I wish I could give these guys a zero! Warning: Be Cautious When Hiring Moe's Plumbing I'm a developer and builder with over 25 years of experience in the industry, having completed more than 30 new builds and renovations. For the past decade, I've relied on a trusted plumber--someone who's honest, reliable, and gets the job done right. Recently, my go-to plumber was tied up, so he referred me to Moe's Plumbing to look at an issue with my Navien Combi boiler, which was installed less than a year ago. Their technician came out, diagnosed the problem as a dip switch setting during commissioning, and claimed it had caused the failure of the three-way valve. He told me the part wouldn't be covered under warranty and sent me a quote for $1,300 to fix it. Before moving forward, I called my plumber and explained the situation. Since he had installed and commissioned the unit himself, he wanted to take a closer look. After investigating, he contacted Navien directly--and that's when the truth came out. The part was under warranty. In fact, Moe's Plumbing had already ordered the part under warranty and had it shipped to their location in Maple Ridge, completely free. When my plumber confronted them and asked why they were charging me $1,300 for a free part, they had no good explanation. He ended up picking up the part from Moe's and installed it himself. The job took no more than two hours. Moe's Plumbing not only tried to bill me for a part they got for free--they also inflated the labor for a simple repair. And when it came time to hand over the part, they made a big fuss, despite the fact that it wasn't even theirs to charge for. Now they're trying to backpedal, saying the technician made an error and that it was all a misunderstanding. That's simply not true. I spoke directly with both the technician, Davis, and the manager, Soroosh Piryaei. I have no doubt they saw an opportunity to take advantage of someone they assumed wouldn't know any better. To me, this was a clear attempt at dishonesty--charging for something free and gouging on labor. If you're considering hiring Moe's Plumbing, proceed with extreme caution. read more

I waited about a week to make this complaint because I feel like I needed to digest exactly what happened that day. Do not hire this company. This review comes with many but two main complaints. 1) Did not provide upfront pricing, the original cost was supposed to be $400 but of course half way through the job they needed $350 more. 2) They did not clean up and left literally 30+ liters of raw sewage sitting on my bathroom floor. Here is the whole list of complaints: - Was originally scheduled between 10am-Noon but didn't end up coming out until 2:30. Now they called at 11:30 to reschedule with a noon to 4 window. - Davis arrived and he quoted $400 for the job. He spent about 45 minutes working. Large chunks of which the tech Davis was talking on the phone scheduling other jobs.. - Apparently the snake was "not long enough" and the clog was farther out then 80ft. But when the clog was cleared and I was shown where it was it was less than 40ft from the start. - I was strongarmed into paying $350 more to bring in the "second machine". When the job started I was told the $400 included the larger machine already. I was promised up front pricing. What am I supposed to do say no and have to wait another day to get another plumber out to clear it. - Davis left for 50 minutes but left 20+ liters of raw sewage on the floor. I know the amount because I have a gallon of wet vac that I emptied 5-6 times. Thankfully I went down to check and cleaned up before it seeped more into the carpet outside of the bathroom. - Davis was chewing tobacco now I only saw him spitting outside but since he left 20+ litres of raw sewage and dirt/shit hand marks all over my wall I can assume. - Davis returned with another tech where he saw me cleaning up residual sewage on the floor. He said he was going to shop vac it. So he clearly had the tools and the time to clean up the 20+litres of sewage on my floor before leaving for 50 minutes. It took them no more than 20 more minutes to clear out the clog, check with the camera, and explain to me the problem of how the clog occurred. Overall it felt like I was cheated into paying 350$ more to bring in the other machine. - They left so quickly that they left tools and gloves in my house. - When I went down to check the work, they again did not clean up the sewage. I messaged Davis my complaint and the other tech came back. But of course by the time they got there I had already cleaned up the additional 8 litres of raw sewage. read more

We had a leaky faucet hose so we contacted Moe's Plumbing Drainage & Heating for help. It's a family run business with the son, Soorosh, running things. We were in contact with him over e-mail to set up a time. They told us that it was a $80.00 call out fee and that they would provide an upfront quote (on site) after inspecting the problem. The $80.00 is then supposed to be deducted off the total. However, none of that happened when Moe came to look at our faucet hose. He went straight into putting in our new faucet (which we had obtained ourselves) and didn't provide an estimate. It took him, at most, 45 minutes and that was with plenty of chatter. I shudder to imagine how much they would have charged us if we had been required to use their replacement faucet. The main issue was when I was given the invoice - they billed $300.00. Yes, you read that right, $300.00! Shocking. Luckily, we had what the son wrote in writing and were able to get them to apply the $80.00 from the total. After that experience, I have zero plans of doing business with them again. read more

Had to call them for a shower repair. I already researched about the problem, had the spare parts purchased and ready and all I was missing is the tool that could take out the OLD "diverter" that is why I called MOE's plumbing. I was really hoping that they would be reasonable for their price as the job did not take long and not much effort. Unfortunately, they quoted me $219 total. And since I was impatient to get this over with I agreed. My mistake. I should have paid the outright visiting fee of $80. On hindsight, I could have purchased that tool at Home depot (Channel lock pliers) for much less and just did the replacement myself and saved money. Lesson learned. Just be warned to call them for a very easy job will cost you at least $200. By the way, the plumber that came in was courteous and professional. read more

I've had Moe's out for a couple jobs now. They've been courteous, upfront, and honest about everything they've had to do. When an unexpected issues came up, such as a water main crossing over drain tile, they let me know immediately and described the plan of action to deal with it, making sure I was in agreement with what needed doing. I would happily recommend them. And to the review above that is complaining about a toilet lever? That $75 quote sounds about right, given you're taking the time of a plumber to find you a $6 part. Home Depot exists for that kind of thing. read more

Lots of red flags. Exaggerated the scope of the job, exaggerated the price. Was full of attitude. Didn't come prepared to do the job(about 2 hour's of work) even though it was a straightforward wax seal replacement and all information was provided in advance and said he did'nt even have the capacity to take on the job for another week. (Improper disclosure). Why would we co-ordinate someone on site for a leaking toilet if they can't even do the job for a week? Two kinds of people. One's who sincerely cost out the job and the other who sizes you up for how much they think they can maximize you for. Saroosh is the latter. Frankly a waste of everyone's time. Over $800 to unplug a drain? I think it's excessive myself. I was charged for the fiberoptic camera that they used, and for the snake that they used. Isn't this just the tools of their trade? Does a mechanic charge for the hourly use of his tools, or does the hourly rate take that into consideration? I think it does. I think I was taken advantage of actually. I needed someone right away and didn't ask for a quote. I just didn't think I would get gouged. LIve and learn. Be very careful with upcharges with this company. read more

I got a prompt reply to my request for a quote and very fast service. Soroosh was here by 1:30 pm and had the job done within an hour. (Replacement of my kitchen faucet). He explained the pricing, including the cost of the new faucet. Great service. read more

I just installed a new toilet from Moe's plumbing & Heating inc. on Nov. 23, 2020. The total charges from them is $624.75 (include GST). I found that it is a rip off. I cannot imagine how expensive it is for a toilet (toilet is C$295 and installationis C$300). If we ask them to work another project, I think it will burn your pocket. read more

At first, I was very pleased with the quick efficient service from Moe's plumbing and I even posted a great review of them on google (which I've since changed to this review). A few days after getting my garbage disposal fixed, I used my dishwasher and discovered it would not drain. I asked Moe's to come out again and check it out. They did so, and in the process of trying to diagnose the problem they removed the dishwasher by pulling it out from under the cabinet. After the plumber left, I discovered that the baseboards alongside the dishwasher inset were scratched and damaged and one piece of baseboard was missing altogether (I assume it is stuck behind the dishwasher kickboard). I contacted Moe's with photos and asked how they would like to proceed in terms of repairing the damage. Saroosh contacted me by email and said that I would need to provide photos as proof that they had caused the damage. I called him, thinking it would be easier to resolve by phone, and Saroosh said that the plumber (his dad) denied having done the damage. As I had just been on my hands and knees washing the floor after the garbage disposal was replaced, I knew the damage was new and the dishwasher has never been removed since I've lived here (and the hardwood/baseboards were new as of a year ago). Thus, there is absolutely no possible way that the damage was pre-existing. Thus, the evidence of fresh damage coupled with the removal of the dishwasher and my word was insufficient, and Saroosh refused to repair the damage. Saroosh insisted that it was company policy and insurance policy that he couldn't make a claim or pay to have the damage repaired unless I came up with photos (who has photos of their baseboards under the dishwasher?). So my advice to you? If you still want to call this plumber after reading my review, take pictures of everything in your home before they arrive so that you can provide "proof" that any damage they do is their responsibility. I've copied the email from Saroosh at the end of this review so that you can see their take on the issue. I can safely say I've never experienced customer service this poor and I am extremely disappointed because as you can see from my original review, I thought I had found a good plumber. Either paper copy or digital , concrete proof that the picture was taken on that exact date. - The initial installers information. Company, date of install, and where the material was purchased from. Ha. Asked them about a toilet lever. Just needed the handle part. Easy install. Anyone could do it. They mentioned a service call.... told them I just needed the part and did they have it? They came back with a $75 quote saying it was a 'rare part'. Nope. Just bought it at a plumbing store for $6. . That's brutal, guys. Shady stuff. Very disappointing. read more
