This place has bad reviews for a reason. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Modern Nails. I walked in at 11am and was told to come back at 12pm for my pedicure. I returned at 12pm, I waited another hour, but my pedicure didn't finish until 2:30pm! That's a 2.5 hour wait for a service that should have taken much less time. I was looking for a local spot to get my nails done and I had read some of the reviews, which indicated that this place was legit. I was wrong. I almost walked out with gel polish all around my fingers (both hands) so I told Mary that they needed to be cleaned up. She ended up taking the polish off and repainting them, and still this... I went in on Saturday and this picture was taken on Wednesday! For $30 gel fill I would have expected the polish to last through a full week AT LEAST! The Asian lady asked me if I wanted a design on my nails as well, I shook my head no and continued to describe how I wanted her to polish every individual nail. I had to mix two colors together to match the color that is currently on my toes on four nails, on my index finger; a a slanted french tip in mint green with a glitter top coat over the index finger and on the top of my pinky finger. MIND YOU, NO DESIGN. JUST GLITTER A TOP COAT. Everyone in the shop began to rant and rave about how beautiful my nails looked, and as I went to go pay I asked how much everything had finally came out to. The owner then observed my nails and told me $25, UHM... ARE YOU SERIOUS ?! -___- i asked why and she begin to explain, saying that "I used too many polishes", but then saw the irritated ass look on my face and then proceeded to haggle and drop the price down to $23. This bitch had me fucked all the way up. THEN, she had the nerve to look back down at my nails and raise the price back up when she saw the two fingernails with glitter on the top of them, christening that as a "design" Uh no, a glitter top coat is not a design, sweetheart. If you didn't put out no shit that requires an airbrush or more glue because you're about to put jewels, bows on my shit, I do not have a "design". My experience at Modern Nails had a great beginning. I walked in and both nail techs were available, so they both worked on my nails. They complimented me and were very sweet, but they didn't achieve the shape I wanted. They attempted but couldn't do it. Some of my nails look okay but the other ones weren't filed right etc. When it was time to paint my nails, they came out so sloppy and this nail tech was bragging to me of 17 years experience and I think in 17 years you should be able to paint nails or at least clean them up correctly. The worst customer service I've ever received at a nail salon in my life! The manager does not take accountability for poor work and charges you to fix mistakes she made. Side note: It's not about the money it's the principle. I will pay for service, but when I have to return 3 times in the span of 3 weeks to get my gel polish fixed, and broken nails that are chipping on the sides because you're drilling my natural nail instead of soaking them as I requested, becomes a issue greater than money. I sincerely believe the manger is jealous of T's work, because people prefer to get their services done by Ms. T. I asked her why she was so hostile and yelling for no reason. At that moment she wasn't the person providing the service the third time I arrived yet she made a scene and began badgering me... this lady is emotionally unstable. I refuse to get harassed when I'm paying for a service. So I left! If you go to this salon ask for "T" otherwise Mary will lure you in and bite when she has you vulnerable and cornered. She will begin working on your nails and refuse to finish because she is upset if you are not satisfied with her work. She doesn't want anyone else fixing her work. She does NOT paint well at all, and gets frustrated if you correct her. Be cautious and careful here folks!!! If you are not confrontational then don't go to Mad Mary!!! [Overdue review] I made an appointment for a stiletto full set after hearing a couple of my cousins friends say this salon does a good job especially if you like designs. My appointment was for 2pm on Friday, I got there at 1:45 since I was running some errands. When I got there all the nail techs had a client. I was greeted and ask what I wanted to have done, in which I told her I had an appointment at 2, the woman in the front station had told me to pick a color then have a seat and she would be with me soon. I chose my color then say down and opened up some of there nail design catalogs (which they have a lot to choose from). While I sat I noticed how ghetto this salon is. They clients are mainly young and got kids running all around taking up all the seats so paying customers can't sit. The decor is very simple. Yellow and brown and a client picture collage area. So 2pm struck and I noticed none of their clients have washed they hands yet, (no where near done). I still waited patiently. 15 minutes later someone gets up to wash their hands. No one says anything to me. 30 minutes late, I finally get a table and the older lady with glasses asks what I want to have done (in a rude voice). (-1 star) I told her stiletto and she started gluing tips on and then cutting them to my desired length. She glued 2 tip on crooked, I told her and she tried to deny it. ( hello I can f**kn see!) She re-glued them because I told her to but she wasnt happy. She then started prepping my nails for the acrylic. She filed my nail bed too much. After the acrylic she filed them to the shape I liked but it wasn't what I wanted. She made them look fat. I wanted narrow. (-2 stars) When it came time to polish and designs I kept it pretty simple with a couple rhinestones and 2 flowers. (Which weren't the nicest). The woman barely spoke to me. Im very anal about my nails and i want them perfect everytime. i used to get a pedicure there but after having them done a few times, i had come to my sense's to know that they SUCK at pedi's. it cost an extra $5 just to sit in the spa chair to get a pedicure. I wear fake nails and the two ladies that does them there are good but the wait is very long if there are alot of people. Evan if you call and make an appointment & nail color selections are very limited. Very small place & not all that clean. The ladies are nice but sometimes they get lazy. the waiting area is the same place where you sit to have your nails dry, Kinda annoying. A lot of ghetto people come in there and are very rude to the nice ladies. If you don't like how they did your nails, just tell them nicely and they will fix it. That simple. read more

I love this place!!! It doesn't matter what kind of day i am having the moment i walk in and see both Tran and Mary smile and provide such great customer service i just forget all my problems. For over a year i have not once gone without getting my nails done. The idea of a nail shop is not only to have quality artwork which let me tell you they do, but also enjoy yourself and feel like a queen! (pampering yourself is why we all love to do our nails and our hair and here you get pampered with great art work) Most of time you don't have to wait, but when you do it is definitely worth it:) I will continue to go to modern nails and always recommend them to everyone especially when i go to a store or any public place and i am complimented on my beautiful nails i let them know who is responsible for the beautiful work!
