This has consistently excellent food for any dish that we have tried over the years, even during the very tough days of the pandemic. However, we find that the service has been lacking care and is rushed of late. The waiter seems to be in a hurry to talk and leave, even though it is not busy. This needs to change, because I wouldn't want an excellent food restaurant to suffer just because of a few in-motivated waiters. The ambiance is good, with a darker lighting and colours. There is another half to the restaurant where the bar and TVs are found. So it's kind of split into two sections, making the restaurant more quiet and isolating it from the noisier sports bar type portion. But the doors to the bar need to STAY CLOSED, as we sometimes found them left open presumably to help with faster service, but only helps the staff, and frustrates the customers if they want a quieter environment. read more

This is a classic staple in The west island .. this bar and grill has been around since forever.. usually I come here for breakfast/ brunch as the food is great and they got great brunch specials. Today I just came here for a drink lol never got to it as there was no one around to take my order. Got distracted at the machines and they were paying out .. was looking forward to spend 30$ on booze instead I ended up wining 50$ on those video lottery machines .. super great day when you win some money and chose not to spend it. I don't recommend these machines as they're highly addictive but its nice that they separate the bar lounge from the food resto. When you're bored and looking to unwind and in dire need of a drink this place seems to get the fix done unless the waitresses are no where to be found but oh well it was great and next time ill review the food side as well lol read more

Was in the mood for a quick drink mid day to watch a few sports. Location Convient located in st. Jean in the west island across from Fairview mall. Parkings Lots of free parking in there huge lot. Atmosphere Great place to have a few drinks and some confort food. Did not eat there this time but the food looked amazing and the portion sizes were huge. Sat at the bar and order two Bloody Mary. It's rare to find a place that makes a good Bloody Mary but they hit the nail on the head. Just amount of vodka to tomato juice rAtion along with salt combo. I used Uber eats to order from here today. We had the club sandwich and hamburger. Simple dishes that should be simple to cook and taste delish... I guess not. The club sandwich wasn't cut in four pieces so it was basically just a BLT that was put together and thrown in a container. Honestly, not to be that "guy" but that's not how a club sandwich should be prepared. They could possibly rename it to BLT on the menu. As for the burger, I have never had a more over cooked and poorly prepared dish. The patty was very dry. There were no condiments in the burger or given with the order. The bun was hard, to the point you are unable to chew it. It looked past its freshness date. The fries were unseasoned, not even salt was added. Moe's is a West Island land mark. Given the fact that there isn't much in the way of great restaurants in the West Island, this one has stood the test of time. Hard to do around here. The menu is vast. Something for everyone, family friendly, good burgers and smoked meat. Great cheese cake. However, this place that was once known for its massive servings (exaggerated actually), left me somewhat disappointed in my Thai steak salad. For close to $20 a salad, they were really skimpy on the amount of actual salad leaves. I left hungry. It was tasty but not worth the price. I've had other salads here before and it's been the same thing. I'll go back but not for salad. read more

A local counterpart of mine said a trip to Montreal would not be complete without a smoked meat sandwich. Running short on time and wanting to stay relatively close to the airport Moe's was a great option. Luckily we made it for just as happy hour was starting so small beers were on special! I ordered the jumbo smoked meat sandwich which came with cole slaw and fries. The sandwich was simple; Bread, Meat and Mustard. simplistic and tasty but not mind blowing. Yes, the sandwich was jumbo but it was not match for me. I killed all 3 components and still had room for a few beers.. For those like me who have never had this Montreal delicacy, the best descriptor I can think of for smoked meat is it's similar to a salt beef sandwich that you would get in the UK. In addition you use regular yellow mustard on this vs brown mustard like it's Brit counterpart. I still prefer a Reuben over smoked meat/salt beef. But would still recommend this place for out of towners for a smoked meat experience. Service Bar girls were great company and great French teaches. They also were good at their job too! So I went with my family to try Moe's (it's about time). I am gald I did, I always wanted to do so since it's a known resto for Montrealers. I was in West Island, near Fairview mall and just hungry! We started with garlic bread and caesar salad. Our main dish was the "Poutine with steak and blue cheese" plate. I honestly enjoyed it a lot, just exactly what I imagined. However, be aware, you might find it salty due to the blue cheese. I mean it IS salty, but I like salt and like my Poutine to be salty. If I go again there, I would order the very same thing. I have passed Moes literally a hundred times but listened to friends and family who told me there were better similar places in the area. Those friends and family are very very wrong. This turned out to be one of the best lunches that I have ever had on the West Island. When I walked in I was a bit taken aback that they were so busy. The host asked if I would mind sitting in the bar area and I accepted. I'm glad I did because it was quieter than the main dining room and the service and attention to detail was exceptional. I ordered the Super Smoked Meat Sandwich Medium Fat Plate. A half pound of smoked meat between two pieces of fresh rye bread that comes with French fries and coleslaw. The smoked meat is as good as you will find anywhere in Montreal. Melt in your mouth. Slightly spicy. Perfect. The rye bread soft in the center with a crispy crust which is not so easy to find anywhere. The fries were perfect Montreal fries and the coleslaw was slightly creamy and exactly to my taste. How does this place have nearly 5 stars? The only positive thing I can say is that the waitress was super friendly, and the menu is huge. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and it was decent, but the smoked meat wasn't great. My 2 lunch dates had the smoked meat sandwiches on the table d'hôte and were both disappointed with their food. For a deli & "bar", the beer selection is pitiful. Most restaurants have more beer on tap than Moe's does. Pitchers for $21 (or a 20oz glass for $7.25) are not such a great deal... I expected better prices for a place with "bar" in its name. If you don't like the tap options, your choices of bottled beer are plentiful, but at $8 a bottle, it's hard to get excited about it. I got the Reuben sandwich, which was smoked meat, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and some russian dressing on pumpernickel bread. TASTEGASM! So, so good. The smoked meat was juicy, tasty and felt 'fresh', if that makes any sense. The fries, on the other hand, was a bit too greasy and soggy for my tastes. The waiter had assured me that they cut them by hand and fry them, and that its "not McCains". But.. greasy. I wasn't a fan. We also had the Ferrero Rocher cake, which was huge and quite good. The lunch special Montreal smoked meat sandwich was $14.99 and included choice of soup and the sandwich plated with a huge serving of fries. So we just left after breakfast and once again the server Sameeha was inattentive. I'm convinced it is due to a previous incident - check the last FB post dated October 2014 - where she was taken to task because of her poor performance at our table and she never accepted responsibility for her errors. She's punishing us by making us feel like we don't matter. And, the FB page is obviously not monitored by the management or owners, they never commented or reached out.... Next time we will request a different server... If we go back. If you get her at your table, her niceties are false - she has an attitude that she can do no wrong. read more
