If I could give zero stars I would! Modern Renovations, Martinsburg WV replaced my roof in 2019, I was sold on their warranty of workmanship and product. My painters noticed a leak in my upstairs bathroom. I called Modern Renovations to come out and inspect the roof, I suspected it may be faulty boots and flashing around my vent pipes. After many many phone calls and no-shows for scheduled appts a roofer from MR finally came out, Franklin. He went into my attic and said that it was not the roof and the leak was caused by another source. Franklin did not got onto my roof. I have had multiple contractors out tying to find the "other source" , I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours trying to find the source of the leak. I hired a plumber to look at my pipes in the attic, had A.S.K. Heating HVAC replace ductwork in my attic, I had my attic re-insulated by Comfenergy and still the leak surfaced. One of the techs for the insulation noticed my vent pipe was allowing a lot of sun light in and said it was not normal. "If light can get in so can water" I contacted Modern Renovations once again and they finally said they would replace the boots and flashing. I had an appointment scheduled. On the day of my appointment I contacted and spoke to Franklin Cabrera, owner of MR who said he was sending a tech out to replace the boots and flashing. I took time off work and once again no one ever showed up to make the repair. This back and forth with Modern Renovation, Martinsburg WV has been ongoing with NO RESULTS. I contacted another roofing company HighPoint Roofing WV who performed a roof inspection and was able to confirm my suspicion of the boots and flashing being the issue. HighPoint provided a recommendation and I have contracted them to repair Modern Renovations shoddy work. I have reported Modern Renovation to the BBB and will be considering my legal options in suing them. This company is unprofessional and their work is questionable. I would STEER clear of this company for any work!

Would not recommend. Communication skills are sub par. Actual work seems fine but better options probably out there.

Yep, another five star review for American Windows…read more We received three estimates for replacing three windows, a French door and a picture window. American Window undercut the estimates of the other two vendors by a substantial margin. We also really liked they only asked for a modest down payment. Jay was our sales contact at American Windows and he was absolutely great. He has an engaging personality, and kept all his commitments to us. We appreciated that when installation day came, he swung by to ensure all was going well. Oh, how did the installation go? It was fantastic. Not only did the windows and door come earlier than promised, the American Windows crew came on time and worked quickly and professionally. We were amazed that the whole job only took 4 1/2 hours to complete. The windows and door materials are high quality and we are very satisfied with the results.

We decided to drive an hour out to their showroom without calling first. Even though they weren't open yet and are by-appointment-only, Phil greeted us without hesitation. It turned out they couldn't take on our small window sill repair since they didn't install the original window, but Phil helped us anyway! He gave us repair ideas, explained potential causes, pointed us toward the right tools, and gave us contacts who could help. To top it off, his cuddly dog Wilson kept us company, and Phil even recommended a local spot for lunch since he knew we had a long drive. We are completely speechless at his kindness and support, despite not even being paying customers. Based on this first impression, we would work with Phil any day. The world needs more people like him!

The company billed me for two hours for work that was not completed. I called another company, Blue and Gray Electrical, and their licensed electrician fixed everything in 20 minutes. A+ claimed that I had been sold a defective part for them to install, but the licensed electrician easily installed the part and it worked (and still works) just fine. Also, the licensed electrician noted that the fixture had not been installed properly--it was not flush with the ceiling--which he was able to repair in just a few minutes. Stay away from A+.

I hired them to do a single job for me when I first bought my house a little over a year ago. It…read morewas incredibly overpriced, but I paid anyway because I had other projects going on at the same time, and it just made things easier. Fast forward to Jan of 2022, I thought that perhaps I'd try them one more time. I called and spoke to Jim. I told him I needed my left hand out-swing, hollow core, interior door, turned around to become a right handed in-swing. I didn't need patch work. I didn't need paint. I didn't need the threshold work done. I simply wanted to hire them to give me the recessed hinge openings, and the recess for the striker plate. THAT'S it. I didn't speak Japanese, it was very plain English. Jim began with telling me he'd always recommend replacing the frame for a job like this. It's quite annoying being up-sold right after outlining, in specific detail, what I wanted the job to entail. I wasn't calling for advice or permission. I was calling to get a quote. I told him that a new frame wasn't necessary, as my frame work is great, and all I wanted was the recessing. He then said the most laughable and cliché contractor thing to say. That "if the job is straightforward" he'd only charge between $250-$300. I'm still laughing! Did you read that all the way through? $250 to recess 3 spots for door hinges, and 1 striker plate. Needless to say, I didn't hire them. And, I won't be "trying" them for anything else. Instead, I retrieved my wood chisel from the garage and got the door switched on my own. It was a basic, no frills, diy project. Maybe I should think more highly of myself, and charge exorbitant amounts of money for menial tasks?....Nah, I'll stay a decent person.
