I needed a simple toilet wax seal replacement, a half-hour job, but when Hunter pulled the toilet, he noticed standing water in the waste pipe. He asked if I had any backup issues. I had observed none recently. On further investigation, I did have a serious wastewater backup. I suspected that it was due to Comcast installing fiber optics in the neighborhood, drilling in the area of water/sewer pipes. So, the rest of the afternoon, Hunter worked with a camera and an auger to locate the blockage. He located it, but it was the lateral under my neighbor's driveway, which needed to be resolved by the utility company. Hunter asked me to let him know the outcome. It turned out to be a big deal. Indeed, the clay pipe was broken by Comcast's subcontractor drilling to install fiber duct. So, I knew there would be finger-pointing the like. I got it resolved, after a call to the PSC and a lot of back-and-forth. Sunshine Water sucked out the sewer and repaired the cracked pipe. I texted Hunter when the repair was complete, sending him photos of the cracked Clay pipe. I had shared his report with Sunshine Water, which gave them confidence in locating the break. This was very helpful because they couldn't get a camera in there due to the pipe being full of *(**&*&*. After I texted Hunter, he called me to ask how it went. I gave him the lowdown. In my long experience with home repair contractors and service companies, I have rarely encountered employees like Hunter. He left a job with loose ends beyond his control, but he cared enough about the job to want to know how it was resolved. Please thank him for me. And if I need plumbing services in the future, Modern Plumbing Industries is who I'll be dealing with. I have had a garbage disposal on the right side which stopped working a long time ago and it was finally time to get rid of it. I made an appointment with Modern Plumbing for this Friday to have it removed plus to look into my water hammer issue. On Thursday I was called to see if I was available for an earlier day visit instead. Yes, I was available. Zach made it to my house and explained to me that the water hammer resistors I had in place needed to be moved from the back of the washing machine to the water faucet instead and lo and behold, the thumping stopped! Wonderful advice. We then discussed the second issue I had with removing the broken disposal and once the price was provided, I approved the work and he quickly got to it. He was very professional, left the entire area tidy and also gave me great insight into how the repiping would be done, which is something I need to save up for to get done. Zach tested the work he did several times to ensure that no leaking was happening, which is appreciated. I had a stream coming out of my shower spigot because the cartridge was bad. I couldn't get the cartridge out, so I called Modern Plumbing at 2 PM. Turns out I needed a new valve because they don't make cartridges for 3 prong valves any more. Tyler was replacing the valve by 4:30 PM and worked until 8 PM. He charged me the flat fee rather than an after hours fee. He gave me several choices about approaching from the front or the back, and doing it at night or in the future. I don't mind paying a reasonable price for peace of mind. I called about a leaky outside spicket and was told they were about 2 days out for service appointments. We hired one of the MPI plumbers and he not only approached the job in the most inefficient manner but did so in order to charge extra for the time it should have taken. We were quoted $375 but instead we were charged $550. Although he was advised that the back flow originated in the sink, he instead took 1.5 hours to approach it by the tub. Once he shifted to the sink, it took him only 15 minutes to remove the clog. Inefficient, dishonest, and clearly inept! NEVER AGAIN! read more

Called for a garbage disposal that was making a weird noise. I asked for a quote for a replacement, but when the technician visited he found a piece of plastic inside. He was very honest, and advised me of this, and said the garbage disposal is relatively new, and I didn't need a new one. Very honest technician and that is rare these days. Tried to shower last night and the handle broke off our shower, leaving the shower water on with no way of turning it off. A couple hours of my husband trying to fix it (and shutting off the water to the whole house), we decided to call an emergency plumber! We ultimately decided on Modern Plumbing for their great customer service (quick to answer and respond to calls, thorough and professional quote visit, very informative), professionalism, and how they were able to work with us and our calendar to get our house re-piped quickly. They did a great job, did the whole re-pipe thoroughly in just 2 days, and were great working around our kids and dog in the house. And the drywall patcher they contract out did an incredible job patching the necessary holes from the repipe (you can't tell there was ever any holes).
