I walked in the Monday before Christmas with no appointment and they were able to accommodate me right away with a gel manicure and a regular pedicure! I am really into cat eyes right now and they were able to do a really gorgeous champagne cat eye with great attention to detail on preparing the nail bed. I'm a huge fan! So I typically would go to my girl in Irvine for my builder gel nails, and decided to give these guys a shot. It has a nice vibe, but my nails were way too thick, so then I went back to have them redone and in the process I decided to go with a different color , and they charged me another $30 for it, so I ended up paying $80 for a manicure; mind you today is day 5 and one of mu nails already chipped. Needless to say I won't be going back; and I'd suggest you do the same if you don't want thick wavy nails. read more

My 17 year old daughter has gone here 2 times and has had a bad/horrible experience both times. She went this second time because she thought she would give them another chance. The first time she went, at age 15, during the pedicure the woman doing her feet made a VERY rude/mean comment about my daughters appearance! This time, she had gel nails applied and her phone was placed near the UV light. Her phone case melted, and the back of her iPhone 15 shattered under the melted case! I live in town and have tried almost all of the salons in Laguna. This is by far the best one I've been to. I like the timely manner in which its done. I've always been here as a walk in but during times like spring break and holidays I'd recommend you make an appointment as it does get busy sometimes. The place is also very mellow and relaxing. The only thing is that parking may be limited but you've got parking lot #2 in the street across and you can pay cash at the kiosk or card you can also pay online. I love the way Heidi does the nails but Misty, the scheduler, needs to be replaced!!! Today I had a 2:30 appt and I arrive to be told it'll be 45 min until Heidi can start. Totally unprofessional and disrespectful of the clients time. Same thing happened last time I sat and waited over 30 min for her to start. DO NOT go to this place if you want to receive respectful timely service. Misty is the worst. This has happened multiple times. I'm so sad that I now have to look elsewhere. I am SO sad. read more

I will only go here when I'm in a hurry and need my nails done quickly. The prices are fair and the polishes they have in stock are several but you have to deal with a rushed job if there's a lot of people and I don't think they do great manicures. Pedicures are usually pretty good and last about 2-3weeks but I've had better locally which is why it's not my preference. It can be a bit stuffy if you go here in the summer or when the sun is going down so I'd suggest an area that doesn't get as much sun or where they have a fan. Parking can be easier here too because they have a parking lot (especially if you go on a weekend during work hours). read more

I came here early on a weekday, so I was the only customer. All I needed was a single acrylic nail fix with gel and chrome powder. Despite this simple request, it took three different nail techs and 40 minutes to work on that one nail. In the end, the result was awful--lumpy, misshaped, and not even close to the chrome finish I asked for. I ended up with a glitter nail instead because they didn't rub in the chrome powder enough. To top it off, the staff left me sitting in the chair halfway through for 20 minutes, and they were rude throughout the process. If you're local and go regularly, maybe you'll have a better experience. But if you're in town needing a quick one-off service, save yourself the time and frustration--find somewhere better. read more

Update 2022 Came here again to try the salon out again to see if anything had changed since the last time. I got a normal pedicure yesterday and am taken aback of how horrid my toes look. I came in with a friend for a walk in and picked out a white color for summer. I noticed that the color was too sheer and asked for more layers of paint. The lady kept painting my toes but kept missing part of my toe nail. She kept telling me it was the color I picked and thats why it looks like this also noting that she can't purchase this color again and it was running out..it was kind of weird for her to make excuses as to why it's like that and didn't try to remedy the situation. To pay 31$ for a pedicure and get a hack job is an absolute waste of money. I will not be coming back here as this business has still not shown any real customer care. read more

They are busy for a reason! I have been coming here for years, but also get my nails done in LA depending on my work schedule. The price for the quality is truly the best at Modern Nails. They really take their time cleaning and prepping your nails and nail beds. Misty and Hiedi make an effort to remember what you like and will always make sure you're happy. They will always try to accommodate a regular customer even on busy Saturdays, however if you're local and worried about rush times, weeknights or a Sunday appointments are much quieter. read more
