) and started laughing her ass off. This is the best place to get nails, toes, and wax! I have been going to these ladies for almost 4 years and they have only gotten better. Even though I didn't think it was possible. I have tried to find some where else as good closer to my home. I gave up so I drive from Hollister to get my nails done. My Mom drives from Prunedale to get pampered by them. I've been to so many nail salons in Morgan Hill but I always come back to Modern Nails. The environment is very calming but Tammy and the employees make everything happy. They take their time doing your nails to make sure you're happy. When I got a pedicure, they offered a lot for the price and did it very well. I went to another hair salon where they did the callus treatment with the drill and it cut my skin but when I did it here they got off a lot of my callus but I also didnt feel anything. Tammy also does really nice full sets and won't let you go until it looks perfect! read more

Modern Nails was a recommendation of my friend and fellow Yleper Heather K. Her nails always look great so I decided to give it a try after moving to South County. The attention and service I received was great. I wanted to see how my nails did after the fact before writing a review. They are fantastic!!!!! I hate going to a new place and your nails look old and worn out a week after you get them done...well that is not what you get here. I am starting my third week and my nails good.
