Four score and seven minutes ago (probably an hour longer than that, actually), Moe brought forth, in this flower shop, a beautiful bouquet created with blue roses and yellow daffodils (Cal colors - go Bears!). I needed a florist who would be able to make me a bouquet quickly for a society dinner, and Moe was perfect for the job. After telling him how much I was willing to spend per bouquet ($10), he gave me many options for my blue-and-yellow theme. Although the only blue flowers were the roses, I had my choice of daffodils, miniature sunflowers, or zinnias. Best of all, he threw in a discount once he found out it was for a school organization and I was able to stay within my budget. I didn't experience any of the sass that he apparently gave other reviewers, so I was very happy walking out of his store ten minutes later with two lovely bouquets. I moved out of the area and am in a long distance relationship. It being my girlfriend's birthday, I thought it'd be nice to send her some flowers from a local shop. The boquet I bought wasn't crazy expensive, but they definitely weren't cheap. I told him what I wanted and what it was for, and he put it together for a decent price for what I got, but this is obviously not where you go to get budget flowers. Since he was willing to deliver, I didn't complain. I tried to set it up a week in advance and he told me to call the day before, which I did. Screw up number 1. He didn't let me specify a delivery time. His delivery guy went to her house during school hours (a business by UC Berkeley, you'd think he'd get it) and she obviously wasn't there. Rather than leave it with a neighbor or leave it there, he chose not to deliver it at all. Screw up number 2. He CALLED my girlfriend and left a message, ruining my surprise for her! This genius knew it was a birthday surprise, I hadn't even put my name on it. To top it off, his message was so garbled that she couldn't figure out the number to call back. I called Moe and he said they would redeliver at 6 p.m. and to make sure my gf was home. They didn't come. I called Moe again at 7 p.m. to ask about the flowers, and Moe was immediately extremely defensive / outright hostile. I had barely gotten my name out, in a pleasantly normal tone, when he started yelling into the phone in his european accent, "I can't assure exact minute and second you want flowers to get there! I tell you I don't even deliver for only how much you pay! They will get there be patient and calm down!" I hadn't said anything but my name. He didn't let me get a word in edge wise, and yelled that if I was in such a rush (I guess in wanting them to get there some time during her birthday) I needed to come pick them up myself. I asked him why he was being so aggressive, I hadn't said anything yet, and he yelled that I had already called twice! TWICE! In one day! The nerve! Then I find out that he called my girlfriend and yelled at HER in a similar manner (on her bday!), telling her he was the business owner and she had to adhere to his schedule if she ever wanted her flowers. So to sum it all up, I paid more than I ever have for a boquet that he had to deliver a grizzling 2-3 minute walk from his shop. Instead of a beautiful surprise boquet from her long distance boyfriend on her birthday, my girlfriend received a voice mail in the afternoon ruining the surprise, and then a rude phone call in the evening from an angry french(?) man. I can't even begin to imagine the issues a dude selling pretty flowers must possess to be so angry at a paying customer, and the intended recipient on her birthday. I would also like to publicly apologize for expecting that a boquet, which I made clear was for a birthDAY, would get there on the DAY they were bought for. Abuse someone else, nut bag. Update: We have since received the flowers (10 pm), and she loves them. I guess I can't really recommend this place one way or another, all I can do is share my story and let you be the judge. Pros: Not the most expensive (definitely fancy priced flowers though, get em for someone you care about, not your drunk last minute blind date for the frat formal), the flowers are apparently stunning. Cons: crazy european nut bag who will yell at you and treat you like you kicked his dog. read more

We hired Moe to do our wedding flowers on Mother's Day (in May 2014), a florist's second-most busy day of the year, AND he gave us a killer bargain!!! I had read reviews about how nice Moe is, but I can personally attest he is truly a compassionate businessman who understands the student budget. Not only did he give us a good price for the full load of flowers we ordered (6 bouquets, 12 boutonnieres, 3 corsages, 14 centerpieces, 2 altar arrangements, 20 hair flowers) but he did an amazing job with all of them! Guests commented on how beautiful the centerpieces looked and I was downright astounded with how huge and lovely the altar arrangements were (they were so pretty that our reception venue asked to keep them to accent their foyer)! I loved my bouquet, and the hair flowers added just that extra touch of elegance to my hair that has turned out gorgeous in pictures. Since I'm not sure Moe reads Yelp reviews since he doesn't even have a website for his flower shop, I came by personally a week ago to thank him for his diligence and his excellent work. His flowers made my wedding day a little more beautiful and a little more memorable, and for that I'm truly grateful. I work on the UCB campus and we have to get a new arrangement for our foyer each week. Moe really does a great job and stays within our meager budget. He certainly will accommodate any budget and always picks the best flowers he has. Don't be afraid to give him your budget number and let him make the arrangement. He always puts in extra flowers just because he thinks they will add to the bouquet. He's not in the business to rip you off. Back in 2005, when i got married i was hesitant to ask Moe to do my wedding flowers. But, when i asked arround campus, I found several other brides who used his services for their weddings. So, I talked to Moe. He hooked me up. The flowers were great. He helped me choose the flowers for the bouquets, center pieces, church decor, etc. I really wanted to have Gerber Daisies but Moe vetoed that idea: "No, you don't want that" Me: "yes I do" and so on.... To be fair, everyone else in my wedding party hated the idea too. But hey, it was my wedding. So I compromised on having the Gerbers around the wedding cake instead. He doesn't deliver since it's only him in the shop. But since I was getting married in Oakland, I had a friend pick up the flowers for me. It worked out great and saved us $$. I've used Moe's services for all sorts of personal occassions since then. And everyone is always impressed with the arrangements that i bring. Moe can be a little rough sometimes in his coversation, so I understand a few of the comments that have been posted. But 99 times out of a 100, he's been great. He has great flowers, and makes great arrangements and is reasonable priced. I highly recommend his shop! read more

He has the best of everything...WONDERFUL flowers (live orchids in my case), terrific prices (well below what I have paid in the area before) and AWESOME service. I was sending flowers to my daugher for her birthday and I wanted to add a gift...he actually went out and got a gift that has nothing to do with flowers and delivered it with the orchid. I realize it seems like I give a lot of 5 stars. But seriously, Moe's deserves it. Every time I have gone I have not been disappointed. The most recent visit was when I hurried in to do a favor for someone and needed a quick bouquet for a funeral. I ran in and told him I needed a $20 bouquet. He soon whipped up the most beautiful bouquet ever with such an array of white flowers. He asks for your budget, and then he runs with it. He's incredibly sweet and thoughtful and he always has fresh flowers for every occasion. As I was walking out he ran after and asked if I needed parking validation, I didn't--but his urgency in asking was much appreciated. My girlfriend and I are going to MY family's house for Thanksgiving for the first time...which means we won't be going to HER family's house here in Berkeley. She is an only child so this is kind of sad for all of them :( Wanting to be gracious I decided to send flowers for the holiday letting her parents know we'd miss them and be thinking of them, but never having sent flowers in Berkeley I didn't know who to call...one trip to yelp and it was obvious that Moe was my guy! Some reviews say he can be moody but he was super-sweet on the phone...He asked if I had something in mind for the order and I told him the situation. "OH! I completely understand. You need fall colors and something REALLY NICE so they still like you!" I told him I'd like to spend $30 and asked how much delivery would be. He said normally it's free over $45 and $15 for orders under that, then suggested he charge me $40 for flowers, vase, delivery, and tax so I said yes. When he asked if I'd like it there TONIGHT my jaw hit the floor. We're going out to dinner tonight to make up for missing Turkey Day, so I said tomorrow morning please :) We'll just have to see how the flowers turn out now. I'll keep you posted! read more

He was wonderful about working with me to create the right bouquet for my special someone and going over when would be the best time to deliver them. Everytime I drive from San Jose to Berkeley I make sure to stop by here to make sure I grab some of their beautiful blue roses for my girlfriend. The best part about them is that they are not made with food coloring like everywhere else. These beauties are imported to Moe. These are true, rare gems. He also hooked me up with a beautiful blue orchid lei for my girlfriend's graduation. If you want your graduate to stand out, I highly recommend them. I came here with a friend who wanted to buy a couple roses. This friend of mine had been coming to this place for a loooong time and always buys his flowers from here. When we were in there, Moe was helping a customer and duuude, maybe it's because I don't buy flowers that often, but he really has an eye for picking out good color schemes. I guess this is a trait all florists must have. At one point, as I was standing awkwardly in a corner and admiring some beautiful flowers, Moe started talking to me. Not used to being engaged in small talk by a storeowner, I was pretty shocked and it took me a little time to realize he was talking to me. He turned out to be pretty friendly. I wouldn't choose some of the premade bouquets though; they're not as lovely as the ones you can make yourself. I used to live nearby this place and I always walked by. It was my roommate's birthday and I needed something small as a gesture so I dropped by... Moe's is wonderful. I told him my budget and he helped me put together small, but beautiful arrangement. I never bought flowers before, but now I look for excuses to drop by. I'm supporting a local business and I put a smile on a person's face. I bought another small bunch of flowers for someone and they were able to keep them alive for a month! So I finally got a chance to meet Mr. Moe in person this time. It is Valentine's day and his shoppe was busy with a line of 10 people waiting. The reason I came in the store this time was because I thought I might get better service and I did. I got 15 beautiful long stem roses, and although I did pay premium Valentine's day prices, I also don't feel like I got ripped off. They are always more expensive on V-day! I even got one that was dipped in some glitter, looked cool! Great job Moe, your service has improved. One suggestion I have is hiring an additional person to help out at the store, I think Moe wouldn't get so grumpy and stressed if he had some help at the shoppe. My granddaughter was signing a letter of intent as a student athlete at the U of Hawaii and Moe made a beautiful flower lei with literally a few hours notice. When long range planning failed her mom for graduation day and in what was the midst of a hectic graduation season in Berkeley, Moe came through again, this time with less than 24 hours notice! He is a true gentleman, who provides high quality products and service at a very fair price. He could easily have taken advantage of our need for a rapid turnaround but did not. What a wonderful guy.. MOE KNOWS!! I Googled a florist nearby and voila, Moe's Flowers popped up. Not only is he knowledgeable about his trade but was very accommodating to my urgency of driving to the flower shop. Upon arrival he knew right away that I was the one that called regarding carnations. He immediately assisted my husband and I and not only did he give us a good deal but he also gave me a beautiful single rose; in Moe's words, "A radiant smile deserves a rose."
